About us Our passionate devotion to our craft springs from our history.
Our company is based in the Civita Castellana district, an Etruscan land of age-old artistic traditions, and a center of ceramic art until the mid-20th century. In the early 20th century, a master craftsman named Antonio Coramusi first started the production of ceramic sanitary fixtures. He pioneered the shift in the area from ceramic art to ceramic sanitary fixtures. Of course, production standards of the time were lightyears away from those of today. All documentation and accounts clearly credit him as having the first to make sanitary fixtures in Civita Castellana.
Alessio Coramusi Ceramica Cielo CEO
“The Slow Factory” I was driven to rediscover and appreciate our roots — Antonio Coramusi’s roots. Our company is what I like to call a Made-in-Italy workshop. Our production draws on dedicated stylistic exploration and an innovative approach to selecting materials and forms. Our products stand out for their superior craftsmanship, strictly made in Italy and defined by a deep connection to the values of craftsmanship putting product quality at the absolute center of attention. Over recent years, we have been engaged in ongoing dialogue with designers and architects from around the world. Our keen interest in design has spawned ambitious products with unique forms and proportions, garnering prestigious international awards — for the Le Giare collection by Claudio Silvestrin, for instance.
Contrasting the industrial approach typical of our era, ours is a “slow factory” and our goal is to return a central place to the “culture of the handmade,” a culture that today’s manufacturing industry has decimated in its obsession with hourly and industrial costs.
The designers Contact with our designers has “primed” our minds, giving us a gift of “imagination glasses “ that now govern and drive the factory.
Working with great architects is key for us, as they inspire us to be art masters in our own right, working with artistic dedication to create small pieces of art. This contact has inspired us to move away from industrial design and its tendency to repeat old styles.
Our ethos Nature is our inspiration. People are the center of our designs.
Nature is our inspiration and respecting it as at the basis of everything we do. Our manufacturing expertise means we can make one-of-a-kind ceramic products, unique both in their proportions and surfaces. The Made-in-Italy industry and modern artisanal craft have inflated the use of the term “artisanal,” abusing it for products with nothing artisanal about them. Modern industry has proved itself capable only of focusing on machines, whereas we have truly put people at the center of our industrial design. We see Cielo as a new kind of Renaissance workshop.
We have given priority back to the “culture of the handmade” and the dignity of people, who once again are the master artisans of their work.
Objectives Cielo - A voice for artisanal values
Our goal is to promote the skill and craftsmanship developed over more than a hundred years of history. Cielo gives voice to these artisanal values. We work with world-renowned designers and architects, and our products are found inside great works of international architecture, such as Renzo Piano’s Science Museum and the spectacular North Island Resort in Seychelles.
We use only superior quality materials with no trace of substances harmful to people. The exclusive use of carefully selected materials makes for superior quality, seen both in beautiful surfaces and durability.
International Awards Cielo won over New York as the only Italian company awarded with the prestigious ICFF Editors Awards. The award recognized quality and design of products shown at the ICFF fair, which included Le Giare collection designed by Claudio Silvestrin, the Arcadia collection designed by APG Studio, and the exclusive color and material line “Terre di Cielo.” Even more importantly, the award recognizes Cielo’s manufacturing excellence, our innovation and our design orientation, proving us once again a key voice for Italian-made quality worldwide. The ICFF Editors Awards celebrates Cielo’s unflagging excellence in expressing our innate talent for design and rock-solid design capacities. Cielo takes on new global challenges with a fresh approach to design and functionality in bathroom furnishings, putting out new products of superior formal quality that meet the demands for one-of-a-kind originality of the most discerning, high-end market segments, from private customers as well architects and interior designers.

The Collections The Invention of Colour on top bowl without overflow Ø40 ø40 x h18 - SHBA40 Brina f inish
Through our artisanal, custom approach, we rediscovered the value of Colour in architectural design with our “Terre di Cielo,” a “palette” of 12 original colors and textures for ceramics, based on natural elements. Architectural designers can draw, with total freedom, on these colors for the ceramic products in Cielo’s main collections, or they might suggest having their own color created for particularly important projects (of course, by prior verification).
