He is also a huge New Orleans Saints fan, but as of 2017 he no longer cheers on the Saints from the stands. Now the official team physician to the New Orleans Saints, Dr. Bankston is on the sidelines of every home game and on the road with the team, where he is laser-focused on his job: providing the highest level of care to some of the NFL’s best athletes.

A 1999 LSU graduate, Bankston served as captain of LSU men’s swimming team in 1998-1999. He graduated from LSU School of Medicine, New Orleans, in 2003 and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 2008. He completed a sports medicine, shoulder and elbow fellowship at OrthoCarolina in 2009.

Bankston lives in Baton Rouge with his wife and two young children, and also serves on the board of directors for the Knock Knock Children’s Museum.

With the addition of Dr. Cliff Moore to Woman’s team, the spectrum of high-risk pregnancy care now includes complex fetal therapies.

Fetal intervention specialists are uncommon in the region, with the closest residing in Houston and Miami. As the region’s first fetal intervention specialist, Dr. Moore is skilled in therapies used to treat some of the most complex birth defects, including bladder and lung abnormalities, while the baby is still in the womb. Dr. Moore has also been successful in treating the potentially fatal twin-totwin transfusion syndrome with a rare procedure called placental laser ablation; he also performs this surgery in utero.

Finally, he has experience in open fetal surgery that corrects spinal defects in the fetus months before delivery. He hopes to bring this procedure to the region in the near future.

A graduate of LSU Medical School, Dr. Moore completed his residency at University Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, and his fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at Magee-Women’s Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania. Over the years, he has trained with the fetal specialty teams from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Texas. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing with his family and playing golf with the Dewbusters at CCL.
