This talk explored Battersea Arts Centre's role as a hub for experimental poetry and spoken word for over 30 years.
Dr. Stephen Willey (Lecturer in Creative and Critical Writing at Birkbeck) brought to life some significant performances which have taken place in our old Town Hall building over the years, including a night of beat poetry with Allen Ginsberg in 1979. Talia Randall, a multi-discipline performance artist with roots in spoken word, then discussed her work and practice.
At the end of the talk there was a short performance by Battersea Arts Centre upcoming spoken word artist Kyronne.
