2 GO&MAKE S E P T E M B E R
2018 HAS BEEN AN INCREDIBLE YEAR OF GOD’S FAITHFULNESS AND BLESSING IN THE MIDST OF TRANSITION! Our Easton campus continues to welcome new people, with 400 or more in attendance on Christmas Eve and Easter. In Annapolis, we have transitioned to a campus, with Brian Hopper serving as campus pastor. Throughout 2018 we continued to elevate God’s heart for the nations, with more than 150 serving on short term missions teams and new global partnerships in the works. We are now in nine regions around the world, with a vision to be a part of God’s global cause in 17 regions. God is truly at work in each of our mission teams! I was encouraged by the story of a Polish woman who reluctantly attended the English camp where our teams serve, wrestling with good, tough questions about God and faith. She nearly had to leave halfway through the camp to care for an ailing family member, but was persuaded to stay and was one of many who responded to our team’s gospel presentation and accepted Christ! At home, I was fired up to hear about a teenage boy who came with a friend to our Student Ministry’s Super Bowl party. He had never been to church before, but came back for our student gatherings. After a few weeks, he trusted in Christ when his friend shared about Jesus with him! This is the heart of why we are expanding our children’s and student facilities - we want to reach the next generations for Christ! I could share many more stories of God’s faithfulness within our church family, but I will let the pages that follow be a celebration of what He has done over the last 12 months. Grateful to be on this journey with you,
Greg St. Cyr Lead Pastor

2018 WAS A YEAR OF GROWTH FOR OUR EASTON CAMPUS. Bay Area Easton grew not only in attendance, but also in its student and children’s ministries. They sent a short term missions team of 25 to serve in El Salvador, and secured and renovated a new office and meeting space. In 2018, the Easton church family stretched in generosity, giving over $108,000 more than the fiscal year giving goal.

We felt like God was nudging us to finally take that leap of faith and go on a short term missions trip, and He completely showed up in so many ways while we were in Belize. One area we saw Him working was through the great connection we made with one of the Belizean construction workers while there. He had previously been in prison for a while, and was struggling to figure out the direction and purpose for his life. We invited him to come to church with us while we were there, and in turn, were able to encourage him and pray with him. It was absolutely amazing to see God work in his life in only a few short days, and we have committed to continue to pray for him as well as keep in touch in order to encourage him.

We had been attending Bay Area for almost a year, volunteering and attending events, but it wasn’t until we joined a Missional Community that we really began to feel like we were part of the church family. The UP-IN-OUT dynamic of Missional Communities resonated with us. It offers the chance to discuss how to apply the Sunday teachings, go deeper with other believers, and gives us a group to invite friends to join. A year ago we began coleading a Missional Community that was starting in the Eastport area. Again, we are building friendships and reaching out to people who are looking for connection, both within Bay Area and outside of the church family.”

“
About 10 years ago I was encouraged by a close friend, who at the time was leading worship at Bay Area, to join the tech team. Though I am not blessed with the gift of being able to play an instrument or carry a tune to sing, I feel I have been able to use my administrative gifts to serve behind the scenes in the tech booth. In this role I am responsible for advancing the lyrics, slides and videos on the screens with the purpose of creating an inviting environment for those who come to Bay Area. Over the years, I have been able to encourage and train others within the tech ministry. Serving within the worship ministry has allowed me to be part of a community of believers, many of whom have become close friends, who all seek to provide a worship experience for everyone to encounter our incredible God through music and His living word. I am at home behind the computer in the tech booth, and love to volunteer on Sunday mornings and be part of such an amazing team and ministry.

CHURCH PLANTING
“
After months of preparation and prayer, we launched Redemption City Church the Sunday before Easter 2018. The response in the community has been incredible! Each Sunday God brings around 70 people to our service, many of whom have indicated they want to learn about following Jesus. We’ve been blessed to minister to single parents, the elderly and the poor in our community, and God has opened doors for fruitful partnerships in our city of Baltimore with public schools and community organizations. We’re so excited to watch our ministry multiply through equipping 10 emerging leaders in our leadership development program. There’s much to praise God for as He is working through Redemption City Church!”
THE SENT NETWORK IS CONTINUING ITS EXPANSION ACROSS THE MID-ATLANTIC. Launched in 2012, the SENT Network Bay Area’s church planting organization - has equipped pastors to plant 17 churches in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. In the next year, SENT anticipates launching four more church plants.

THROUGH BAY AREA’S RESIDENCY PROGRAM, THREE NEW PASTORS WERE ORDAINED IN 2018.
I joined the residency program to be equipped to return to India for the purpose of preaching the Gospel to unreached tribal people groups. While in the residency, God showed me my desire for the Scripture and passion to live out the Gospel, as well as that He was shaping my character to minister to adults and families. I saw in new ways that God’s grace is enough at all times, in all places, and in all seasons. The most helpful things about being in the residency were learning the Bible forwards and backwards and spending time practically ministering to others. This winter my family and I plan to return to India to spread the Gospel to the unreached people groups of India and plant urban and tribal churches.”

BAY AREA’S NEW SCHOOL OF BIBLICAL LEADERSHIP EQUIPPED 11 GRADUATES IN ITS FIRST YEAR. The school provides nine months of focused growth in character, knowledge and skill.
YEAR-ONE GRADUATE
“
I was invited to apply for the Bay Area School of Biblical Leadership after having a spiritual awakening, of sorts, while on a short term mission trip in Ghana with Brian Hopper. I wanted to dig deeper into my own spiritual discipline, as well as hone leadership skills to become a short term missions team leader in the summer of 2018. The introspection required during the first modules of BASBL set the tone for the personal investment required of this course. It was not merely a place to learn more skills and information, but rather a place of personal transformation. As a result of the growth I experienced through BASBL, I am ready to be a leader of leaders, disciple those who are teachable, and serve the Lord to the ends of the earth if He so asks.”

GOD CONTINUES TO BLESS FOLKS AT BAY AREA! 2018 saw the launch of Unrivaled, a new way of thinking about generosity. At the end of this year, giving is nearly $500,000 over our goal. This money will go to reduce debt on our new expansion and provide funds for a few Kingdom-expanding projects that are on our minds to get started quite soon. I’d like to thank every one of you on behalf of Bay Area for your generous hearts and willingness to be stretched in your giving. We can’t do what we’re all called to without a faithful church family to serve and give of our talent and treasure. Bay Area is blessed in many ways through its people! As I reflect on the response to Unrivaled, two things stand out: • 156 households who had no giving record stepped out in faith and made a commitment, and • of the rest who made a commitment, the average increase from what they had previously given to what they committed was a staggering 44 percent! THAT’S GOOD. REAL GOOD. It’s pretty incredible to think that your gifts and my gifts are making a difference in people’s lives around the world as well as right here in Maryland. Thank you so much for your faithful stewardship of what God owns and provides. Yours,
Ed Kelley Executive Pastor
