CARING COMMUNITY Baylor University is more than an academic institution. It’s a caring community in which students, faculty and staff work together toward professional and academic excellence. Graduate students are provided a variety of opportunities to become involved with the Baylor community and to find support as they pursue degrees and careers.

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) strives to enrich the quality of academic and social life for students of each graduate program at Baylor as well as to advocate for students and voice their concerns. GSA partners with the Graduate School to host orientation for new students and tailgate before Baylor football games in the fall, among other fun and enriching activities. The Graduate Student Housing Community exists to provide housing near the Baylor campus that meets the varied needs of Baylor’s graduate students. The three Baylor-owned apartment complexes within the community each offer a quiet, adult residence with a living area suitable to the professional and family lives that are unique to graduate students. Community hosted events provide occasions for graduate students of all disciplines to come together to share in fellowship, friendship and ideas. Student Intellectual Community Enhancement Money (SIC ‘EM) is a way for graduate students to secure funding for student-initiated events that promote academic and intellectual development outside of the classroom. These student-led events may include a luncheon with faculty and peers to discuss a significant text or a group excursion to a historically significant site.


The 300,000 square foot Baylor Research &

Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) provides a unique blend of university research, industry, workforce development and training, public symposia and business start-up space focused on science and engineering. The Baylor Sciences Building houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Physics and Psychology/ Neuroscience and includes 33 classrooms and more than 150 teaching and research labs.

Malory Green, MIJ ‘15 GRADUATE, JOURNALISM Malory Green received her master’s in international journalism from Baylor, and now serves as the missions and ministry consultant for students and young women at Alabama Woman’s Missionary Union. At Baylor, she worked for the Baylor Graduate School and the Journalism Department as a graduate assistant. Green also gave a presentation on the life of Frederick Douglass at the American Studies Association of Texas Conference during her time as a graduate student.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS Dr. Michaela Ritter is an Associate Professor and the Interim Chair of Baylor’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders as well as the Director of the Baylor University Language and Literacy Clinic. She is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and the Texas Speech-Language and Hearing Association and has served on the editorial boards of a number of scholarly journals. Dr. Ritter’s research is focused on child language and language-based reading disorders.
