Unabashedly Biased for Baylor

After working for 31 years as the administrative assistant to four headmasters and an interim head and raising three daughters who attended Baylor, Susan Collins admits to being “unabashedly biased for Baylor” and says it motivates her in giving back to the school through donations to the Baylor Fund. “I want Baylor to be the best it can be and one of the ways to do that is to support it financially.”

When her daughters, Kelly Cranwell Dyer ’94, Beth Cranwell Aplin ’97, and Anne Louise Cranwell ’99, began attending Baylor, her appreciation for the school grew further, and her place within it became even more personal. “As the years went on, I loved the school and the variety of activities that came with my job and the opportunities that were open to me because of Baylor. After a couple of years, I just loved the people, many of whom became life-long friends. The more I was at Baylor the more I thought the school was worth every penny.”

Following her retirement Collins continued helping the communications and alumni offices keep up with alumni news and serving as one of the proofers for Baylor magazine.” Keeping up with alumni who have come and gone has been incredibly important to me,” says Collins. “I feel every bit as connected as I did when I was here,”

Collins is clear on why a contribution to the Baylor Fund should be a priority for others. “It’s not about the amount you give; you give because you are a member of the Baylor community. If you have a child who is attending the school, or if you have any connection with Baylor, then you should give something just to show your support.”
