The Georgetown Loop Railroad brings Colorado history to life in a fun adventure that will thrill the entire family. The beauty of the rugged Rocky Mountains surrounds you as an old-time steam locomotive or one of the powerful diesel locomotives winds up the Clear Creek canyon, hauling your train past the remains of several gold and silver mines. The fully enclosed, as well as the open, cars allow for a breath taking view of everything along the line. Departures are available from the Silver Plume Depot or Devil’s Gate Station in Georgetown during the regular season. Trains operating after Columbus Day only operate from the Devil’s Gate Station in Georgetown. Gift shops at both ends of the line offer outstanding selections of railroad themed items, books, clothing, snack foods, and hot and cold drinks. Food is permitted on the train. Be sure to visit the Georgetown-Silver Plume National Historic Landmark District, established in 1966. The two towns have one of the largest concentrations of Victorian buildings in the country, with many unique shops and restaurants. The Georgetown Loop Historic Mining & Railroad Park and its surrounding communities provide the perfect way to spend a day!

Page 4 Important Tips To Storing Your Golf Clubs This Winter Although there are some die-hard golf fanatics in Colorado, most of us pack away our clubs until the spring. You should start now to prepare for next year’s golfing season. The following tips will help keep your equipment organized and keep your golf equipment in great condition over the winter months for a quick and easy start to the spring golfing season. Check It Out Now is the best time to examine your equipment. If you wait until the spring, you will probably forget and get frustrated when you pack your clubs to head to the course and find something is wrong. Begin with your clubs. Check the grips which are one of the first things to wear out. Are they cracked? Are they shiny? Those are signs that they need to be replaced. You can replace them over the new few months. If you don’t play during the winter, it isn’t important for you to have your clubs on hand so go ahead and take them in to your favorite pro shop. If you do play over the winter you should call ahead and find out when the shop can get to your clubs. Make sure you tell them you are a winter player and when you will need your clubs back. You should get your clubs and accessories cleaned BEFORE packing them away. This will help prevent any discoloration issues. Make sure the club faces are clean, including each individual groove and check the spikes on your shoes and replace any damaged ones. Place your shoes in a golf shoe bag to protect them and keep your equipment organized. Inspect your clubs not only for dirt, but also check the grooves for wear. If the grooves

are dull and ill defined, you should consider another set of clubs. Worn grooves can affect the flight of the ball and the ability to hold the green. Check for any signs of rust on all of the clubs, dents and dings too. Wash them with warm, soapy water and dry them THOROUGHLY before storing them. If you don’t want to fix all of your golfing equipment right away, make a list of what needs to be prepared a get a few items done at a time over the winter. Check those repairs off on your list and keep the list on your calendar about one month before the beginning of the spring golf season. This will give you plenty of time to have all of your repairs done prior to play. Winter is also a great time to brush up on your golf skills by taking a few lessons. Storage Don’t just throw your clubs in the basement. Place your clean, dry and repaired clubs in a golf bag to keep everything together and protected. Stock up on end of season sales for tees, balls, gloves and more. If you ever travel with your clubs, you may be able to find a deal on travel bags. Remember to protect your clubs and use a quality bag while travelling.

Where you store your clubs is just as important as how you store them. Keep your clubs upright and keep your bag in a closer or basement. Do NOT leave your clubs in an unheated garage, outside storage shed or unheated storage facility; the constant changes in temperature and humidity can damage your equipment. Keep your golf shoes, balls, tees, gloves, visor, and other accessories in a bag and store it with your golf bag. You are now ready for the new golfing season!
