DALLAS — The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas and the Spay Neuter Network held a free spay/neuter event March 2-3 as part of their “The Let’s Fix This” campaign where they were able to provide services for a record-setting 444 pets, a news release said.

The event provided free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines and microchips at five Dallas locations by SPCA of Texas’ and Spay Neuter Network’s veterinary teams for dogs and cats of residents living in across 23 Southern Dallas zip codes.

“Serving the people and pets of Southern Dallas at this event was an amazing experience. Reaching directly into this community and giving them the tools to make a better life for their pets and neighborhoods is a blessing,” Jacob Carty, Spay Neuter Network marketing and communications director, said in the release. “The event was a great success and we are excited to keep the ball rolling on the ‘Let’s Fix This’ campaign!”

The campaign aims to provide free spay/neuter services to pets across Southern Dallas and is made possible by a coalition of local private foundations, the release said.

"The SPCA of Texas is thrilled to announce that our clinics performed 263 free spay/neuter surgeries during the event," James Bias, SPCA of Texas president/CEO, said in the release. "The opportunity to positively impact the lives of each of the pets and their owners was possible thanks to the support of the funders and the hard work and dedication of staff and volunteers!”
