NEEDS ASSESSMENT
An assessment of recent trends and existing conditions was a crucial step in the planning process. During this step the city’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and areas of opportunity were revealed. All these components were taken into consideration when formulating the implementation strategies.
IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGIES
Implementation strategies outline the city’s Pathway to the Future. Identified priority investment areas and a detailed action plan, along with a future land use map, will support Hanahan’s efforts to achieve policy, programmatic and future development goals.

“Hanahan is a thriving, welcoming and diverse community, and a safe, quiet, conformable place to call home. Residents have access to many recreational amenities, including a network of biking and walking trails, entertainment, public parks, gardens, and the waterfront. Our bustling ‘town center’ offers opportunities for social interactions and community connections. City leadership protects the community’s small-town character, preserves cultural, historic and natural resources, and prioritizes redevelopment efforts and infill opportunities over the development of new or natural areas.” VISION 2040
