HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER Just bring a student identity card or NRC card, two passport-sized photographs and the relevent membership fee. Teaching Centre students need to show a valid British Council student card.

OUR SERVICES Lending As an individual member you can borrow four books or periodicals at a time for two weeks. You can also borrow three DVDs and an audio cassette for a small charge, payable with a service card. Family members can borrow ten books and three DVDs at a time while corporate members can borrow 30 books or periodicals at a time.

Our Library and Information Centre is the best place in Myanmar to start finding out everything you need to know about the UK. With us, you can enjoy an extensive range of books or films, browse the internet and improve your English which can also help you to take internationally recognised UK exams. Our book collection covers a wide variety of subjects from English language learning, literature, and sport to education, business management and information technology. Members of our library also have online access to hundreds of magazines, journals, newspapers and e-books from anywhere in the country and use the internet free of charge in the library.

The Self-access Centre provides a quiet study area to study English on your own. Using the latest materials from our popular EFL collection, you can improve your listening skills, reading skills and study for English exams. For young learners, we house the most comprehensive children’s library in Myanmar.

Knowledge Garden Our children’s library, the Knowledge Garden, has over 10,000 DVDs and five computers dedicated to young learners for fun and learning. We have bright and colourful books for the young ones and a wide range of fiction for the older children. We also have a small collection of reference books for children. Self-access Centre This is the most comprehensive language study centre in Yangon. You can improve your English skills whenever you want-with more than 1,000 titles of listening texts and audio cassettes, reference books on grammer, reading and writing, and preparation for Cambridge and IELTS examinations. Teacher’s Resource Centre You can get exposed to the development in the theory and practice of English language teaching, find out more about new techniques and methods and exchange ideas and issues on teaching English at our Teachers’ Resource Centre. This service is open to all English language teachers who are library members.

Periodical collection You can keep up to date with UK’s and world news by reading leading journals and magazines. Our periodical collection caters to all people with titles ranging from PC Advisor to Private Eye and Marketing Week to Management Today. Reference and information A collection of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, atlases, gazetteers and directiories on a wide number of subjects is available. Internet Discover a world of information on the web, to help you with your studies, reserach, hobbies, or simply to satisfy your curiosity. Members enjoy free access to the Internet on our public access computers. Activites We invite members to attend workshops, talks and other events, at no extra cost. Online book renewal service You can renew the books that you have borrowed from the library by filling in an online renewal form on our website. You will receive a confirmation email from us within two working days. Online catalogue and reservation Browse our catalogue and reserve the resources that you want online. An online reservation fee will be charged from your service card on collection of the item.
