CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE BCIT STUDENT AWARDS 2020
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF BCIT
On behalf of all our exceptional faculty and staff here at BCIT, I am very proud to congratulate this year’s student award recipients on their outstanding achievements. I wish we were able to recognize your achievements with an in-person event as in previous years, but be assured we are no less excited to celebrate you virtually. While the unexpected pandemic erupted, our students persevered, demonstrating the unmistakable BCIT qualities for which they are being recognized. They exemplify everything the almost 55-year-old institute is known for: innovation, drive, and leadership. Whether in business, computing, health sciences, construction, energy, or transportation, our students and alumni are poised to succeed on their future journeys. Congratulations to all our student award recipients! You are not only a true testament to BCIT but also an example of excellence for your peers, your communities, and beyond. It is a privilege to support your growth and success. We can’t wait to see what you achieve next. I’d also like to recognize the support of the community behind our remarkable students. Thank you to BCIT faculty and staff, who go above and beyond every day to ensure our students’ success. We also acknowledge the families of our award recipients—we share the pride you must feel today. Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors, who make the entrance, in-term achievement, and graduating awards possible. Thank you.

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BCIT FOUNDATION
Congratulations to our 2020 award recipients on their extraordinary successes. This has been an exceptional year of challenge and change, and although the world is different, our learners have not been deterred from reaching their goals. Today, we celebrate not only their achievements, but also their adaptability, resilience, and perseverance. The BCIT Foundation is incredibly proud to support and celebrate student success through the BCIT student awards program. This year, we are reminded of the importance of the program and the tremendous impact of these awards. As the world has changed, so have the needs of our students. In concert with our generous donors, we will continue to do our very best to alleviate the financial struggles that come with pursuing higher education, and to celebrate our students’ achievements. BCIT’s donor-funded awards mean more than simply financial support to our students. They allow our award recipients to feel seen and be recognized for their hard work and dedication. Our donors, faculty, and staff give them the confidence to dream bigger, push harder, and realize that no matter how challenging the situation may be, there is a community behind them, cheering for them. To our generous donors, you continue to inspire us through your philanthropic leadership, and for that, we are so grateful. Your unwavering commitment helps our graduates chart their own path to success in our local community, across Canada, and around the globe. To our high-achieving award recipients, congratulations! We are excited to follow your success as you make your way forward. Always remember that BCIT will continue to be here for you and we encourage you to stay connected with the BCIT Alumni Association after graduation. Reach out and share your stories—you are an inspiration for others to follow. Lead forward with passion, integrity, and drive. This is just the beginning.
