Making connections and forging lifelong links for BCIT alumni and student excellence.

BCIT has made a commitment to current students and to graduates to actively support their lifetime career success. We see the relationship between BCIT and the BCIT Alumni Association as a key component of living up to that commitment. With more than 130,000 alumni, and approximately 4,000 new graduates each year, that is a big undertaking. 2009/2010 saw the BCIT Alumni Association focus on four key initiatives which have set the stage for what we believe will be a tremendously productive period heading towards BCIT’s 50th Anniversary in 2014. These are 1) providing benefits and services of value to graduates, 2) generating revenue and raising funds to help deliver on our promises to alumni, 3) celebrating the extraordinary success of grads to illustrate the impact of a BCIT education, thereby raising the institute’s profile and reputation, and 4) directly supporting BCIT students as they pursue their educational and career goals. Through affinity programs and golf tournament proceeds, the BCIT Alumni Association contributed $72,787 to the BCIT Alumni Association Scholarship and Bursary Endowment this year—positioning the fund to reach the $1Million target by May, 2010. To help us

ADAM G. PION, PRESIDENT, BCIT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

laurie clarke

reach this goal, we launched the first comprehensive Alumni Calling Campaign, reaching more than 4,700 alumni by phone and asking them to participate in the Sharing Knowledge, Sharing Success appeal. Despite a difficult economic climate, we are proud to announce that generous alumni have met the challenge. Keeping alumni connected and engaged with the Institute supports both their professional aspirations and the continued success of the BCIT Alumni Association. In May we will release for public comment our proposed five-year plan for the BCIT Alumni Association. The Alumni Board has worked intensely over the past year on preparing this plan, which is closely aligned with the institute’s Strategic Plan. With the guidance of our dedicated board members and capable staff, the BCIT Alumni Association looks forward to a bright future. To all alumni, thank you for your participation and support. We trust you will enjoy reading the reports enclosed herein, that you will be proud of the significant impact being made by your association, and that you value the benefits and services inherent in your membership and ongoing connection to BCIT.

Character and Profile

The BCIT Alumni Association is a thriving organization that inspires passion for the BCIT community, provides leadership with its connection to alumni and excels in offering valuable programs and services.

The phrase “In Demand, Delivering Results,” characterizes not only BCIT alumni, but also our Alumni Association. The association is a dynamic, growing, relevant organization, which is making significant contributions to BCIT’s success. Results-oriented, the Alumni Association is focused on providing value to both its members and the institute. The association’s growing profile underscores that BCIT students who are focused, team-oriented, intensely hardworking and driven to succeed, become alumni with the same qualities and, together, make up an association with those qualities.

Mission The BCIT Alumni Association connects and engages alumni in a lifelong relationship with the BCIT community by providing innovative programs and services which support alumni and student success.
