Meeting Called to Order The meeting was called to order by the Chairperson, Erin Smith, at 5:45 pm. (9 voting members)

Reports Executive & Director
Ashley Steier, VP Finances & Administration • The new programming and event coordinator was hired this week. Michael Van Lane will commence his duties on Wednesday, September 15, 2004. Navdeep Manchanda, Man., Mech., & Process Energy & Natural Res. Chair • Navdeep is presently working on her objective to extend final exams on a 2 week period instead of one. She is developing of a survey.

Misaki Kobayashi, Transportation and Construction Chair • Misaki talked to BCIT about adding recycling bins in classrooms. BCIT will not add any more recycling bins because they will be used as regular trash cans. Jeanneth Jacome, Health Chair • Jeanneth is presently advertising for set and tech representatives for School of Health. She has already received some applications for these positions and also for the Councillor positions. Fred Haiderzada, Electrical / Electronics & CST Chair • Fred has been supporting Karen in her advertising efforts for Shinerama. Susie Da Silva, VP Student Affairs • Susie has been working on Alcohol Awareness Week. It is scheduled for the third week of October, 18 to 22. She has already met with ICBC with regard to this event. • Susie has worked on the funding applications for sanctioned clubs. Owen Fu, Business Chair • Owen has been concentrating on Councillor recruitment. Karen Leung, VP Public Relations & Marketing • See progress report Sarah Ellis, VP Campus Life • Sarah has been helping Karen on the SA booth for Amazing Race. Caroline Gagnon, Director • Nothing to Report Erin Smith, President • Erin has been dealing with some Parking issues. From now on, Susie will be the main contact for the SA on this issue. Susie will educate herself on the topic and will be the link between BCIT, SA and the student population. 2.6 Progress Report Erin informs that Progress Report will review long term objectives, while Report (2.5) will focus on short term duties. Ashley is asking for executives that might be interested in partake in the SA Business Committee: If interested, please email him directly. Questions Period (5 min.) Owen would like to know more about the business committee. Ashley states that all information can be found in the SA Constitution and By-laws. Sarah inquires about the tutoring program. Erin confirms that this program is free to all students and that more information will be found on the website shortly.

Jeanneth inquires about the new email address software. Erin confirms that a tutorial will be developed and distributed to all at the next executive meeting. Navdeep asks if the SA is related to the Pub Crawl advertised on campus. Erin confirms that SA is not associated in any way with this event. SA has strict poster guidelines and if they have not pre-approved by the VP PR and Marketing or are not associated with SA, posters should be removed. Misaki had committed herself to attend a forum on the U-pass hosted by Translink, scheduled for October 1, 2004. However she has a schedule conflict and will not be able to attend the forum. If anyone can replace her, please let her know. Katherine inquires about the feasibility of organizing a beer garden. Karen can be the liaison and help her.

Waiting for prizes from Jim Mitchell. Social Auction - MA is ready for it. Silent Auction - Secured 2 year-long parking passes. Shinerama Party - MA is on top of it. Find out Set/Tech Rep names for all Health Sciences programs, e-mails sent out to staff and faculty to facilitate process. Received information from Nursing Faculty only Post Information on all bulletin boards for HS students about Councillor Recruitment and Set/Tech Reps to contact me. emails to interested students about councillor positions Following up with EDCO on status of the BTech Degree Name change to BScN . System upgrades to accommodate communications with student body. Conducted interviews for events/promotion coordinator Began coordination of Student Initiative Committee schedules are being looked at and announcements regarding meeting dates will be sent out this week.
