This interactive leadership workshop will focus on the critical communication skills that support sharing your vision and building capacity in your organization. Using an Appreciative Inquiry approach you will enhance your own leadership tool kit and strengthen your organization’s foundation.
This workshop will focus on how demographics, individual giving and donor relations are changing the face of fundraising. Fund development staff, executive directors and key volunteers who want to work smarter, not harder, will take away resultsbased information on how to attract new donors while improving relationships with existing ones.
Once upon a time, a group of caring people supported those in need. But the group never created a compelling story. Because that story was lacking, the people and their clients suffered. The end.*
Collaboration, which is central to the sustainability of non profit organizations, can mean many different things. Building partnerships and alliances requires a shift towards authentic engagement with all stakeholders – young and old, traditional and non-traditional partners, funders, staff, clients.
The international political and economic climate is changing and non-profit organizations are feeling the repercussions at the local level. Around the world, non profit organizations are learning new ways to meet human and environmental needs during a time of deep change. In this interactive workshop, you will develop a critical analysis of the emerging role of your organization and explore adaptive strategies.
Experience the fit between your own resources and the contexts in which you serve and lead. Develop your skills in applied leadership through proven coaching practices that are essential to supporting others and nurturing employees to become more accountable in their role. Participants will: • Learn models that support a leadership approach • Explore the process and practice of Appreciative Inquiry • Understand the relationship between beliefs and behaviours • Practice a proven coaching model that gets results Thomi Glover M.A., M.Div., PCC, CMC is a coach, facilitator and management consultant with over 25 years of experience in the private, public and non profit sectors. She is an Associate Faculty Member in the School of Leadership at Royal Roads University and currently facilitates Coaching for Leadership for the Masters in Leadership Program. Everything from youth engagement to legacy giving will be highlighted in this fast-moving day. We will look at your own fundraising activities and help you kick-start the planning process. Participants will: • Create a quick and effective fundraising plan and funder matrix • Develop a donor preference and demographic chart to use for greater engagement • Learn how social media can work for your fundraising campaign • Schedule a series of lunches with funders and donors • Upgrade your media relations program Judy Lightwater has been helping charities create strategic and annual plans, fundraising plans, board of director initiatives and fund development campaigns for over 25 years. Whether it’s a capital campaign, direct mail appeal, government funding or individual giving program, Judy is there to help build capacity for the long term. Learn about the benefits and implications of working across sectors to inspire sustainable, collaborative outcomes. Participants will: • Define collaborative leadership and approaches to build upon their own strengths • Explore the process and continuum of collaboration • Learn concrete ways to achieve collective thinking and sustained, collective action • Identify how to be resilient against the obstacles to collaboration – burnout, power inequalities, territory and money Tracy Smyth and Tammy Dewar, co-authors of Raising the Village, consult with communities to increase collaborative action and champion innovation. Tracy holds a Masters degree in leadership from Royal Roads University focused on multi-agency collaboration. Tammy completed Ryerson University’s Community Collaborations in Support of Children and Youth program and is a trained Co-active Coach with the renowned Coaches Training Institute.
Participants will: • Gain a clear understanding of strategic challenges and opportunities • Learn about successful models and strategies that are thriving during this time • Identify personal and organizational values that provide the ground for success in the emerging environment • Map out an eco-system model of your organization and figure out what needs to change to improve resilience and vitality • Explore Crowd funding and Social Media to successfully engage stakeholders of all ages in co-creation Pravin Pillay MBA, MFA and Kim Haxton HBOR, BA, of Emergent Performance Consulting Ltd, work with leadership teams to deepen awareness and improve vitality, adaptability and resilience. Pravin was instrumental in establishing Doctors Without Borders in Canada. He has nearly 25 years of experience facilitating brainstorming, strategic and project planning, and team alignment sessions with small to large organizations across public, private and not-for-profit sectors. For 17 years Kim has been engaging leaders of all ages through art and nature. Kim’s most recent initiative took her to Haiti with an intervention team where she trained 275 front line workers in a five-step emotional trauma model.
