BCITSA Mentee Application –January Intake The BCIT Student Association (BCITSA) Mentorship Program introduces students to an industry professional. Mentors provide students with guidance in successful business and academic strategies that will ensure success in the student’s future career. Is the Mentorship Program for me? Throughout the years, the term mentor has come to mean a more experienced person who helps guide, support, and counsel a less experienced person through the work world. Mentors share their experience and expertise with a mentee to assist them in their career development and planning. Mentoring is not just teaching – it involves fostering a mentee‘s relationship with a person of experience and helping them prepare for the future. Program Goals • • • • • • • •

Enhance your post-secondary experience by providing first-hand insights to the professional world Friendship and support of your personal aspirations, nurture character development, and provide a leadership role model Development of short and long term goals Be inspired by someone who has walked a similar path and knows what it is like to be a professional in today’s competitive work environment Focus on direct and important career development, sharpen academic focus, and develop effective career planning Assist in the clarification of career goals Enhance your professional network Help you make the transition from the academic world to today’s work world

Chat with the Student Service Manager (15 minutes ) Mandatory two hour training session on January 25 from 5:30-7:30pm Meeting with your mentor 2 hours each month (one of these hours is face-to-face)
