BCIT FALL ORIENTATION 2012 WHAT IT IS: The purpose of BCIT Fall Orientation is to welcome new and returning students to BCIT and familiarize them of the services provided by the BCIT Student Association, as well as all the other services available on-campus. WHEN AND WHERE IT IS: Day one (September 4, 2012): Orientation Day Waves of first year tech & trades students come from the gymnasium and classroom orientation sessions to the Great Hall Expo. At the gym, the new students are given formal welcomes and information by leaders such as such as BCIT President Don Wright, the Student Association President, and others. Photos and registration also take place, as well as supplementary entertainment from projected images (BCITSA events compilation movie as well as texting and tweeting challenges). From here, groups are taken to classrooms to meet instructors who give them more specific information relating to their course work, expectations, textbook lists, and other important information. Students are then guided to the Great Hall Expo and en route enjoy entertainment and food in the courtyard (including The Beat 94.5 FM music on-location, cotton candy, and more). At the Expo, students visit booths from service departments including the library, financial aid, counselling and medical services and services provided by the Student Association. The entire day runs from approximately 9am to 3:30pm.
