Sales Associate Status: Support Staff

Pay Range: $10.75 - $14.00/hr.

Summary

The Sales Associate provides great customer service. The Sales Associate reports to the Retail Manager and assists in achieving the goals of the BCITSA. Job Duties Customer Service

     

Respond to customers’ requests and complaints Offer new and repeat customers efficient service Complete orders from internal staff and student executives Inform customers about promotions and sales Perform product refunds and store credits as per store policy Provide effective assistance in order to prevent shoplifting and other forms of shrinkage

Merchandising

 Keep shelves stocked and create displays to promote featured products  Clean store equipment (i.e. fridge, display cases, coffee machines), working surfaces, and any other area to ensure that operation adheres to health standards  Rotate stock to ensure freshness Vendor Relations and Product Offering

 Meet with various representatives to receive and/or exchange products and order specific products as required  Ensure products are priced according to established guidelines from the retail Manager  Order regular products and try new items to ensure customer satisfaction  Handle transit passes (order, receive, returns) as per policy  Inform staff of any discounted items and any current promotions  Return damaged goods and out-dated stock as directed by store supervisor  Maintain request book to keep track of customers’ wants and needs  Inform store supervisor of any items that are low in stock  Prepare food according to standards (coffee, hotdogs, etc.) and replenish throughout the day as required  Transfer stock items to other store locations as directed by the store supervisor or the retail Manager

Inventory Control

 Assist in the annual inventory process and conduct mini inventories throughout the year on selected merchandise as directed by the store supervisor  Troubleshoot on a regular basis to maintain correct margins, minimum negatives and inform store supervisor of any discrepancies  Write-off stale and out-dated merchandise in the book Banking and Cash Handling

 Carry out sales transactions through preferred method of payment (i.e. cash, debit, credit card, gift certificate)  Count monies in safe in the morning and evening  Balance cash and float every day and record overages/shortages and inform store supervisor  Reconcile daily cash shortages and overages when needed and advise store supervisor of a large sum of money when short or over  Exchange money from bills to coin and order coin as necessary  File all checked cash to sheets for auditing purposes on a daily basis Operational Duties

       

Process purchase orders in Business Vision (BV) as requested by store supervisor File purchase orders and daily deposit sheets for auditing purposes Perform opening and closing procedures Answer phone calls and take messages Maintain a secure facility Input staff and student executive coffee/tea consumption weekly and deliver to accounting Input all coffee cards into system and file weekly Prepare invoices for payment to the accounting department as directed by the store supervisor

 Foodsafe level 1 Education and Experience (Minimum Requirement)

 High school  Six months experience
