2019 BEST COMMUNITY¡COLLEGE/
In the process, I have been able to work with an astounding collection of incredibly capable colleagues who make me proud to be a member of this faculty. More important, I have been surrounded by legions of bright, fascinating, and challenging students, many of whom I am proud to call friends. To this point, I just passed my eighty-first birthday, and received over one thousand emails, text messages, phone calls, and personal greetings on that occasion. Ninety percent or more of those well-wishers were students, some from as far back at the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. It has been said that the best job on earth is being a college professor, for where else can you be told how wonderful you are each and every day. I am truly blessed to have lived that life. I have written well over one hundred professional articles and nine books while at my post. Seven of the latter are textbooks
UNIVERSITY¡PROFESSOR ARNOLD¡LEUNES
ARNOLDLEUNESBOOKS@GMAIL COM I would like to thank The Eagle and its eclectic readership for selecting me as the first recipient of the 2019 Readers’ Choice Award in the Community College/University Professor category. There are many forms of recognition for university teaching, research, and service, and I am pleased to add this to others I have received from the Association of Former Students and several of A&M’s Panhellenic organizations. I first joined the A&M faculty in 1966, ostensibly on a temporary basis. Prior to this time, I was in the latter stages of completing my doctoral studies in Psychology at
the University of North Texas. It seems the department here needed to fill a four-month vacancy and their Chair offered me the position. That four months passed, then a year, then a decade, and I now find myself in the middle of my fifty-fourth year as a member of the A&M Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences faculty here at A&M. It has been a fascinating fivedecade-plus voyage, watching the university grow from a so-so cow college of around 5,000 students to a major player on the national and international scene with an enrollment of 65,000.
BOOKS CAN BE PURCHASED THRU¥ arnoldleunesbooks@gmail.com or at barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com in sport and exercise psychology and the final two are featured here. They are summaries of my first eighty years, with one book devoted to my early years, including nearly a hundred pages about my undergraduate years at all-male, virtually all-military A&M in the late 1950’s. The second volume is composed of assorted thoughts and reminiscences of my
five decades as a professor here at A&M. Rounding out my life blessings are my wife, Judy ‘76, my six children (three of whom graduated from A&M as well as three of their spouses), ten grandchildren (four Aggie graduates), and three infant great grandchildren.

reception year-after-year, the decision was made to make their vast merchandise selection and incredible prices available to Aggies year-round. Located one mile south of Kyle Field, The Warehouse at C.C. Creations is the LARGEST Aggie store in the world with over 20,000 square feet of shopping opportunity. Offering “everything Aggie” from drinkware to headwear to home décor to…
well, T-SHIRTS galore, The Warehouse has been dubbed a must-visit when in Aggieland. Founder and CEO, Kenny Lawson, said that he hopes The Warehouse is thought of as Aggie Disneyland. “We want it to be an experience the moment people walk into our doors. When a first time customer walks into The Warehouse, we want them to have that “WOW” moment that they can’t find anywhere else,“ Lawson said. Katy Lee, Vice President of Marketing at C.C. Creations, said that she remembers the original tent sale and recalls the growth from then to today. “I remember buying my first Texas A&M-branded towel wrap, Aggie t-shirts, hats and drinkware from the tent in 2004. It’s hard to believe that 15 years later and 18,000 square feet bigger, The Warehouse has become what it is today.” Lee also discussed the importance of the partnership between C.C. Creations and The Warehouse at C.C. Creations to Texas A&M University.

Since 2016, C.C. Creations has been ranked the number one licensee (producer) of Texas A&M-licensed products and number one retailer of Texas A&M-licensed products in the world. With over 450 companies reporting production of licensed goods, which generates royalties paid to the university for the use of official marks, C.C. Creations has topped the list for years. As for retailers worldwide, over 3,000 businesses have reported retail sales in 2018 alone. “We are very proud of our
relationship and support of Texas A&M University,” Lee said. With a constant flow of new and fresh designs featuring popular styles, The Warehouse has generated a loyal customer base of Texas A&M Aggies, friends and fans. It’s not uncommon for Aggies, local and not, to frequent the store to check out the newest designs released weekly. Being that Texas A&M is centered around traditions, we’ll leave you the company tagline: “Keep the tradition – Shop The Warehouse!”

Spec’s has been providing exceptional savings on an impressive selection of unique finds for hungry and thirsty Texans. A vital part of their long-running success has been their mission to make and keep customers happy. Back on April 1, 1962, Carroll Jackson – affectionately nicknamed “Spec” because of his
signature eyeglasses – opened the first Spec’s with his wife, Carolynn, in Houston. One day, Spec sketched a caricature of a bunny with glasses, symbolizing his quick, friendly service. People loved it, and it has been the Spec’s logo ever since. In less than 10 years, the demand for more Spec’s locations grew. The Jacksons’ daughter Lindy and her husband John Rydman came on board in 1971, and just three years later, they introduced the largest selection of wines Houston had ever seen. Now with Texas’ largest selection of wines, spirits and beers at more than 100 locations across the state, Spec’s has truly become a destination shopping experience and a Texas institution. “We serve thousands of
people in our stores across Texas,” said Lisa, thirdgeneration spokesperson. “We are constantly striving to get better at what we do, offer a better selection for our customers, improve our customer service and show the public what has been lost in so
much of the retail world.” So whether you’re a firsttime customer or a long-time fan, make sure you shop at Spec’s for an impressive selection of unique products at incredibly low prices and a big helping of hospitality. The fun starts here!

GeorGe bush PresiDential library anD MuseuM 1000 GeorGe bush Drive West, ColleGe station 979-691-4000 • bush41.orG The Eagle readers have shown their appreciation for the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and its ability to tell the story of its namesake, George H. W. Bush, by voting it as this year’s “Best Museum” in the Readers’ Choice Awards. The George Bush Library and Museum, at 1000 George Bush Drive West in College Station, opened in November 1997. “This past fall we celebrated 21 years of being in the Bryan/ College Station community.
During this time we have hosted hundreds of events and over three million visitors. We strive to keep the Bush Library and Museum exciting by bringing unique temporary exhibits while continuing to keep our core exhibits updated to give the best possible experience to our visitors,” said Warren Finch, director of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum. The Bush Library and Museum cares for more than 44 million
pages of official documents and donated collections from George H. W. Bush’s presidency and throughout his public career, as well as more than 120,000 artifacts. Many of these papers and artifacts are on display in the museum and are accessible to researchers online and on site in the research room. The museum also uses primary source documents to enhance its many education programs. The library and museum underwent a major renovation and rededication 10 years after opening -- adding many more interactive exhibits, videos and hands-on activities. Additionally, it features changing temporary exhibits that highlight various aspects of President Bush’s life and career. Finch said the museum is unique because of its ability to tell the story of Bush’s life. “With the recent deaths of the former President and First Lady there has been an outpouring of support from the entire

community. Thank you. Here at the Bush Library and Museum we strive to keep their memory and mission of pubic service alive through interactive museum exhibits, rotating temporary exhibits, pubic programs and events. Thanks to all who vote for us.” Finch said. As President Bush said ‘There can be no definition of a successful life without service to others.’ We hope to continue to serve the community and make the Bush Library and Museum
an exceptional experience for everyone.” The museum has won the award in years past, and Finch said Bush Library and Museum officials are honored to win the accolade again. “We are so pleased to win the Readers’ Choice award again this year. It is a testament to our fine staff, dedicated docents and volunteers who do such great work.”

DAYÂĄCAREÂĄCENTER LONGMIREÂĄLEARNINGÂĄ CENTER Â? LONGMIRE DRIVE COLLEGE STATION
Â? Â? Â? LONGMIRELEARNING COM An Aggie owned and operated local business, Longmire Learning Center was first established in 1984 as The Education Station in Bryan, Texas and was moved to its current location in College Station, Texas, in 1998 and was purchased by Amie McCoy in 2008. Amie is passionate about early childhood education, a mother of 4 herself, and she understands how vital the
program and the staff is to the success at Longmire Learning Center. Our center has a long history of proven and effective results for helping young children, ages 2 to 5, develop the foundational skills for early academic and behavioral success. What makes our program unique is the integrated learning with play and our emphasis on child development not only academically, but also
socially and emotionally. Children at Longmire Learning Center learn while receiving instruction, playing, socializing, cooperating and collaborating. Daily activities encourage listening and following directions, thinking, making choices, selfregulation and pre-academic learning practice. Our staff is key to the success at Longmire Learning Center. Many of our teachers have been with us for 10-15+ years and they are vital to the program and the development of the children in our care. Many families return to us when additional children are added to their families, and the number one thing they love is all the familiar faces at school. Many say we are like their second family. Our parents also love many of the extra-curricular activities we offer such as OPUS Music, TOT Basketball, gymnastics, library trips and summer swim lessons. Our families know that we
love what we do and we love the children in our care. It’s evident as soon as you walk into our school that it is a special place. We want our children to grow and become independent and our families appreciate how hard we work to make that happen. We also won Readers’ Choice Best Day Care Center in 2013. We are honored that the community and our families
recognize the difference we are making in the lives of young children. We are excited to share our program with the community and welcome tours at any time, no appointment necessary! Our staff and children enjoy opportunities to demonstrate what can be done to enhance learning and prepare children for personal and academic success.

Thank You to Our Employees and Customers for Voting Us
2019
Best Chicken Fried Steak
I
want to thank the staff for all their hard work and all our loyal customers for voting for Sodolak’s, I know I didn’t get here by myself. I beg of you to read this though. We are all given a stage to be heard from in this life. Some small and some really large. John the Baptist made the wilderness his stage. He wrote no books, he built no Temple, he didn’t lead God’s people from slavery, he didn’t take God’s people into the promised land. But Jesus said of all who ever lived, there is none greater than John the Baptist. By America’s standards he had no great accomplishments and his life wasn’t grand, but he spent his life pointing to Christ. Day four the sun, stars and moon were created and yet in Genesis 1:3 God said let there be light. This is God bringing forth His Son to separate the darkness from the light. John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the earth.” In Romans 1:20 we are told
we have no excuse for not knowing God because we can see the earth and sky. I pray for all to become children of God by accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Teacher. Each and every single one of us are given an eternal life, it’s up to us to decide on where we want to spend it. The blood shed by Jesus Christ forgave all our sins, but it doesn’t end there. He wants to be King of our life, you just have to let the Holy Spirit in. During His crucifixion there were two thieves crucified with Him, one on each side. One took notice of who He was so Jesus told the criminal, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” The other just mocked Jesus and chose not to acknowledge who Jesus was. We all have a choice. I pray with much love for ALL to choose Christ so we can ALL be together in paradise.

Over the years Britt Rice has continued to grow in a myriad of ways, including an expansive service division (both residential and commercial). Having grown to over 275 electricians that include an impressive 15 master electricians, 75 journeymen electricians and 100 apprentices/helpers, Britt Rice is one of our community’s largest employers. As such, they
have always felt a corporate responsibility to give back in dozens of different ways across dozens of different charities, along with the countless volunteer hours the employees put into the organizations of their choice. Established in 1974, the company recognized early that demand for electrical services in our fast-growing economy would soon outpace the number of trained, qualified electricians available. Britt Rice rose to the occasion and established an on-site, federally-approved apprenticeship program. Now over 20 years old, the program has ensured a steady stream of new electricians of the highest quality and professionalism. Crown Systems is the systems division of Britt Rice Electric. The Eagle’s 2019 Readers’ Choice Award for best police officer. Bryan Firefighter Christopher Lamb Christopher Lamb began his career in public service in 1998. He has worked for Robertson County EMS as a Paramedic, and Chief of EMS. In 2003 Chris joined the Bryan Fire Department and has spent the last 16 years serving the people of the Brazos Valley. “People call 911 because it’s typically one of their worst days or moments of their lives,” says Lamb. “As a paramedic — we’re on the frontline and every second counts.” Chris serves as a Field Training Officer, or FTO, where he trains the paramedics who are freshly hired by the department. “If my family were to ever call 911, my goal (when training new paramedics) is that they’ll be equipped with an unparalleled level of care, compassion and quick thinking that will not only save lives — but make a difference on someone’s worst day. “One of the most gratifying aspects of my career is being able to pass on the knowledge
I’ve obtained over the years to all of the probationary firefighters that make BFD their home,” says Lamb. Chris was Bryan Fire Department’s first “official” Field Training Officer and has been training paramedics for more than 10 years. Firefighter Lamb has also served as a Flight Paramedic for CHI St. Joseph Hospital. He is also currently a SWAT Paramedic for the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office. His dedication, love for the challenge that every day brings is the fuel that keeps him going every day. Due to his knowledge and professional expertise on Drones, Chris was instrumental in launching Bryan Fire Department’s Aerial Response Team in 2018. Chris and his wife Nicole live in Brazos County and have 4 children: Ainsley & Hudson (8-year-old Twins); Charli (5); Grayson (8 months). “Being nominated even in the top 3, was an honor in itself; but to win this award — is truly gratifying. CENTRAL¡TEXAS¡SPORTS¡MEDICINE¡ &¡ORTHOPAEDICS´¡P£A£ 3121 univerSity Drive, Suite 100 • Bryan 979.776.0169 • WWW£CENTEXSPORTSMEDICINE£COM The story of Central Texas Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics began in 1991, when Dr. J.P. Bramhall moved to College Station to become the Texas A&M Team Physician. Dr. Bramhall was himself an accomplished member of A&M’s baseball team. He was selected as team captain his senior year and continues to hold the Texas A&M baseball record for most walks in a season. Dr. Bramhall’s experience in baseball made the thennovel field of sports medicine attractive to him as a medical student. Motivated by the idea
of helping other players perform at their highest capability, he chose to pursue an education in orthopedic surgery. The opportunity to work with the team at his own alma mater made the decision to set up shop here in College Station a no-brainer. Now Dr. Bramhall is the head of a trusted team of physical therapists, athletic trainers, and experts in multiple areas of orthopedic surgery. This variety is an important part of providing exemplary care for a wide range of injuries, said Practice Administrator Kristin
Marcum. “Since we opened, we have added several sports medicine physicians and surgeons that are specialized in specific areas of orthopedic surgery,” Marcum said. “Having a variety of specializations in the office ensures that each patient is being treated by the provider best equipped to handle their problem.” Having been an athlete himself gives Dr. Bramhall an important perspective in how best to serve his customers. With firsthand knowledge of the demands athletes face, he is able
to provide care that goes above and beyond for his patients. But while CTSM has a focus on sports-related injuries, they are equally dedicated to being a quality medical facility to the community as a whole. “Whether your goal is to lose weight, compete in an Ironman, keep up with your grandchildren, or simply live an overall healthier, happier life, we wish to come alongside you in your pursuit of a healthy and active lifestyle,” Marcum said. The physicians and staff at CTSM would like to express their sincere thanks for
receiving the 2019 Readers’ Choice Award, and their commitment to continue to provide quality care for the Brazos Valley. “We are honored and thankful to be chosen by our customers and members of the community for this award,” Marcum said. “We look forward to continuing to serve the community for many more years.” To find out more or request an appointment, visit www. centexsportsmedicine.com or call (979) 776-0169.

to conventional braces for adults.
Elms, his loyal staff and to the great results they produce.
Dr. Elms treats two distinct groups of patients that his practice serves exceedingly well: the young students who are getting braces for the first time and adults who may have had braces as a child and need adjustments to their bite, or adults who have never had braces.
When it comes to youth orthodontics, Dr. Elms is in a league of his own. Students love the Elms experience, beginning with the Orthomobile - which is the free, chauffeured Hummer shuttle, to and from school.
Located conveniently on the Northeast corner of the intersection of the Highway 6 Bypass and F.M. 2818/ Emerald Parkway, Dr. Elms’ building has become the benchmark for what a modern orthodontic practice can be. A huge porte-cochere welcomes cars and knocks the Texas heat off arriving patients. The interior harbors a thousand little touches to make it special - like an in-house movie theater and iPads at each treatment station.
For adults, the treatment choices are becoming increasingly diverse and effective. Ranging from iBraces, that are invisibly installed on the back of teeth; Clarity ceramic braces that are translucent and nearly invisible; and Invisalign, which are not braces at all, but a clear aligning system that has become very popular within recent years. These and other techniques all offer effective alternatives
Fun is also a big component for the student patients, including the most anticipated Elms summer event – the annual Adamson Lagoon swim party, where hundreds of patients from the Brazos Valley have the party of the summer, courtesy of Elms Orthodontics. Dr. Elms has not only managed to create a truly special environment, but has done so without compromising orthodontic quality. This combination is what endears patients to Dr.
If you are considering braces for your child or yourself, give Dr. Elms a visit. It will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made and one of the best experiences. You’re going to love Elms Orthodontics!

Listen Hear Audiology Center was founded on providing the highest level of hearing health care in Bryan and College Station, and being voted as “Best Audiologistâ€? is a true honor. Founded in 2009 by Dr.
Herring, Listen Hear Audiology Center has grown and has cared for over 4,000 people during that time. Many local physicians and caregivers regularly refer their patients for hearing care because they trust the services provided by Dr. Herring and his staff. Listen Hear Audiology Center provides a number of services including: • Comprehensive hearing
testing • Hearing aid evaluation and fitting with multiple brands and lines from which to choose • Hearing aid repair and maintenance • Pediatric and adult care • Newborn hearing screening • Custom hearing protection including electronic noise plugs for hunters and marksmen • Swim plugs • Tinnitus consultations Dr. Herring has invested significantly in new equipment over the past year, including a new state-of-the-art Real Ear Measurement (REM) system. REM, also called probe microphone measurement, is an advanced way to measure the output and function of hearing aids while in the patient’s ears. A tiny microphone is placed a few millimeters from the eardrum, and testing is performed with and without the hearing aid. The hearing aids are then adjusted to meet very specific prescriptive targets for the individual’s hearing loss. Because we all have differently

shaped ears and ear canals, REM gives much better objective measurements for a precise hearing aid fitting. No guessing, just science. REM is what the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association recommends as best
practices. That is the difference in Listen Hear Audiology Center’s approach to helping people hear better. Dr. Herring is accepting new patients, and is only a phone call away to beginning the journey to better hearing.

2019 BEST PIZZA
HOWDY’S¡TEXAS¡ GRILL’D¡PIZZA ¦³±¡WILLIAM¡D£¡FITCH¡PKWY´¡SUITE¡³±± College Station • 979.316.4900
WWW£HOWDYSPIZZA£COM Howdy’s Texas Grill’d Pizza was born in 2016 when a group of College Station, TX friends asked the question; with all of the different styles of pizza out there, why isn’t there a “Texas-Style” pizza? So, we went on a search and found nothing! In bold Texas-style, we decided to make it happen ourselves. We spent over a year and a half perfecting the process and recipes for making our Texas-style “Flash Grilled” pizza. We tested our pizza with nearly 3,000 Texans and their input helped us to develop what we believe is the best expression of Texas on a pizza. Our first flagship restaurant location opened in March 2019 in South College Station Texas. Howdy’s first and most important business is taking care of people. We do that through dang good Texas Grill’d Pizza. We say, “Howdy’s is a pizza joint with the soul of a great Texas BBQ shack”. Our pizza focuses on using the best quality ingredients, authentic Central Texas BBQ that we smoked ourselves using a 119-year old recipe and process. But, great pizza starts with great dough. The foundation of a Texas Grill’d pizza starts with an amazing dough. The fact is, there’s no shortcut to making amazing pizza dough. Most pizza chains use their dough the same day they make it. They tell you it’s “fresh”, but they fail to mention that great pizza dough needs several days of proofing to develop amazing flavor. In fact, Authentic New York pizza dough proofs a minimum of 2 to 3 days to achieve that worldfamous flavor, and so does Howdy’s. The result is a pizza crust that’s chewy, flexible, flavorful, and never bland and tasteless. No shortcuts and never frozen. 70 | J u n e 3 0 , 2 0 1 9
We tested countless different ways to achieve the perfect grill’d crust. We discovered the best crust results came when we hand tossed the dough, then brushed with clarified butter and seasoned the crust with our Howdy’s seasoning, grill’d it, topped it, and finished it in our Italian stoneconveyor oven at 700 - 800 degrees for about 90 to 120 seconds. Hands down, it was the preferred crust. You get all of that awesome open flame grilled flavor, but a crispier more flexible crust that folds like a NY style but holds up to those amazing Texas toppings. Sheer perfection! We also make our sauces in house, with an emphasis on freshness and quality. In fact, the tomatoes we use are steam peeled to protect flavor and quality, versus the cheaper chemically peeled tomatoes used by the majority of the pizza places out there. Our main pizza sauce is actually smoked in our smokers. It imparts a wonderfully smokey and unique flavor to our pizza sauce. We also have traditional pizza sauce, and our Howdy’s Yankee Sauce which is like a classic NY style sweet sauce with only a few ingredients. We’re also known for our Smokehouse BBQ sauce which was crafted to work better with our high heat ovens and pairing with our various smoked meats. Howdy’s menu features Smoked Meat Pizzas with toppings like premium brisket, sausage, steak, and pulled pork. Our Smoked Chick’n pizzas include our hand-pulled smoked chick’n and flavor packed crispy chicken skin. We’re also proud of our Veggie Lover’s pizzas, our goal was to bring incredible flavor and a thoughtful
approach to creating pizzas that vegetarians and non-vegetarian’s alike will love. We also have all of the traditional pizza toppings that people know and love. Our most popular pizzas include the Texan, with smoked brisket, smoked sausage, Smokehouse BBQ sauce, fried onions, and fried jalapenos. Other pizzas include pulled pork, smoked flat-iron steak, and have names like the Cattlebrand, the Smokehouse, the Hillbilly Hawaiian, the Hoot-n-Holler, and the Roundup (our Ultra-Supreme pizza). Our popular Chick’n pizzas are the Smoking Hen, and the Flaming Yard Bird, and our popular Veggie Lover pizzas include; the Street Corn Named “Desire”(Elotes), the Smoking Mushroom, the Texa-rita (Margherita), and the Brussel Crowe to name a few. It begins with our commitment to delivering “Joy and Wow” with big Texas smiles, to friendly faces through dang good Texas Grill’d Pizza. Bottomline, amazing guest experience is our top focus. Howdy’s is about family and community, our goal with our first Howdy’s location was to really focus on family and the communal nature of pizza. The market has really begun to focus on hyper-personalization of pizzas in individual servings, there’s nothing wrong with customizing pizza, but for us, we believe pizza has always been about family, friends, sitting around a table and sharing a pizza, talking, and connecting. Families love dining in at Howdy’s, and we love seeing our tables filled up with people laughing, sharing stories, and eating great pizza together. In fact, pro-tip, many of our local families use the basket on the table where we house condiments to stick their cell phones while they’re having a meal together. We created “Texas Style Pizza”, which is “Flash Grill’d Crust + Big Bold Texas Flavors”, or as we call it, “Texas Grill’d Pizza”. Our main focus is on translating amazing Texas food traditions we all know and love into pizzas people will love. Our food is about flavor, we refer to it as “Approachable Texas Gourmet”. Our goal is to honor the fact that when guests choose Howdy’s, they deserve value for money, they deserve to be treated amazingly well, and they deserve pizza that’s actually worth eating. The problem with a $5 R e a d e r s ’ C h o i c e Aw a r d s
cheap pizza is, once you’ve paid for it, you actually have to eat it. First, we’re super humbled by the award. Based on what we’ve heard from our guests, they’re loving the whole Howdy’s concept of “Texas Grill’d Pizza”, starting with the food, the service, the restaurant environment, and the value for money. We’ve only had the store opened for a little over three months, and to have this kind of response is above and beyond our expectations. Our guests tell us they love the unique flavors, the quality of the ingredients, and the crust blows people away. Most importantly, we work hard to listen and take on input and feedback very quickly. Our people are the secret ingredient. We are blessed to have a really special team. We’re proud of how hard they work, how much they care about our guests, and how passionate they are about making Howdy’s Texas Grill’d Pizza the pizza of choice for people in College Station and Bryan. What we really love is how this is an award from the people who matter most, the people who actually come to Howdy’s week after week. There’s no shortage of places people can go to eat, and especially for regular pizza, so when guests choose Howdy’s we never take that for granted. As an owner group, we’re pretty open about our faith in Jesus Christ, we’re grateful to God for the opportunity to serve others, to bring something truly original and unique to the market, and to be blessed to create jobs for some truly special people who work at Howdy’s every single day. We’ve only had the restaurant opened since March 2019, so that’s been a huge thing for us. We started on this journey back in September 2016. It took a long time to bring the whole concept to market. A lot of people didn’t believe us when we told them people would love “Texas Grill’d Pizza”. We had to overcome a ton of challenges. All along we knew that what we had would be a real game-changer in the pizza-as-usual business. We we’re blessed that we got to test our pizza out of a test kitchen and have nearly 3,000 people try our pizza before we even opened the restaurant. Their feedback was critical to getting this dialed in and creating something truly exciting and unique. Now that we’re open it’s rewarding to hear all the positive feedback, see how the community
has embraced Howdy’s and read the crazy number of positive reviews we’ve received in such a short time. People often ask us, how many locations we have, and where is this chain based. We love to tell them that this is the flagship location, and we’re proud to have launched this here in College Station. Now, we can show them that College Station is proud to have Howdy’s Texas Grill’d Pizza based here as well, and that’s the best thing we could ever ask for really. We get asked a lot about our plans for expansion. We definitely have some big goals in that area. We want to see “Texas Grill’d Pizza” become a true state-wide point of pride and preference. This is such an amazing state to do business in, and Texans are deeply loyal to authentic Texas brands. Our goal is to build one of those great Texas brands, first, we’ll grow it big here in Texas and then take beyond. Howdy’s is designed to ultimately be a franchise, but, it all starts with doing an amazing job here in South College Station day-in-andday-out serving our neighbors and friends dang good Texas Grill’d Pizza every time they visit or order. We’ll let tomorrow take care of itself. When it comes to products, we have some exciting things in the works. There are so many exciting facets to Texas cuisine that we can’t wait to explore further. Also, our focus is on representing modern Texas, and given the cultural diversity of this great state, and even the wonderful melting pot that is College Station thanks to the University, we look forward to bringing some exciting flavors to the table that we know people are going to really love. We’ll also be launching breakfast in the near future with amazing breakfast rolls, breakfast pizzas (yes, that’s a thing and they are amazing), and we look forward to expanding our options for Gluten-free, Keto, and Vegetarians as well. We have more ideas than days in the year, but it starts with getting the fundamentals right, and so we’re slow rolling with many of those things to make sure we can deliver them with excellence every single time. Our guests deserve nothing less.
