7.30pm (Sat matinee 2.30pm) Thistle Theatre Company return with one of the most uplifting stories ever written. Set during the dark and dangerous build-up to the Second World War, Goodnight Mister Tom follows sad young William Beech who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and builds a remarkable and moving friendship with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley. All seems perfect until William is devastatingly summoned back to London by his mother. This tale of two broken souls will appeal to children and adults alike as it celebrates the values of love and friendship.
Eilidh has never left her island. Every day is the same. Same chores, same people, same conversations. She stands on the cliffs and dreams of the Bigland over the sea. Then one day a boy from faraway is washed up on the shore – and with him, events that will change her life forever. Boldly exploring themes of war, migration and identity, Islander is a play with songs for everyone 8 years and older. Blending dramatic action, epic storytelling and a cappella song, the performers live-record and layer their voices with looping technology to create a feast for the ears and imagination. Islander is a collaboration between director Amy Draper, composer Finn Anderson and playwright Stewart Melton, produced by Helen Milne.
This amateur production of “Goodnight Mister Tom” is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH LTD.

Formed in the 1970s in Leicester from several local bands, they have sold more than 20 million records and have toured all corners of the world. Their live show is dynamic and uplifting, featuring all of their biggest hits such as Under The Moon of Love, Three Steps to Heaven, Hey Rock & Roll, When, Blue Moon, Pretty Little Angel Eyes and many, many more. A frightened, starving boy and his only friend, a crow, encounter a man on the edge of society trying to forget his past. Their meeting begins a surreal journey where magical realism meets real-life media broadcast on life in present day UK. NESTS is a contemporary tale for Scotland’s Year of Young People that questions how our society treats the young and vulnerable. It questions the stories we tell ourselves and the impact we all have on each other. Each of us should have someone looking out for us. Each of us should have someone who takes responsibility for us. Each of us should have someone who loves us. But do we? For audiences of adults and young people over the age of 12. Image by Mihaela Bodlovic

With multi-media visuals, set and costume by Annette Gillies (designer of BAFTA Award winning TV series) and a soundscape by digital composer Tony Morris, this is a night out at the opera you won’t want to miss. International opera singers Christina Dunwoodie and William Turner have sung extensively on the operatic stage in the UK and Europe. Their careers in concert and oratorio have taken them throughout Europe, the UK, Russia, UAE and South America. Music Director Julia Strehle-Lynch is one of the busiest accompanists in the country with a concert career that has taken her to London, Tokyo, Geneva and Germany.

Why do clouds multiply in inexplicable ways? Why do sand eels just disappear from the sea? In an uncertain world, a girl meets a puffin and a puffin meets a girl. This is the story of a girl and her friendship with a puffin. Through their friendship they learn how to deal with change, even climate change. Using music and movement Puffin explores our relationships with and our responsibilities to each other, wildlife and the world around us. A classic ‘girl meets puffin’ story for everyone 7+. Greenock Light Opera Club presents 9 to 5 The Musical, with music & lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged”, the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she? This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International (Europe). All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI Europe www.mtishows.co.uk *Please note that concession only available Thursday evening & Saturday matinee.

“One of the most exciting bands on the Scottish folk scene” (Songlines) RURA are a multi award-winning act, and one of Scotland’s most sought-after folk-based bands. With three heralded albums - most recently, 2018’s lauded In Praise of Home - and extensive international touring, RURA are one of Scotland’s most powerful groups. Their exquisitely rugged yet refined blend of fiddle, Highland pipes, flute, bodhran, guitar and voice has won a devoted following in many corners of the globe, amongst audiences and critics alike. The group’s fire first ignited in 2010, as awardwinners at Glasgow’s world-renowned Celtic Connections festival, where they have now appeared on a remarkable seven occasions – taking just one year off from their formative award win. Their media profile is similarly huge, with numerous national radio and television appearances, including BBC1’s Hogmanay Live, broadcast live to the world over New Year 2016/2017 from Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket.

Unbecoming is an invitation to a private world, a unique and delicate space where pretence slips away. A solo performance, written and performed by Anna Porubcansky of Company of Wolves, that is part theatre and part music gig. Image by Graeme MacDonald
