Welcome As the new head of the brilliant Beacon Arts Centre, it is my pleasure to introduce you to our new summer programme. Having recently moved to Inverclyde, I have received such a warm welcome from so many people and I have lots to learn about the community and this amazing area. The excellent team here will continue to create an arts programme that showcases the best of local talent along with bringing top quality entertainment to our wonderful audiences. Beacon Arts Centre is a fine working example of how the arts have an important role in the social and economic regeneration of an area. I strongly believe that our community arts and dance projects are among the best in Scotland and we have the creative vision to develop these projects and make an even greater impact on the community. Turning to our new programme, we are thrilled to have the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Adam perform in May. If it’s quality music you’re after, then I hope you can catch The James Brothers’ first performance at the Beacon. I have been amazed at the talent of local groups such as Thistle Theatre and Total Kayos. Thistle Theatre will be returning with their performance of
Alice in Wonderland and Total Kayos will be here with Disney’s Mulan in June. Of course, the Beacon Arts Centre is not just about the glamour of big shows or the intensity of a studio acoustic set, it is also about our arts and creative workshops, along with dance classes and youth drama projects. This programme could not be created without public funding from Inverclyde Council, Creative Scotland and the many other funding bodies along with the generous support from our audiences and patrons and I say a huge thank you to all for supporting the Beacon. Another great reason to visit the Beacon Arts Centre is our fantastic Bistro and we have some very tasty new dishes for you to enjoy and I really hope you get to try our new Sunday menu. Hope to see you soon. Sean Paul O’Hare Chief Executive Officer
