Spring Ahead! Allergy Avoidance

house several times a day.

An Answer

A few simple steps can reduce and remove allergens.

Ah, Spring: Flowers in bloom, birds on the wing, fun in the sun‚ and itchy eyes, runny noses, sneezing, coughing, hives, wheezing, fatigue and difficulty breathing for the more than 60 million Americans the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America say suffer from asthma or allergies. But there can be a solution.

The Problem

Even the cleanest home can harbor all sorts of indoor allergens. Unseen contaminants and air pollutants including dirt, dust, pet dander, cigarette smoke, mold, mildew and chemicals. They get pulled into your home’s HVAC system and recirculated throughout the

Pet dander: Regularly steam clean your furniture, carpets, and window coverings. De-cluttering gives dander fewer places to hide. And regularly bathing your dog or cat sends excess dander down the drain.

Mold and mildew: Use mold inhibitors in your paints, clean your bathroom and kitchen with mold-busting products and use a dehumidifier or air purifier.

Air system filtration: Change air fil-

ters monthly. Consider HEPA filters, designed to catch the tiniest particles of pollutants. Schedule a professional air duct cleaning: A good way to be sure you’ll get the job done right is to hire a National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) member through the online directory at http://nadca.com/ en/prosearch/all.

NADCA members have technicians on staff with advanced training and certification in HVAC system cleaning.

Travel. For some, the pure love of travel courses through their veins like lifeblood. Now that the world has literally opened up again, the desire to travel has exploded ~ and taken some new and exciting directions. Just ask Rhode Island’s very own “celebrity chef”, Chef Walter Potenza.

Many may recognize Chef Walter from his many appearances on Channel 6’s weekend cooking segments.

Others may know him from his culinary school, aptly named Chef Walter’s Cooking School ~ one here in Rhode Island, another in Dubai (yes, you heard it, Dubai!). Some may even know him from his years as a restauranteur. Chef Walter is a busy man, and his life got a whole lot busier when he took his passion for travel, for cuisine, for teaching and for exploring the world to a whole new level.

Today, as he has done since 1996, Chef Walter leads Culinary Tours throughout

Italy. Combining his love of his homeland (he is a native of Abruzzo, Italy) with his true calling as a Master Chef who specializes in Italian and Jewish cooking and who has a lifelong commitment to the sustainability of the planet, he takes his guests on sensory journeys through this famous country. Chef Walter calls these private tours ~ led by an authentic Italian chef ~ “Flavors & Knowledge Tours with Chef Walter.” And this is exactly what they are.

Wine tastings throughout Italy. Cheese tastings throughout Italy. Dessert tastings throughout Italy. It is a culinary dream which cannot be duplicated or imitated. It is the best of the best, by the best of the best.

If you think Chef Walter’s culinary tours are ordinary, you haven’t met Chef Walter. He is knowledgeable, thorough, talented, dedicated and an excellent host. He has also done his due-diligence

with “pre-tours”; these are tours that he takes before the actual paid tours of his travelers.

Walter scours the countryside, looking for the best vineyards, the best cucinas, the best chefs, the best accommodations, the most environmentallyconscientious forms of transportation. His years of travel have introduced him to people around the regions of Sicily, Palermo, Tuscany (and more) with whom he has developed enduring relationships. They work closely with him to create the most authentic, experience-based, hands-on tour possible. Travelers get to go “behind the scenes” to see and taste and feel the most unforgettable gastronomic experiences of a lifetime.

These culinary tours are held twice a year ~ best to book at least six months in advance as the tours are intentionally kept small and intimate. They run in the spring & fall. The tours are seven days/eight nights. The cost includes everything but your flights and any incidentals. They involve lots of eating and only moderate walking.

Come “Admire & Taste Italy through the Eyes & Palate of a Chef.”

To schedule your tour, contact Master Chef Walter Potenza at 401-273-2652 or at www.ChefWalter.com.

KOVELS ANTIQUES AND COLLECTING

#12345_20230403

FOR RELEASE APRIL 3, 2023

PHOTO CAPTION: “Wiener” dogs may not come from Vienna, but this gold-colored letter opener did. It was made by Werkstatte Hagenauer and sold for $813 at a Rago auction.

Wiener Dogs

It’s a Wiener dog from a Wiener workshop! Vienna, Austria, or “Wien” in German, was a major European cultural center. The Weiner Werkstatte may be the most famous Viennese workshop of the 20th century, but it was not the only one.

This dachshund-shaped letter opener sold for $813 at a Rago auction. It was made by Werkstatte Hagenauer, which was founded in Vienna by goldsmith Charles Hagenauer in 1898. Like many studios, it was a family business. Hagenauer’s sons became influential art deco designers. The workshop closed in the 1980s. Now there is a museum and shop on its former premises.

Despite their name, Wiener dogs did not originate in Vienna, but in Germany. Officially called dachshunds, the breed has plenty of nicknames based on its long, thin, sausage-like shape.

Q:Ihave a necklace made of clear faceted beads that I was told were crystal. Does this mean they are cut glass or rock crystal?

A:“Crystal” can be used for both rock crystal and cut glass. Some makers and collectors use the term for any colorless clear glass. To add to the confusion, both rock crystal and glass beads are found in antique and vintage jewelry.

Rock crystal is a clear, colorless quartz stone fashionable in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Some 19th-century cut glass was made to resemble rock crystal until about 1860, when colored glass became popular. “Paste” stones, or glass stones that imitate precious gems, were invented around 1730 and have been used in costume jewelry since then.

Glass jewelry was especially popular in the early 1900s. From about 1918 to the 1930s, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic and Slovakia) exported glass beads, faceted glass stones and finished jewelry all over the world. The necklaces are often marked “Czechoslovakia” on the clasp.

To tell whether your beads are stone or glass, hold them in your hand. Glass feels about room temperature and will grow warmer as you hold it. Stone is colder to the touch and takes longer to warm up. Natural rock crystal is more valuable than cut glass.

TIP: Your diamond or precious-stone jewelry — antique or modern — should be reappraised every other year for insurance value. *

How To Start A Business:

What You Need To Know

Before You Launch

(NAPSI) Congratulations!

You’ve decided to start a business‚ you’re about to embark on an exciting and challenging journey. Before you dive in headfirst, however, it may pay to take time to understand how to start a business the right way and what it takes to position your startup for success.

Here’s Everything You Need To Know About How To

1. A Clear Understanding of Your Purpose: Why are you embarking upon this business venture? And why now? Get clear on your WHY. It may seem obvious but if you don’t understand why you’re starting your business, neither will your customers. Your WHY should reflect your business‚ purpose‚ its reason for existence. For example, maybe you recognized an unmet need in your community or perhaps you improved upon an existing product. It’s important to be clear about the intention of your business and the value you provide to customers.

uct or service, including what makes it viable in your market. Market research that demonstrates an understanding of your industry and your competition. Research your biggest competitors to understand what makes them successful. A SWOT analysis that delineates your business‚ strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

TAVERN ON THE HILL has immediate openings for Line Cooks, Prep Cooks, Dishwasher, Bartenders & Closing Manager. Cooks will be paid by experience, willing to train the right person. Apply within 809 Nooseneck Hill Road, West Greenwich after 4PM.

Start A Business

Whether your startup is creating something new in the marketplace, improving upon an existing product or anything in between, founders need three key elements to get started. When you’re ready to kick off your startup, be prepared with the following:

2. A Business Plan: Would you go on a road trip without a map? The answer is probably no. You need directions to get where you’re going. The same rule applies when starting a business.

With a business plan, you can plot a course from startup to success. Plans typically include:

A summary of your business, including the product or service you’re selling, your mission statement and current team members. A breakdown of your prod-

A compelling marketing strategy that illustrates how you’ll attract and retain customers. Financial projections that show potential investors the viability of your business. Include a financial forecast for the next one, five, or even ten years. As you work through your business plan, check out SCORE’s Startup Roadmap. It offers a step-by-step online guide to help you create a thorough plan for your new business.

3. A Strong Support System: Your business is more likely to be successful with a support system. Surround yourself with people who can offer guidance, encouragement and constructive criticism. That may be friends or family who have

a strong understanding of your market, experience running a business, or members of your professional network willing to give you their time and perspective. Identifying a mentor is one of the best moves an entrepreneur can make. And the reasons are well-founded. Small business clients who receive more than three hours of mentoring report higher revenues and increased business growth, according to SCORE data. Mentors are often business professionals with experience operating a healthy business who can guide you through your entrepreneurial journey. They act as a sounding board as you grow your business, connect you with resources and provide advice when you hit bumps along the way.

As you prepare to launch your business, SCORE can connect you with a mentor to help you along your journey. With expertise in all aspects of starting and growing a business, SCORE mentors can guide you to resources and tools that can help you succeed.

• I purchase rotisserie chickens and use the meat for different things — soup, casseroles, etc. I have a trick to getting the skin off. My hand strength isn’t what it used to be, and those birds are slippery. I use a paper towel to grip the skin, and pull the meat and bone right out. It works well on a raw bird too. — L.A. in Florida

• To re-whiten socks or washcloths, try boiling a pot of water and adding a sliced, juiced lemon. Soak the items for at least an hour, and then pick out the lemon and add the pot — water and all — to a load of wash.

• If there are crushed cookies in a pack I purchase, I set them aside in a plastic baggie in the freezer to use on ice cream. Yummy! — R.L. in Alberta, Canada

• If you have been cooking in the oven and have a pan that’s got cookedon food, you can get it clean without all the scrubbing. Immediately after cooking, while the oven is still hot, add enough water to cover the bottom of the pan and a little dishsoap. Put it in the oven until the oven is cool. The residual heat will work on the stuckon food while you are dining, and it’ll wipe right out. — W.O. in Minnesota

• When washing out stockings, add a tablespoon of vinegar to the rinse water, and they will retain their elasticity better.

• Wintergreen oil makes a lovely room freshener. Put two drops on a cotton ball and tuck it into the cushions of your couch, or hide it under a lamp pedestal … anywhere out of the way. The scent drifts over a week or so. — G.T. in Delaware

Tips to improve financial literacy

Financial planning is a key component of successful money management. When financial plans are established and put in place, individuals are in much better position to achieve both short-term goals, like financing a dream vacation, and long-term aspirations, like retiring with enough money to live your golden years without worry.

No one is born knowing how to handle and manage money. Financial literacy is an acquired skill, which means anyone can learn how to manage money effectively. The following are a handful of ways individuals from all walks of life can improve their financial literacy.

• Crack the books (and magazines)

A wealth of resources are available to anyone looking to become better at managing money, and many of those resources are books and magazines. Printed works are available for people with varying levels of financial literacy, so it’s unlikely that any single text or magazine will benefit everyone equally. Find a text that speaks to your level of literacy and build from there.

• Pay attention to financial news.

The days when financial news was limited to industry insiders or a handful of industry publications are long gone. Various online entities and cable television channels are now exclusively devoted to financial news. Anyone can benefit from paying attention to financial news, which can shed light on investments, real estate and financial industry trends that can help people better understand their portfolios and assets.

• Read your emails. Adults who already have retirement accounts and other investments may also have an

invaluable resource right inside their email inboxes. Investment management firms like The Vanguard Group, Inc., routinely host online information sessions and discussions for investors that are promoted through email and other lines of communication with account holders. When promotional emails announcing these sessions are announced, take note and resolve to participate. Many don’t require active participation, but they often provide insight into

financial products, markets and strategies to successful investing.

• Ask questions. It seems simple, but one of the most effective ways to gain greater financial literacy is to ask questions. If you work with a financial planner or are interviewing professionals to help you manage your money, ask that person to explain their financial strategy and the strategy espoused by their firms. When a new short- or even long-term goal pops up on your radar,

“Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields” (NR) — From filmmaker Lana Wilson, this documentary follows the journey of actress and model Brooke Shields as she skyrockets to fame in the U.S. Titled “Pretty Baby” in homage to her big-break role at age 12 in “Pretty Baby” (1978), this film touches on the intense sexualization and exploitation she suffered in the acting industry at such a young age. Shields choosing to speak out on this is no easy feat, but hopefully this propels other industry greats like her to continue to speak out on the sexual exploitation that remains in Hollywood to this day. Out now. (Hulu)

“The Big Door Prize” (TV-MA) — In a small town called Deerfield, an odd yet inspiring phenomenon sweeps over its residents. A mystical machine deemed the Morpho appears in the middle of a grocery store, and this machine apparently has the power to reveal a person’s life potential. All it takes is inserting a coin and then placing your hands atop the machine. A small card then pops out with the role describing your biggest potential in life (dancer, model, healer, etc.). One man named Dusty (Chris O’Dowd) watches in awe as the citizens in Deerfield begin uprooting their lives just from what the Morpho tells them, but the curiosity of what could be might just get to Dusty in the end. The first three episodes of this series are out now, with the following seven premiering weekly every Wednesday. (AppleTV+)

“Beef” (TV-MA) — This new series

is the next and best project produced by A24, the entertainment company currently reeling from their latest Best Picture win at the Oscars for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Steven Yeun and Ali Wong star as two strangers, Danny and Amy, who get into a road rage scuffle. Danny and Amy let this one incident take over their entire lives, and they will stop at nothing until either one of them gets their revenge. This 10-episode comedy-drama series premieres April 6. (Netflix)

“On a Wing and a Prayer” (PG) — In this drama film based on a true story, Dennis Quaid (“Parent Trap”) and Heather Graham (“The Hangover”) portray married couple Doug and Terri White, who embark on a private plane ride with their daughters that is supposed to land in Louisiana on Easter Sunday. However, once they hit the skies, the pilot suddenly dies from a heart attack mid-flight, forcing Doug to take control of the plane. With the help of an experienced pilot named Cory, Doug must follow Cory’s instructions to keep his family safe and land the plane without having any prior flying experience. Talk about the ultimate family bonding session! Premieres April 7. (Prime Video)

The Love/Hate Relationship of GRADING

In today’s collecting world when it comes to comic books, trading cards, toys, and video games you typically now hear the word “graded” in the same sentence. It’s been over twenty years since professional grading has entered the collectibles market, but more than ever over the past five years have we seen it become the forefront of people’s interest in the space.

“Graded” means that a professional, third party company has taken your collectible and encapsulated it within a protective holder while also assigning a numeric value representing its condition. Higher the grade, better the example, making it rarer and ultimately increasing its value, and in some cases exponentially. I happen to focus on pop culture, but coins, paper money, sports cards, autographs, stamps and now even VHS tapes and posters are all gradable items.

Grading ensures the items are properly represented and gives collectors an added level of security if their item is real, has no restoration, and no issues that may not be immediately apparent. There is no question a graded example is always going to sell for more when it comes to high end collectibles. A collector is going to bid more confidently knowing the comic book is a true 9.4 compared to a raw copy appearing near mint.

Especially through COVID, collectors have bitten into

this system full throttle, accelerating the market. It has taken what was once a simple past time of collecting and making it a commoditized asset no different than your stock portfolio or trading on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. It’s fast paced; demand and values can change overnight. While the majority have embraced the system and are okay with never actually reading their comic book or touching their toy, there is still a dedicated group who go against the grain and do not believe in

encapsulation.

Should a comic book be read, a poster displayed, or should all these things we love be sealed in acrylic to never be touched by human hands again? They are just playthings anyway, right? Some argue collectible toys, trading cards, and comics were meant to be handled in the first place, but in my opinion, grading is a necessary evil. I started collecting at nine years old with Transformers, and I still to this day prefer them displayed. I do not like loose toy grading, but if it’s a good piece and it is factory sealed it has to go into acrylic - It is just the way the world works today.

The warning I have for you is that while grading is good - it is also very expensive. You can quickly spend too much money grading items that should not be graded because the quality or the collectability is so low. That’s why when deciding to part with your collection, it is always best to seek help from a trusted expert. You never want to sell outright; working on consignment maximizes the potential value of your collection!

If you’re into graded collectibles, Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is hosting a Graded Showcase Auction consisting of comic books, toys, and video games all to be sold individually and in graded condition on Saturday May 6th in Cranston, Rhode Island – Come check it out!

Springtime Perfection: Easy and Colorful Meringue Cookies With a Secret Twist!

Could these cookies be any more perfect for springtime? I think not. They’re sweet, pastel and light as a feather. The technique of making meringue has been used in European baking since the 17th century and is a staple ingredient in classic desserts like pavlova and lemon meringue pie.

While they look impressive, they’re astonishingly easy to make. And if I can make these, you can make these. Let everyone think you moonlight as a pastry chef in a French patisserie. It’ll be our secret.

Speaking of secret, there’s an unexpected ingredient in these meringue-based cookies. We use gelatin dessert powder (such as Jell-O brand). Besides giving these cookies their beautiful colors and fun fruity flavors, the gelatin makes the meringue exceptionally stable and very easy to work with. The stable texture makes using a piping bag with a tip to create beautiful flower shapes easy and fun.

I imagine my dear readers rolling their eyes thinking, “She’s lost her mind. Not only is she expecting us to make meringue, but she wants us to use a piping bag.” Believe me, I used

to be scared of both things, too. But as I said, if I can do this, anybody can.

If you can use a mixer, you can make meringue. You simply whip the egg whites, adding sugar and gelatin powder. If you choose not to pipe them, just plop by the spoonful and bake. Using a piping bag is great fun. I have no piping skills whatsoever! The internet is filled with easy instructional videos. You can invest in some reusable bags and a few tips for under $5. Any mistakes you make you can scoop back into the bag and try again. Or just eat them. I won’t tell.

PASTEL MERINGUE COOKIES

Yield: approximately 36 cookies

Total Time: 2 1/2 hours

4 egg whites

1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 cup sugar

1 (3 ounce) box gelatin, any flavor

reach soft peak stage, gradually add the sugar one tablespoon at a time. Continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Turn mixer to low and gradually add gelatin powder until incorporated.

On a parchment lined baking sheet, drop mixture by tablespoonfuls or use your piping bag fitted with a decorative tip to pipe meringue mixture into shapes as desired. Bake for 1 hour, then turn off heat. Without opening the oven door, leave them in the oven for another hour to further dry.

Once dried, these cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to a month.

I made these cookies using five flavors of gelatin. Pineapple was the family favorite, but each flavor was enjoyable.

Unfortunately, adding the gelatin means they’re not Kosher for Passover. Of course, you can omit the gelatin, double the sugar, add a teaspoon of vanilla and a few drops of food coloring. Et Voila!

Perfect for Easter, bridal or baby showers, these cookies are a showstopper. You can add sprinkles, top with colored sugar or dip the bottoms in melted chocolate. You can combine different colored batters in the piping bag for multicolor swirl effects. At a cost of under $2 a batch, these spectacular cookies are certainly frugal and fabulous! ***

Preheat oven to 225 F. Carefully separate egg yolks from the whites, taking care that absolutely no yolks get in the whites. Reserve yolks for another purpose.

In a completely clean and dry mixing bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar on high speed. When whites

HOLLYWOOD — Bill Skarsgard was third-billed for “John Wick,” probably because of his visibility as Pennywise in “It” (2017), which catapulted the $40-million film to a $70l.8 million gross. And in 2019, the sequel, “It Chapter Two,” turned a $79 million cost into $473.1 million at the box office.

This year, Skarsgard is working nonstop — first up, he has “Boy Kills World” (about a deaf-mute who escapes after his family is murdered into the jungle where he’s trained by a mysterious mentor). Then, he has the $50-million supernatural superhero film “The Crow,” opposite Danny Huston, as well as the Gothic horror film “Nosferatu,” co-starring LilyRose Depp (Johnny Depp’s daughter), Nicholas Hoult and Willem Dafoe. Not bad for a budding 32-yearold star.

***

Keanu Reeves, now 58, is lighting his wick at both ends. He jumped right from “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which opened last week, into yet another “John Wick” feature — a spin-off called “Ballerina,” co-starring Ana de Armas as a ballerina-assassin, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Anjelica Huston, Bill Skarsgard, Gabriel Byrne and “The Walking Dead’s” Norman Reedus. Shooting began in Prague last November.

***

“The Walking Dead’s” not done with Norman Reedus. He’s headlining the upcoming AMC spin-off “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” which drops later this year. In the interim, he’s starring opposite Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Michael Shannon and Tom Hardy in the upcoming drama film “The Bikeriders.”

Meanwhile, Butler is toplining the AppleTV+ series “Masters of the Air,” in the vein of “Band of Brothers.”

***

Morgan Freeman is still going strong at 85, with over 100 films under his belt. Among them are such classics as “Street Smart” (1987), which brought him his first Oscar nom; 1989’s “Driving Miss Daisy,”

which brought him his second Oscar nom; “The Shawshank Redemption” (1994); and 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby,” which earned him his Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor.

Freeman is now starring in “The Ritual Killer,” with Cole Hauser, which arrived March 10. “A Good Person,” with Florence Pugh and Molly Shannon, opened March 24, and he also has the upcoming sci-fi thriller “57 Seconds,” with Josh Hutcherson, as well as the Paramount+ spy series “Lioness,” opposite Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman

Freeman, who played God in 2003’s “Bruce Almighty” and 2007’s “Evan Almighty,” has shared his views on God. “I think we invented God,” he explained. “So, if I believe in God, and I do, it’s because I think I’m God!”

Freeman is a practicing Zoroastrian who has been married and divorced twice. He has fathered four children and divides his time between Charleston, Mississippi, and a home in New York City. He got his pilot’s license at 65 and owns three private planes.

It stands to reason — if you’re a method actor and you’re playing God, you have to believe you are God! Holy moly!

Taking Zinc as Daily Supplement Won’t Change Hair Loss

DEAR DR. ROACH: I am having trouble finding a reliable recommendation for the daily supplement zinc. I purchased 50-mg pills, but I think this may be too much. I am 74 and female, and I would like to include zinc in my daily supplements, as my hair has begun thinning quite a bit straight down the top of my head. — R.M.

ANSWER: Zinc is an important nutrient, and it is certainly true that zinc deficiency may lead to hair loss. However, most people with hair loss do not have a zinc deficiency, and there is no convincing data that giving extra zinc to a person with normal zinc levels will help with hair loss. Hair loss along the midline is consistent with female pattern hair loss, which is very common among women in their 70s and usually has nothing to do with zinc.

Very high amounts of zinc supplementation can be dangerous (and impair your body’s ability to absorb other trace metals such as copper), but 50 mg is a safe amount. Still, the most effective therapies for female pattern hair loss include minoxidil (usually topical, but low-dose oral is increasingly used), spironolactone and finasteride. A dermatologist is the expert on hair loss and can give you a better diagnosis by exam than I can by your description.

DEAR DR. ROACH: My youngest son has to have both of his hips replaced. He is only 37, but is in a very strenuous job of being a boilermaker in an oil refinery. This is the hardest job in a heavy industry. His doctors are telling me that

his hips deteriorated due to alcohol consumption — is this even possible? Even if he can get through this ordeal, he is still locked into this physical type of work.

The doctors say he will need another hip replacement in 10 to 15 years if he stays in this line of work. Do you agree with these statements? — B.M.

ANSWER: Let’s take them one by one.

The most common cause of hip disease requiring hip replacement is osteoarthritis of the hips, but it is quite unusual to see someone of your son’s age require a hip replacement. Alcohol is not a recognized risk factor for osteoarthritis of the hips, but it is a known underlying cause of a much less-common condition: osteonecrosis of the hips, also called avascular necrosis.

The more a person drinks, the more likely they are to get this rare condition, even though most heavy drinkers will never get this condition. Not every person with osteonecrosis of the hip will require a hip replacement. It is frequent to have both sides of the hip affected with disease.

Untreated congenital hip dysplasia may also lead to severe hip damage requiring a total hip replacement, and it is also one cause I see in a person of your son’s age.

Prognosis after a modern hip replacement is very good. More than 90% of people are doing well, pain-free and without complications 15 years after surgery takes place. Of course, some kinds of activities such as heavy lifting and high-impact movements could make the surgical prosthetics wear out faster, but regular activities such as walking, stair climbing and most sports that are not high-intensity or high-impact can be done without damage to the prosthetic.

Although further alcohol use will not affect the prosthetic hips or other bones, many other body systems are very much affected by alcohol. So, if he has been a heavy drinker for some time, it is now time to stop. His doctors can help him find many available resources.

Dr. Roach regrets that he is unable to answer individual questions, but will incorporate them in the column whenever possible. Readers may email questions to ToYourGoodHealth@ med.cornell.edu.
