Special Meeting Notice

The Special Meeting will be held on August 8, 2023 at the Coventry Senior Center, 50 Wood Street, Coventry, RI 02816-5841 at 6:00 PM

The purpose of the meeting is to present proposed updates to the District By-Laws to taxpayers and hold a taxpayer vote for approval. Said proposed updates include:

1.Ministerial edits throughout, consisting of: fixing typos, the capitalization of the terms Fire District and Board of Directors, updating the definition of quorum to 25 voters in accordance with the Charter, and the replacement of District Manager with District Treasurer;

2.Removal of levy cap and all-day referendum asdescribed in Article II, Section 1.B;

3.Removal of Article II, Section 1.F and subsequent renumbering;

4.Addition of Article II, Section 1.I allowing for any board member to submit agenda items for meetings;

5.Addition of Article II, Section 1.J allowing for a majority of the Board to request an election of Board officers and scheduling of vote;

6.Removal of language otherwise delegating the Fire Chief's administrative duties as described in Article III, Section 1.
