Pradhan, former Central Minister and Former Chairman of the Society Late Barrister Vitthalraoji Gadgil, well known industrialist Mr. Arun Firodiya, educationist Mr. P.R. Dubhashi, Secretary to Indian Govt. Finance Ministry Dr. Vijay Kelkar. The present Chairman of the Business Council Dr. G.R. Ekbote and many more. The well known, senior Gandhian Hon. Shri Balasaheb Bharade is the present President of Progressive Education Society. Nearly 30 students of this Society were awarded Shiv Chatrapati Awards by State Government for their contribution in the field of sports. Many students have contributed to the research in various fields of Science, Engineering. Every year nearly 20 to 25 students appear in the merit list of S.S.C. Board, H.S.C. Board and University Examinations. Our present and past students add to the reputation of the Society through their invaluable contribution to various fields in which they are active. The Society is responsible for an all sided development of the student through it advanced education. Progressive Education Society is a pioneering, reputed, distinguished educational institution in Maharashtra. The two remarkable words that appear in the names of the Society and its educational institutions are ‘Progressive’ and ‘Modern’. The inclusion of these words was certainly with some noble intention, which is a bright beacon for the Society to follow with determination. The pace of the Society’s progress was, obviously, slightly slower in the initial years. The Society started Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary schools in the beginning. In 1986, Honourable Dr. Gajanan Ramakant Ekbote, an eminent surgeon and also a past student of Modern High School, stepped in to the Society as a member of the Business Council and the pace of its progress increased considerably.. Dr. G.R. Ekbote, who first became a member of the Business Council, later became the Joint Secretary and for the last 10 years has been leading the Society as the Chairman of the Business Council. The Society has witnessed a very ideal quantitative,

as well as qualitative growth under the able leadership of Dr. G.R. Ekbote and with the collective efforts of his colleagues. Today, the Society manages in all 46 educational institutions in and around Pune City. These various institutions at different levels in different faculties include Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, Higher Secondary schools, under graduate and post graduate colleges in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Computer Science, Pharmaceuticals, Special Education ( H.I), Biotechnology, Microbiology and institutions for professional courses in Information technology, Engineering, Electronics and research institutions imparting education to the teachers teaching hearing-impaired students etc. These institutions are imparting education to more than 40,000 students. All these institutions are staffed with highly qualified, experienced and devoted teachers. These institutions are known for their academic excellence.
