Lavender French beaded flowers tutorial by Sarah Millsop Materials and tools Wire 0.32mm Size 11 seed beads - Green - Purple Floristry tape Chain nose pliers Flush cutters Bead spinner (optional) Before you begin‌ These Lavender stalks are quick and easy to create. Simply use them in a vase as an everlasting display, create beaded wreaths to decorate your home or a wonderful gift that will last for years. This project is a perfect starting place and introduction to French Beading Techniques. If you have a seed bead spinner you can save even more time threading beads onto your wire.

Step 1- Flower head String 50cm of beads onto the spool wire. Count 8 beads and twist into a loop 20 cm from the end of the wire. Twist no more than twice. Step 2 Slide 8 beads up to the first loop. Form them into a loop, positioned as close as possible to the first loop. To secure, twist the two wires together immediately below this second loop a couple of times. By twisting the two wires together you ensure that the loops remain one above the other rather than along string of loops. Add a third loop of eight beads. Step 3 Repeat step 2 seven more times. Try to stack the loops regularly around the forming flower to create an even shape. Now increase the bead count to 10 per loop. Repeat 5 times.

Step 5 Add two more loops on opposite sides of the flower, each made with 12 beads. Step 6 Finally, add 3 10-bead loops evenly around the base of the flower. Cut the spool wire the same length as the remaining tail and smoothly but tightly twist together. If desired add additional lengths of wire to stiffen the stem. Step 7 – Leaf and assembly You can make simple leaves by creating extra long loops just as you did in step 1. Use around 30 beads per loop. Pinch the sides of the loop together to form a long leaf then twist slightly. Twist the finished stem and neatly wrap with floral tape. Attach floral tape to the flower stem immediately below the flower. As you wind down the stem introduce the leaves.

Preciosa Pastel Flower Bracelet by Laura Bajor

Materials list Click on the products to add them to your basket

- Preciosa twin hole beads in crystal shell cream - Preciosa twin hole beads in chalk natural - Preciosa twin hole beads in light dove grey - Toho size 6 seed beads in silver lined milky amethyst - Toho size 8 seed beads in silver lined frosted rosaline - Rose gold plated zamak toggle clasp leaf design - Light coloured beading thread - Beading needle This pretty project uses your choice of Preciosa twin hole beads to make delicate seed bead flowers. There are so many ways to use your finished flowers as they are really small and have lots of points to attach other materials and findings to! Why not thread one or two onto an earring base or place one at the centre of a Spring necklace? Mix and match your seed bead tones to make each flower unique or create a uniform design for a really professional look! Click here to see our full range of twin hole seed beads and personalise your design

Step 1 Take a length of thread measuring approx. 20-30". String 10 of your twin hole beads onto the needle and move them to the end of the thread. Tie them into a ring with a secure knot.

1

Step 2 String 1 size 6 seed bead, pass the needle and thread through the lower hole of the twin hole bead on the opposite side of the ring. Come out of the ring through the same twin beads top hole.

2

Step 3 Thread through this twin hole bead to its other side. Continue to add a size 8 seed bead inbetween each of the twin holes. Pull the thread between the seed beads and finish with a knot which is then hidden in the seed bead hole. Next, create nine more flowers in this way. The basic length of the bracelet without the fastening is 17cm, so you may wish to add or remove a flower from your design to fit your wrist.

3

4

Step 4 Take a long length of thread measuring at least 1 arms width. Add 2 seed beads on either end of the flowers when you are joining them together. Exit the single seed bead at one end of your flower, add a seed bead and thread through the single seed bead on another flower, add a second seed bead and secure this to the first flower. Secure the two flowers properly together so they won't break apart.

5

Step 5 Tighten the bracelet by once more passing the line through all of the outer seed beads. At each end of the bracelet, add a loop of 3 size 8 seed beads, one half of your toggle clasp and 3 more seed beads. Continue to thread back in and secure the bracelet.

6

Once you are happy with your bracelet, knot and secure your thread somewhere in your bracelet and thread the tail through some more beads before cutting it. You may wish to add a drop of glue to the knot to secure it further.

WE REMAKE SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE CELEB NECKLACES ZOE SALDANA

This delicate silver and crystal necklace is the perfect accessory to a monochrome or more plain outfit. The addition of some sparkle and movement is ideal for drawing the eye to the crystals around the wearers collar. To create a similarly sparkling design we wire wrapped crystal cup chain onto a delicate silver choker base and then attached our Swarovski beads on with sterling silver jumprings. We've called our BD version of Zoe's necklace, the 'Crystal Rainfall Choker' and you can learn how to make it for yourself! Take a look at our selection of Swarovski clear crystal beads, charms and stones

SAOIRSE RONAN This beautiful layered necklace features 3 contrasting colours of shimmering crystal in graduated sizes. It is the perfect example of the latest Swarovski Innovations theme 'Water' in which we see bright and bold tones reflecting the colours of the life under the sea. We have chosen to create our version of the necklace out of Swarovski crystal faceted rounds and shining Czech glass beads. We threaded each bead onto its own eyepin and linked them into a glamorous beaded chain. You could add even more movement by linking a jumpring inbetween each pin! Click here to see our range of brilliant Swarovski faceted rounds bafta.org beautyeditor.ca nytimes.com

This crystal embellished choker is the perfect accessory for a special occassion such as a wedding or evening event. Why not try swapping some of the crystal montees for some in a different colour. If you prefer gold jewellery, try swapping the cupchain for a gold plated version and swapping your choker base too?

The bright tones in this droplet necklace are really eye-catching and look really bold against the shining silver chain and findings. For a shorter necklace try using all 4mm crystals or taking a few links out to lift the necklace upwards. This design would also look lovely with longer chain to sit it further down the chest. LAST MONTH'S WINNERS March's inspiration competition called for bright and bold colours, soft textures and a floral theme. The rich pink tones in the inspirational image were the perfect starting point for choosing the best BD materials for each handmade design.

Below are our two lucky winners who will each receive a fabulous bead bundle worth over ÂŁ20!

Rebekah Coleman

Vicki Lear This pretty necklace uses a mixture of pearls, lilac seed beads, leaf charm beads and bright lucite flower beads. The delicate strands of seed beads sit seamlessly around the flowers like small branches.

"The image made me think of the pastel softness and fluidity of Spring. With that in mind, I wanted to create something that reflects that 'pop' of colour, but still felt light and fresh. I created a Russian spiral bracelet using 4mm beads and 2 colours of seed beads. I hope you like it."
