Get the look and choose your materials We were inspired by Katalin's amazing design on this month's front page and wanted to share some of the beautiful beads, crystals and cords that went into creating it! There are so many techniques within the designs that make them so striking and perfect for Summer!
Soutache cord is a flat braid with a groove down its centre. The braid is made using two strips of piping with either polyester or rayon wrapped around it. Glue your cabochons or crystals onto a base before you start stitching your Soutache cord around it. Round seed beads are really versatile and can be added into lots of different techniques to add detail and texture. These beautiful semi glazed beads feature a rainbow effect without a lot of sparkle or shine. These are ideal for adding colour and a subtle colour changing effect to your jewellery. Combine your rainbow effect seed beads with these beautiful druzy agate beads. There are 3 different rainbow druzy bead sizes to choose from, so these are perfect for making some smaller matching earrings and a chunkier necklace charm and bracelet!

"Elsa". Inspired by Frozen, this is beaded kumihimo using 3mm Swarovski bicones in light sapphire, sapphire, aquamarine, clear and clear AB. I have randomly strung the bicones and finished with sterling silver end caps and puffed hearts. Summer Daisy Hairband

These gorgeous beaded flowers can be scaled up or down and added to any of your hair accessories: clips, combs and hair bands! You will need a little bit of patience to add all of those tiny, colourful bugle beads, but it will be worth it once it's done!
Materials list Click on the products to add them to your basket
- Silver plated copper wire 0.9mm - Assorted colour copper wire 0.4mm - Silver hair band or hair combs - Multi colour seed bead mix
1. To create the flower frame, work directly from a spool of 0.9mm wire and initially make a small link at the end of the wire using your round nose pliers. Following which, create 7 up and down zig-zags of about 1" (2.5cm) in height, keeping them as regular as possible. 2. Cut the wire from the spool. Bring the zig-zags around into a circle and secure together by threading the cut end into the link. 3. Using your chain nose pliers, form the zigzags into petal shaped by squeezing the tips into a point and opening up the centres. 4. Once you're happy with the overall shape of the petals, place the frame onto a steel block and gently hammer the outer part of the petals. 5. Cut about 8" (20cm) of 0.4mm wire and use this to bind around the centre of the frame.
6. Cut another 8" (20cm) of 0.4mm wire and begin using this to thread the small bugle beads, wire wrapping them inbetween each of the petals, filling the spaces. 7. Continue cutting more 0.4mm wire as required until you have filled all 7 petal frames. 8. Working from a spool of 0.9mm wire, create a tight spiral (that is large enough to cover the centre of the flower). Cut from the spool leaving a straight projecting tail of about 5" (12.5cm). 9. Thread the projecting end of the spiral through the middle of the flower, pulling it tight, so that the spiral sits at the centre of the beaded flower frame. Use any 0.4mm wire projecting at the back of the flower to secure around it. Cut off any other stray wires and neaten the edges.
