MELÉ IS IN THE HOUSE Written and Interviewed by Catherine Strickland Photography by Sam Neill In 2015 Melé had a watershed moment — a breakthrough track titled "Ambience" that industry media and leading publications named as "one to watch in 2016." Today, Melé is reaping the rewards of dedicating years to perfecting his production skills and sound. And speaking of his sound, Melé is high on Brazilian percussion beats and rhythms, mixing hip-hop and classic house ingredients resulting in euphoric high-octane dance music. In just a short couple of years, he has earned all kinds of support from the industry’s most influential tastemakers and radio personalities including Annie Mac and Pete Tong to fellow producers and DJs Tiga, Jackmaster, Patrick Topping and Eats Everything. On Friday, August 31, Melé and Defected Records will drop a 2 CD set "Defected Presents Melé In The House." Compiled and recorded in a live setting, the project represents a giant step forward for the young producer to showcase his mixing talents, techniques and musical tastes as heard on 35 choice cuts. In this Q&A, Melé shares what life has been like (post "Ambience"), his burgeoning live event series- Club Bad, the future, and of course, the new compilation.
