Your Bedfringe experience starts here with this brochure presenting you with more than 70 performances over 16 days from six venues within the town. What is a Fringe Festival? I like to define it as a platform for new and exciting work covering all genres of the James Pharaoh performing arts including theatre, comedy, dance, – Chief Executive poetry and live music. All our acts are handpicked by our programming team to give you one of the strongest fringe programmes in the country. Take a risk and see something you would never see... that’s what it’s all about. Catch one or two of our world premier shows and be the first person to see the next big name in comedy! Come and support national and international artists from as far as Philadelphia USA to our very own homegrown talent. With more than twice as many performances in two weeks than our Corn Exchange hosts in four months, you really are spoilt for choice! The stage is set...
Well here we are in our 6th year and this is the biggest and most ambitious to date. I would like to thank all the staff for volunteering their time, our sponsors, plus everyone else who has helped us along the way to make Bedfringe a fantastic festival – without all this goodwill we would simply not be able to operate. We also welcome all acts to this year’s festival, some of whom are performing at Bedfringe for the first time and some who are back for their 5th! This year’s we have an eclectic mix of national, international and local acts covering theatre, music, comedy, dance and film. We have performances aimed at adults, children and everyone in between – so there is something for everyone at Bedfringe. Happy Bedfringing! Richard Mann – Director

2.30pm 60mins Unburdened by fame, high expectations or a crowded schedule, internationally unknown storyteller, Mark Steinhardt, is free to bring his modest accomplishments to Bedfringe for a second year. This time he’s telling the story of our (nearly) local hero, Hereward, guerrilla leader of the last resistance to william the Conqueror. His story flits between history and legend, between glory and farce. Mark always sets out to amuse and entertain, but he has studied the original sources to construct this plausible telling. It’s free, it’s only an hour. Come and find out why Bedfringe has invited him back .
