The picturesque market town of Ampthill is steeped in history and surrounded by beautiful countryside with lots of lovely local walks. It is also jam packed with restaurants, pubs and cafes making it the perfect place for foodies too.

The Fratelli restaurants are Bedfordshire institutions, with spots in both Ampthill and Woburn. Tucked away above the Ampthill restaurant is their e ortlessly stylish sister restaurant, Fratelli Cicchetti. The restaurant o ers elegant, modern Italian food in a beautiful dining space. It is the perfect spot for a date night, plus on Thursdays you can indulge in 2 for 1 cocktails. Weekends include a fabulous bottomless brunch and a family friendly Sunday roast, reservations are most certainly recommended for this popular spot.

On my most recent visit, we started with the delicious Fritto Misto, a combination of fried calamari, prawns and courgettes in a light batter. The main courses were the real show stoppers, we tried the Mafaldine Cicchetti, handmade long ribbon pasta with chicken in a luxurious creamy tru e sauce. The Rigatoni Salsiccia in a rich and spicy creamy tomato sauce with Sicilian sausage was just divine.
