Since outsmarting the professionals and being aptly named by his parents, he has continually pushed past his perceived limits with accomplishments that include pitching for his high school baseball team (Chatham, NJ), throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before a New York Yankees’ game, and spending 5 years at the University of South Carolina, where he served as both a manager and student coach on the baseball team.

In 2015, Fox published a book of poetry entitled Letter Kindling; Igniting, Inspiring, and Evoking The Fire Within.

Today, he continues to inspire others as a high school Spanish teacher (Whippany, NJ), baseball coach (Somerset Patriots) and speaker. Speaking at Tedx Hickory 2017, Fox gave candid accounts of what life has been like growing up, living, and working with Cerebral Palsy.

Elevated Toilet Seats Early in the 1970’s Maddak was approached by an inventor with a new idea for an elevated toilet seat that could help those with mobility issues more easily attend to personal needs. Shaped like a donut, it was about 4” (10.2 cm) high, lightweight and could be securely anchored to the toilet. Maddak took on the project and became the first company in the world to manufacture an elevated toilet seat.

Today, our Tall-Ette(r) product line (see pages 11-13) of raised toilet seats continues to be a top-selling staple even as SP Ableware - Maddak’s bath safety line has evolved and expanded. Product offerings now include specialty toilet seats designed for individuals recovering from leg, hip, knee surgery, wheelchair users, bariatrics, etc. as well as our ever popular raised seats that can be used for short-term, medium-term or long-term use, depending on the individual’s needs. They will last indefinitely* under normal use and are covered by an unconditional warranty against defects in material, parts and labor for a period of 12 months from date of purchase. Most models are supplied in a cardboard carrying case. *Tests performed by SGS U.S. Testing Co., Inc. on three different seats, selected at random, showed that the Tall-Ette ® Elevated Toilet Seats did not crack or deform after 10,000 cycles of dropping a “free-fall” 16” (41 cm) diameter 300 lb. (136 kg) bag from a height of 2” (5.1 cm) onto the top surface of the sample.

The cycling rate was 10 cycles per minute. Another test performed showed maximum static load capacity of the samples to be over 3900 lb. (1769 kg).

Each sub-test has an option of a structured 5-step mediation. The goals of the assessment are to identify the strengths and deficits of the child in the different cognitive areas and measure learning potential, as well as to recognize the child’s thinking strategies utilizing dynamic procedures.

The CPT - Cognitive Performance Test is a standardized occupational therapy assessment of functional cognition.

Therapists examine cognitive integration with functioning in an IADL-environmental context and rate executive processing across seven subtasks for an average score. The CPT is used to explain and predict capacity to function in various contexts and guide intervention plans, it measures and tracks the severity of a cognitive-functional disability by means of baseline and serial assessment.

The CPT Revised Manual 2018 uses an updated construct and language consistent with advances in cognitive neuroscience and what is known about neurocognitive disorders (NCDs) and the memory systems of mild and major NCDs. Sensory Stimulation Activities Kit

A two-part, behaviorally-anchored assessment designed to assess how a client may function in task-oriented and social interactional settings.

n A sensory and cognitive therapy tool for the caregiver n Includes age-appropriate functional materials for a variety of different populations Comprehensive kit provides a sensory stimulation and basic cognitive rehabilitation program. Manual contains over 90 sensory activities including auditory, visual, olfactory, gustatory and tactile stimuli. The responses to these activities may be used by the clinician as a foundation for cognitive gains that can be made by implementing the cognitive activities that are also documented in the manual.

The Task Oriented Assessment (TOA) utilizes five tasks in which twelve functional parameters in cognitive, performance and affective areas are rated. Observations about specific c­ ognitive and neuropsychological functioning are made during each task.

The Social Interaction Scale (SIS) measures the level of social competency through assessment of seven areas of social functioning via observation in five different social ­situations.

These situations are observed in activities that are generally part of any therapeutic milieu program. has been used in inpatient and outpatient settings The to evaluate the functional performance of p ­ sychiatric, brain injured, geriatric and developmentally d ­ isabled adults as well as adolescents in treatment or ­special education ­settings. It can be used for treatment, discharge planning, documentation and outcome studies. The manual includes r­ eliability and validity s­ tudies as well as a b ­ ibliography of over 30 publications or research studies, addressing the c­ ontinued validation of the BaFPE™ with various populations. The kit includes a loose leaf binder containing a manual of background information, directions for ­administering the TOA and the SIS, administration forms, r­ ating guides and worksheets. Also includes a set of sea shells, set of design blocks and associated items.
