COVER STAR LOOK FOR LESS BY MINDY GURA + PAULA ORLAN
Spring has certainly sprung, but a trend that we love no matter what season we are in, is high shine metallics. And while we usually associate glossy metallics with evening wear and night time events, this year the fad has popped up in daytime attire as well. When we were asked to style the fabulous makeup guru, Laura Gellar, we immediately had this lustrous vibe in mind. With her flawless makeup, magnetic personality, and beautiful smile, Laura’s own sparkle matched the sheen and shine of this Clara Sun Woo jacket and layered gold chains for her cover look. Check out our look for less options so that you too can try this trend in a budget-friendly way! 44 15

QUEER OWNED BEAUTY BRANDS TO KNOW
By Jonathan Calixto
From skincare to makeup and everything in between, the beauty industry continues to grow each year. Not just in revenue but also in reach. As seen in Elf Cosmetic’s 2024 Super Bowl Commercial that included RuPaul’s Drag Race star, Heidi N Closet, the LGBTQ+ community is more visible than ever in the beauty scene. One thing is for certain, the Queer community has also been behind the scenes as brand founders. Here are some of the brands and founders redefining beauty standards. 47
ONE/SIZE Founded in 2020 during the height of the pandemic by Youtube beauty guru, Patrick Starrr, the brand has redefined all boundaries of beauty. As One/Size says on their website, “this is for all the curvy women, skinny boys, drag queens, thick guys, girly girls, beauties with disabilities, gender nonconforming icons, runway models, and makeup lovers.” Since its launch, the brand has worked on collaborations with WICKED The Musical, among others and released some of the most sought after products like the Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray, that went viral on TikTok last year. OneSizeBeauty.com ABOUT-FACE Stepping into the makeup industry to break the rules, About-Face launched in 2021 with singer Halsey as its Founder, Chief Creative Officer, and Head Makeup Artist. One thing about the singer is her fearlessness in music, and that same charisma is embedded in the brand's DNA. From its creatively edgy campaigns and showcase of a multi-use brand. As they share, their products are “for every one, for every where, for every way.” Some of the standout products since its inception include the matte fluid eye paint, cheek freak blush balm, and paint-it matte lip color. AboutFace.com NOTO BOTANICS Gloria Noto is known for her work behind the scenes as a makeup artist since 2006, and in 2016 she stepped into the role of CEO to launch NOTO Botanics. As part of the LGBTQ+ community, it was important for Gloria to create an allnatural line of edited essentials considering every body. As Gloria shares about founding her own line, “I became excited to use all the skills I learned over the years to create a line that celebrated the spectrum of authentic identities.” Since its inception some of the notable skincare products include the Body + Hair Rooted Oil, and the multi-use makeup sticks. NIKKI HASKEL Bi-Costal Beverly Hills, California, + Manhattan, New York The Nikki Haskell Show, StarCaps StarCruncher NikkiBars StarSuckers NikkiHaskell.com
The trick is not to think about what you’re doing—don’t overthink things. You can always find a reason not to do something. I like to be fashionable and current and do things that make sense, and if someone doesn’t like it, that's too bad. What do I care what they have to say? I don’t feel like I must conform to what everybody else thinks. The only important thing is that you are happy and that you live your life to please yourself. Don’t live your life to please other people because they don’t appreciate it at all. Who gives a S#&* what they have to say?
MY BUSINESS. I’m young at heart. I was always fearless. I had several companies, I worked as one of the first female stockbrokers on Wall Street. Once I left after the years, I started the Nikki Haskell Show, which let me to roles as a film producer, artist, and inventor. I invented StarCaps, StarCruncher, NikkiBars, and StarSuckers, and I was a great party hostess. Most recently, I reemerged as a social media star, known as a “Grandfluencer,” I’m an OG influencer which is fun! I make positive videos where I share words of wisdom, stories of my travels, and advice about knowing your worth. I’ve been fearless from a young age, and that’s been the key to me evolving and having success with my career. MOST REWARDING. Being me has helped pave the way for another generation of women. I wasn’t intentionally paving the way, but in effect, that’s what it was because I did things nobody else did. I’ve done a lot of innovative things, you know. I was a broker. I did my cable show. Then, I invented StarCaps and ran that business for 20 years. I had billboards all over Sunset Boulevard in LA. I created the concept of the Hollywood Boulevard sign. You must understand, I was just going to grow up, get married, and live happily ever after. As you’re doing something, you don’t fully understand the full impact of what you’re doing. You must make every moment count and do whatever you want. SECRET TO MY SUCCESS. I always have a good attitude. I get up every morning and I thank God I’m alive and that I’m here and everything’s functioning, so I’m thrilled to be here. You must be thankful for the fact that you’re here. Forget about money, clothes, jewelry, and everything. I find it very rewarding that because of the limitless company that is doing my media, they’ve allowed me the luxury of really expressing who I am. Once again, I’m given the opportunity of being out there hopefully, to give somebody some positive input. Everything is so negative…the bullying, all these things going on in the world. I couldn’t even imagine growing up now.

KARISSA BODNAR Los Angeles, CA Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare Founder + CEO ThriveCausemetics.com MY BUSINESS. I’m the Founder and CEO of Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare, a high-performance makeup and skincare company with a mission to change the world through the power of beauty. From the beginning, every Thrive Causemetics or Bigger Than Beauty Skincare purchase results in a donation. Thanks to our community, we now donate to eight causes: cancer, domestic abuse, veterans + their families, under-resourced youth, racial and social justice, education, and LGBTQ+ communities. Our products are formulated from scratch and are vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated without parabens and sulfates. Since 2015, Thrive Causemetics has donated over $135 million in funds and products to over 500 Giving Partners. MOST REWARDING. am most proud of our community at Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare. We wouldn’t be here without them, and everything we do is to support them in return. We are constantly engaging with our online and social communities, whether it’s helping us discover new nonprofits (Giving Partners) to support, getting honest feedback on a product in development, asking for recommendations for inspiring women we can use as Namesakes for new products, or as simple as what kinds of products they would like to see us make, we always go to our community first. SECRET TO MY SUCCESS. Any success you see in me reflects an incredible team of individuals who work at Thrive Causemetics and Bigger Than Beauty Skincare, as well as a community of millions of customers who show up for us every single day, plus our Giving Partners that power our purpose. Those people, plus my heroes like Madam C.J. Walker, Estee Lauder, Leslie Blodgett, and Carol Hamilton who paved the way for me, are why I can do what I do today. My favorite quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived is to have succeeded.” As a businessperson and in life, it’s really easy to tie our “success” to numbers. Truthfully, I wouldn't have made it if I had only focused on that in the beginning, after having virtually no revenue for the first three years. What drove me then still fuels me: our cause and community. You don't have to go to Harvard to be able to build a large company or to do anything in life.

PIPER HARLOW South Plainfield, NJ The Piper Harlow Show, News12+ Sundays at 11 am, and Harlow Publicity Talk Show Host, Executive Producer, and Founder of PR Boutique Piperharlow.com, ThePiperHarlowShow.com MY BUSINESS. My business helps people and companies brand their fearless, authentic selves. Many people find that they feel a certain way on the inside that they are afraid to express on the outside. My talk show centers on entrepreneurs and entertainers. I wanted to create a space for people to show their brands in the media who might otherwise have a hard time getting exposure. Of course, we also have celebrities and other fun entertainment, including ballet dancers that are highlighted almost every week. When I was conceptualizing the show, I was adamant that I didn’t want it to be another boring talk show. I wanted it to be fun and lively and let artists and entrepreneurs thrive. MOST REWARDING. I think the most rewarding aspect of what I do is when people tell me how happy they are, especially during my show. As a publicist, it’s very hard to place people in the media who have never done an interview before so it’s my goal to help those who may be starting to feel comfortable in front of the camera and have the most fun experience, they can promote themselves or their brand. SECRET TO MY SUCCESS. The secret to my success is being fearless. That’s the one word I have tattooed on my wrist where I can always see it. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have fear in my life, but it means that I need to push past that fear and fight for what I want to do in my life and with my life because nobody is going to do it for you.

HOW HOLLYWOOD EFFECTS BODY IMAGE + THE DEVELOPMENT OF EATING DISORDERS
Idolization of Hollywood performers and their characters has gone on for over 100 years. Glamour and beauty standards are portrayed in a golden light, something to emulate, to be seen as sexy, desirable, and successful. For most of those 100 years being white and slim was put forward as the pinnacle of beauty. Women had tiny waists and slender bodies the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Audrey Hepburn. Men were lean and fit, Paul Newman, Rock Hudson, and James Dean. Although make-up, hair, and wardrobe changed, body type remained basically the same.
BEAUTY STANDARDS + BODY IMAGE
By Geraldine Viggiani
Over time social pressures have changed this ideal to include people of different ethnic backgrounds and body types. Still dominant the blonde, blue eyed, thin icon has needed to move slightly over to allow for other ethnicities who may have more curvy body types. Men’s bodies have changed to an overly muscled stature and now back again to slim, but fit. That said, thin remains the perfect ideal. Something that is often forgotten is that perception doesn’t match reality. That these movie and television stars are paid to stand up to this sometimes impossible ideal. They work out for many hours a day, have professional chefs and the money to access skin care, health and beauty products and even plastic surgery. Even more disturbing is that artificial intelligence and filters now can alter a person’s appearance by de-aging them, making them thinner, taller and with less wrinkles and imperfections. Social media has exasperated this ideal of perfect. Viewers and scrollers have become inundated and barraged with these ideals. For the person with a fragile mindset and self esteem these impossible standards can lead to anxiety, depression and even suicide as people struggle to live up to these expectations. An even darker side to the exaltation of the Hollywood icons has been an epidemic of eating disorders.
70
Eating disorders have been around for a very long time. They include diagnoses of: Anorexia Nervosa. An unhealthy low body weight, intense fear of gaining weight, and a view of weight and shape that is not realistic. Anorexia often involves using extreme efforts to control weight and shape, for example intense dieting and exercise. This disorder can be life threatening. Bulimia Nervosa. A serious, sometimes life-threatening eating disorder. Bulimia includes episodes of bingeing, commonly followed by episodes of purging. It also includes restrictive dieting. Purging consists of vomiting up food that has been consumed during a binge but can also involve laxatives and enemas. Binge Eating Disorder. Binge-involves eating a lot of food in a short amount of time. The binge is not followed by purging. After a binge, people often feel a great deal of guilt, disgust, or shame. They may fear gaining weight. They may try to severely limit eating for periods of time. This leads to increased urges to binge, setting up an unhealthy cycle. There are many other types of eating disorders as well as Body Dysmorphic Disorder, BDD In this disorder the person can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in their appearance — a flaw that appears minor or can't be seen by others. This leads to intense embarrassment, shame and anxious leading the person to avoid social situations. Eating disorders and BDD have many different origins for those suffering. There is a strong genetic link, meaning that these disorders run in families. Along with genetics scientists have found that those with these disorders have other biological differences. That said people don’t just grow out of an eating disorder. So, people come into the world with a propensity to develop an eating disorder and then their environment can trigger the start of it. In her podcast for The American Psychological Association “Speaking of Psychology: The ‘silent epidemic’ of eating disorders, Cheri Levinson, PhD talks about two main triggers apart from biology that can spur an eating disorder. The first is a period of eating restriction. That can be starting a restrictive diet such as weight watchers or Atkins etc. That period of restriction could also be due to an illness. The second trigger is critical commentary on someone’s weight or shape. This can come from bullying, parental criticism and even from a medical provider. These negative comments and criticism create deep shame and embarrassment. The person then wants to avoid these feelings and proceeds to problem solve with the development of an eating disorder. The thing is though that this commentary doesn’t necessarily have to be directed at them. This criticism can be internalized by watching the shaming of another person’s weight, body, and shape. There is a feeling of what’s wrong with me if this “famous” person defines what beautiful is and I don’t fit into that mold.
Geraldine Viggiani LCSW, LCADC, PMH-C
Although social media and Hollywood definitions of beauty are not meant to cause an eating disorder the messages portrayed either consciously or unconsciously can lead those who are vulnerable to develop an eating disorder. Many eating disorders develop in children between 9-15 years old. Because these are children with developing brains these ideals can have an extra impact. Eating disorders do not discriminate against race, religion, sex, and sexual orientation. They can develop at any age, and it is a lifelong journey with periods of recovery and relapse for some. So, what can we do. As parents we can avoid dieting in front of our children, monitor your child’s social media and talk to them about what is being portrayed and how they can stay healthy and lastly encourage a positive body image, focusing on what are bodies can do instead of how to change it. As adults avoiding restriction and eating a healthy array of foods that are eaten mindfully can help. Keeping a realistic expectation of your body and distracting from self-criticism and making comparisons. Limit social media if possible. Professional treatment is advised for both children and adults. The earlier the better.

BEAUTY BOOSTERS: SUPERCHARGED DETOXING FOODS FOR RADIANT SKIN AND HAIR
SUPERFOOD BEAUTY DETOX
By Lori-Ann Marchese
In our quest for beauty, the secret lies not only in expensive creams and treatments, but also in the vibrant array of detoxing foods that nature offers. These nutrient-packed powerhouses not only cleanse our bodies from within, but also nourish our skin, hair, and nails, leaving us glowing with vitality. 72
Let's explore some of the top detoxing foods that can work wonders for your beauty regime:
2. Leafy Greens: Spinach, kale, Swiss chard, and other leafy greens are nutritional powerhouses that support detoxification and promote clear, radiant skin. Rich in chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals, these greens help flush out toxins, reduce inflammation, and boost collagen production, leading to a more vibrant complexion. 3. Avocado: Creamy, delicious, and loaded with essential fatty acids, avocados are a beauty superfood beloved by skincare enthusiasts. Their healthy fats nourish and hydrate the skin from within, while vitamins E and C help protect against sun damage and promote skin elasticity. 4. Turmeric: This golden spice has been prized for centuries for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, helps soothe inflamed skin, reduce redness, and improve overall skin tone, making it a valuable addition to any beauty routine.

1. Berries: Bursting with antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, berries such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are potent allies in the fight against aging. Their high antioxidant content helps neutralize free radicals, preventing oxidative damage to skin cells and promoting a youthful complexion.

5. Green Tea: Sip your way to beauty with green tea, a rich source of catechins and polyphenols that help detoxify the body and promote radiant skin. Green tea's anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties can help reduce acne and calm irritated skin, while its caffeine content provides a natural energy boost. 6. Chia Seeds: These tiny seeds pack a nutritional punch, offering a wealth of omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidants. Chia seeds help promote healthy digestion, balance blood sugar levels, and nourish the skin from within, leading to a clear, glowing complexion. 7. Pomegranate: Known as the "jewel of autumn," pomegranate is prized for its rich antioxidant content, including punicalagins and anthocyanins. These compounds help protect the skin from UV damage, stimulate collagen production, and improve skin texture, leaving you with a luminous, youthful glow. 8. Coconut: Whether enjoyed as oil, milk, or water, coconut is a versatile beauty booster that hydrates, nourishes, and protects the skin and hair. Its medium-chain fatty acids penetrate deep into the skin, providing long-lasting moisture and promoting a smooth, supple complexion.
Incorporating these detoxing food items into your daily diet can work wonders in maintaining beauty from the inside out. Whether enjoyed in smoothies, salads, or as snacks, these nutrient-rich foods will leave you glowing with health and vitality. So, why wait? JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF LUXURY GETAWAYS, EXOTIC DESTINATIONS, AND HIDDEN GEMS WAITING TO BE DISCOVERED.
ARUBA: FUN IN THE SUN
ONE HAPPY ISLAND
By Amanda Mactas
Smiling faces greet you as soon as you step off the plane and into the airport, driving home the fact that Aruba really earns its title as “one happy island.” 75
Many people vacation in Aruba because of its soft white sand beaches and uninterrupted sunshine, but the amazing weather and breathtaking vista aside, the island is home to countless cultural gems waiting to be discovered. DRINK IN THE FLAVOR The charming new Pepe Margo Distillery marks the first-ever craft distillery to open on the island. Housed in the historical former home of its namesake, Catarina Margarita Wever a.k.a. Pepe Margo, the house of spirits produces both rum and gin and offers complimentary tastings and tours. While the distillery is young, don’t conflate its youth with inexperience – the unique flavors and offerings here are worth a sip or two, particularly the Tesoro 1499 Spanish-style Rum and the Aruba-Distilled Gin with a hint of hops. HEAT THINGS UP Another newcomer to the island, Lava Aruba Glass Studio beckons both visitors and locals to come catch a glimpse of the masters at work. The Venezuelan-born studio has migrated to Aruba to showcase stunning works of art – and the process of creating it – to a whole new populous. Interested parties can stop by the studio to not only browse the expansive gift shop (and likely leave with a souvenir) but also get a glimpse of glassblowing in action with free daily demonstrations. And when you need to cool off after a walk through the blaze, you can take a seat with a cup of coffee at the studio’s cafe. 76
GO ROGUE One of the best and most exhilarating ways to explore the happy island of Aruba is with a guided tour via UTV. The island’s premier tour company, De Palm Tours, is staffed with enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides who regale you with stories about the island’s past and present and shuttle you to some of the most picturesque spots on the island. Get down and dirty with the company’s off-road UTV adventure, which takes you to sights like the Baby Natural Bridge, Alto Vista Chapel, and Black Stone Beach, and make sure to have your camera handy. UNWIND AND LOOK TO THE SKIES With all the exploring you’re bound to do, it’s important to find the right home base that’s in the center of it all. The Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is a sprawling resort located smack dab in the middle of Palm Beach, arguably one of the most happening spots in Aruba. Take advantage of the docile H2Oasis adults-only pool or get a bit more rambunctious at the Lobby Bar, where you can order up one of the resort’s many specialty cocktails (the Celebrity Aruba Arriba is an island classic, but the Dirty Pickle is equally fun). Take advantage of the resort’s beachfront by going for an ocean swim or renting one of the property’s kayaks or paddleboards. Whatever you decide, aim to book your stay during the full moon so you can experience the hotel’s full moon dinner at Atardi, the resort’s beachfront restaurant. The intimate and one-of-a-kind dinner brings together guests for a fivecourse menu inspired by the moon. Throughout the meal, you will be serenaded by hypnotizing music by Sunny Ray Aruba, while a spiritual guide will walk you through selecting a crystal and setting affirmations and intentions for the new moon cycle. It’s a truly grounding experience. 77
PIG OUT One of the most authentic ways to learn about any culture is through its gastronomy and Aruban culture is infused with flavorful food and versatile restaurants. First up, hit up Linda’s Dutch Pancakes, a breakfast hotspot that, as its name implies, serves up some mouthwatering Dutch pancakes, both sweet and savory. Next on the list, book a reservation at Azar, an open-fire cooking concept with inventive dishes you won’t soon forget. Lastly, cozy up to Mercát, another one of the Aruba Marriott’s dining destinations which specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. Here you can overlook the water and enjoy family-style plates without the need to leave the property. After all, vacation is meant to be seamless and there’s nothing better than walking back to your room with a nice full belly. PRO TIP Hit up Gelato & Co. at the Aruba Marriott for authentic Italian gelato and make sure to grab a local Balashi beer during your stay – when in Aruba, drink like the locals do! 78
JACLYN STAPP By Jennifer MacLellan Photography by Fadil Berisha + Austin Ryde
THE BEAUTY OF PAGEANTRY 79
FROM MULTI-HYPHENATE PAGEANT TITLE WINNER TO DIRECTOR AND FRANCHISE HOLDER, JACLYN STAPP EMBODIES THE BEAUTY OF A TRUE QUEEN
Jaclyn Stapp is an American beauty with Middle Eastern roots born in New York, with an upbringing in Florida. Stapp is first generation Jordanian, raised by a widowed mother. She credits her strength and kindness from the matriarch of the family, as she watched her single-handedly raise five children, after the tragic loss of their father. The lessons of her faith, understanding the structure of a cohesive family and perseverance is what lead her on a philanthropic path. Understanding the importance of mental health from an early childhood, she founded Children Are Magical Foundation (CHARM) a nonprofit children's advocacy program organization supporting families and children in need. As CEO, she was awarded by NAMI NYC the “Catalyst for Change Award” in her goal to help changing the world. She has assisted thousands of families in keeping their children in school, supplying them with food, providing refuge and contributing multiple other resources via CHARM. In continuation of her service to mental health, she proudly adds yoga master to her CV. During her quest of saving the world, Jaclyn supported her humanitarianism efforts by modeling and hosting. Her credits include Nashville Insider, CMA Awards, Charlie Daniels Journey Home Project, FOX News Contributor, featured on the Travel Channel, Miss USA Fear Factor, Sex and the City, Fitness Magazine, Boca Life Magazine, People Magazine and US Weekly, to name a few. In addition to her many accomplishments, Stapp received a Mom's Choice Award for her family friendly authored book, Wacky Jacky: The True Story of an Unlikely Beauty Queen and considered a children's literacy classic.
80
As a personal mission for self-empowerment and broadening her platform; Stapp entered the world of pageantry with confidence. She proudly represented her native country at Mrs. World 2021, held the coveted tile of Mrs. Florida America 2008 and Miss New York USA 2004. Her most humbling and life-changing memory during her pageant days is being invited by the White House Provisional Coalition to visit the US military in Baghdad at an Iraqi orphanage. While there, she met with brave female members of Iraq’s Governing Council to discuss human rights. During 2004 as Miss New York USA, she had a kismet meeting with Scott Stapp, lead singer of American Music Award winning band Creed. Scott and Jaclyn ceremoniously wed in 2006, have three beautiful children and currently reside in Nashville. Today, as the former pageant title holder of Mrs. World 2021, Mrs. Florida America 2008, and Miss New York USA 2004, Stapp is passing the crown to go behind-the-scenes as the director and franchise holder for Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA, under the Miss USA Organization. Stapp brings her rich entertainment history to the new chapter of the Miss USA Organization lead by Laylah Rose. "I'm excited to bring that expertise back to my home state of Florida, to produce a modern, fresh event, and to forever change the lives of the lucky ladies who walk away with the crown." Jaclyn is committed to elevating beauty beyond the surface by creating a stage where diversity is celebrated. Jaclyn is so grateful for what the pageant industry has done for her and will keep empowering women to be seen, heard, and valued for their unique qualities, aiming to redefine beauty standards with a dedication to unity and acceptance. “We are delighted to have Jaclyn as our newest State Director for Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA. Her impressive background ensures she will make the Florida competition an unforgettable event," says Laylah Rose, CEO, and President of the Miss USA Organization. Her first pageant as director will be held in July with what Stapp hopes to be a historical one, as one of her contestants is 62. Since the new rules include complete inclusivity (no age restrictions, pregnant and married can now compete), Stapp is hoping to usher in a new generation of women. Additional details to follow. A big part of your brand is connecting women and bringing likeminded business owners, influencers, entrepreneurs, and beauty lovers of a certain age together, through curated events. Why is connecting your audience to each other so important to you?
“...THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE DEEPER CONNECTIONS WE CAN MAKE WHEN WE GET TOGETHER IN PERSON...”
My generation grew up networking in person and while I love how big social media has made my world, and the purpose it serves in connecting people (especially what it has done for my mid-life Geller Gals who have created a wonderful community digitally) there is no substitute for the deeper connections we can make when we get together in person. I’m so proud that we travel to Miami, Los Angeles, Dallas, NYC, the Hamptons, and Chicago for our events and I get to meet and connect with women throughout the whole country.
86 8
When you started out in the beauty industry, you were doing makeup for big celebrities, including the industry’s top comedians. I hear rumblings that Laura Geller may want to break into stand-up comedy…? I’ve always been told that I have a sense for storytelling and comedic timing but was busy being a professional makeup artist, raising my son, and running a brand so it wasn’t the focus. Lately it’s a notion that keeps coming up, and I have more time to consider it, so who knows what the future holds. Stay tuned!
Shockingly, this is your first magazine cover ever! What does that mean to you, your brand, and your message that women of all ages are beautiful and cover-star worthy? I’m so honored! It means the world to me and the brand to get this kind of recognition after 27 years of Laura Geller Beauty and even longer in the industry as a professional makeup artist. It means more now that it would have back then because so few media companies highlight heritage brands or women over 40+ - it’s always about the shiny new thing. I love Bella Magazine for putting me on the cover and proudly saying we think mature women are beautiful, interesting and cover-stars. It sends such an important message and the fact that I can symbolize that is incredibly flattering.
