Welcome to our 18th Annual Bull Sale! After an interesting year to say the least, it’s nice to be able to put together a year of hard work, blood sweat and tears into one book!
We experienced the drought conditions like many other producers across North America and we know the strength and determination it takes to come out at the end. I truly believe after a year like the previous, it will make the cowherd across the country better, and made people keep the best possible genetics that they have. If you’re going to keep a cow on feed, it’s going to be the best ones!
We are extremely excited to show case you the largest set of bulls we have ever assembled! With our growing cowherd, it has allowed us to really use numbers to our advantage and get a stronger pool of genetics and type and kind to present to our customers. As much as consistency is key in a cattle operation, sometimes it’s good to have some variety and options when choosing your next herd sire. There is simply something for everyone, and in everybody’s price range. Again, like last year, we have decided to do our sale on DLMS Farmgate Timed Auction. We were thrilled with the experience it provided us and it really helped with the workload around the farm. For the majority of the day to day chores, its mostly Dad, Mom & myself. I am very thankful for the life they have let me partake in and can’t thank them enough for working together as a team and supporting with the madness we have endured with expanding the cattle portion of the farm. The timed auction is a little less chaotic with it being stretched over a couple days, it allowed us to really connect with new and previous customers as we had time to spend multiple hours visiting and really getting to understand their programs. Although the sale will be online, we welcome you to come by the farm in days and weeks prior to the sale and plan to have a social and supper during the closeout on Friday!
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has purchased or showed interest in our program over the years. Your support and confidence in our livestock, it is a gratifying feeling and we strive to produce quality seed stock for our customers. Without all of you, we would not be able to operate! Also, we would like to thank everyone who played a huge part in making this sale happen year after year, from sorting cattle, working cattle, or preparing the cattle from picturing to videoing, we can’t thank you guys enough! Thanks to Dwayne and Kim who have really helped us out on a regular basis and stepped up to lend a hand when we need it the most, and to Ryan Archdekin and Ryan Liebaert who came and helped us get the bulls clipped out prior to the cold snap! We can’t thank you guys enough! Videos will be available for viewing on DLMS and Farm Gate Timed Auction. If we can be of any assistance, feel free to call either one of us, or any of our sale staff, to go over the offering and to discuss your bull needs. We welcome you to come and tour the offering in advance so you have the ability to view the dams and sires that we have on hand. Best Regards, Corey & Alan

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. There is always favorites for Dad, and I think if you ask which cows are in his top 5, this guy’s dam would probably be in there for him. The feather cow family is most known as one of Double Bar D’s top fullblood cow family. They are made to be producers, and I hope eventually 49F will give us a heifer since she had a set of twin bull calves in 2022. Couple years back we jumped at the opportunity to acquire a semen pack on the great Ballistic bull that used to walk XRC Simmentals but was recently acquired from our great friends, the Stout Brothers. The females we have seen off Ballistic were the type and kind that would fit perfectly in our operation. We only had one female off Ballistic and she’s the best one in the replacement pen of Fullbloods. 37J has all the ingredients to be a big time herdbull prospect. He’s got the pigment, the hair, the structure, and the genetics to back him, and we are excited to see what he will do down the road! His maternal brother sold to Crossroad Farms at Shell Lake in last year’s sale! Retaining 100 straws for in herd use only.

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. One thing about this calf, is he has a ton of maternal siblings! If you look online at his dam, BRSF 7B, you’ll notice that every calf of hers has worked out and either been sold through the bull sale, or thrown right back into our program. 33J, like his brothers, seems to always stick out from the rest. Pigment again, has seemed to grace him with the big goggles and darkness. We are quite fond of these Ballistic calves and can’t wait to use some more on A.I. this spring. If there was a list of bulls in our offering we would consider keeping to use for ourselves, 33J would definitely make the list! Big footed, tons of bone, and great feet underneath him, I think a lot of this guy!

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. Some of you may remember our Lot 1 bull in last year’s sale that we gladly sold to Leewood Ranch, well here is his maternal brother! If you painted goggles on this guy, they’d be very similar in their makeup and structure. The 3D cow is as close to the perfect cow as I could picture. Great udder, great feet under her, and from the most influential cow family that we have for the fullblood side of things. His gramma 49U is still here and bred back for a late January calf. She spent last winter at Bow Valley Genetics and we are expecting many Embryos off her! To say we are excited would be an understatement. Power, performance, and a proven cow family behind him, he’s a dandy!

POLLED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. A few years ago, Mom & Dad decided to head to the Lonestone sale and ended up buying a couple heifers, with their decision, they bought 236F! She has turned out to be a rock-solid female, she has an amazing bred in the replacement pen and we are thrilled about this calf in 78J. This is the first offering from our bull we purchased from Spring Lake Simmentals and are starting to dabble more in the polled gene with the Fullbloods. The Classic calves, much like himself are thicker then thick and have incredible width of tops and will add pounds to their calves. 78J is stout made, and has tons of shape and great footed! Take advantage of some of the polled genetics in this offering! This guy is a sale feature for good reason! Take advantage of his many great assets. Retaining 100 Straws for inherd use only. POLLED FULLBLOOD. Another son off a female from the same sale as the bull ahead of him! Peas in a pod is what these Classic calves are like. The major reason for buying 24G was to use an Adonis grandson that came with the polled gene. The momma cow is a real solid female with nice clean udder and back to Arnolds Image, you are bound to have some performance and growth with Arnolds Image as a descendent! Little different goggles on this guy that makes him have a unique look! Not sure which one I would pick between these brothers, they all have the look!

POLLED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. Here is an interesting opportunity to acquire a calf with tons of genetic potential. We picked up his dam at the Westgold Female Sale a few years back and fell in love with her when we saw her. She is a drop dead gorgeous individual that we thought could make our herd better. 75J continues to make those strides at reaching his full potential as a herdbull prospect. I sound like a broken record but we really focus on a strong momma cow and these bulls really show it! A nice low 85 birth weight, he will calve really well and make awesome females one day. lot

POLLED FULLBLOOD. I really appreciate these Classic sons, they are built right for the times and you can’t put any more thickness into them. They cross really well with the cows we mated to him the first year. They aren’t going to be the largest frame bulls you will find here but they are unique on their own. Tons of width when you get behind him and big bellied in the middle, they are just simply easy cattle to feed. His dam, 308A seems to never skip a beat and always delivers regardless of the sire. Take advantage of a polled calf that has tons of shape and capacity.

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. The second 12P son in the sale this year! His mother is an older Z cow that we purchased from Double Bar D years ago. She maybe the nicest uddered cow you could ask for considering her age. A maternal brother in last year’s sale sold to Jackson Bros at Unity who was just as eye appealing. The combination of pedigrees in this guy’s bloodline is astounding. Regent, Everest, Legend, and Porterhouse Regent are some of the most influential bloodlines in the Simmental Industry. It’s always good to go and use genetics that have worked in the past, and they usually seem to make some beauties when you grab another straw out of the tank down the road!

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. Many years ago, we had old polled Rocket walk here, what he did for our program to build the fullblood cow herd is incredible. He left so many females here with dark liver red pigment and females who milk awesome. We have been slowly utilizing him again and even went out and bought some more females just so we would be able to throw in some more straws of 12P. This 103J calf is just like his sire. He is so dark and so coloured up, even going down to his hooves. His mother is an interesting female who was purchased out of the Drave’s dispersal many years ago. Siblings have sold to Jaculas at Vermilion, as well as Sinister Simmentals at Spiritwood.

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. I think if you came and experienced our bull pen in person, this one would quite commonly make it on your list. He is extremely eye appealing and just fun to watch move. He will lead off the “Stone” portion of the catalogue and for good reason. This is the first and only calf crop off his sire and they are all performance bulls! Bloodlines like Hemr Samurai, Anchor D Narcissus with Bravo in the bottom of the pedigree, makes for some real potential. His mother was a real looker who was coloured very similarly to 125J and had a real square udder. This guy is long as you can make them, super stout, and really explosive throughout. Don’t forget he a February calf, which probably doesn’t matter since he holds his own with the early Jan borns!

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. Couple years ago, we decided to buy a few from Bonchuks, this guy’s mother was part of the duo and we are really happy with how she’s turning out. Moderate framed, with liver red pigment, and as thick as you can build them. With Dealer, and MFI Jeremiah, you know that this genetic combination will come to life, and pound out some good ones. If you notice, he is just a March 10 and will be just 12 months old by sale day. It’s amazing how these younger calves can catch up and look their part.

HORNED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. Here is the maternal brother to the bull we sold to Oakview Simmentals a couple years ago! The cow behind these fellas have no lack of milk and they are a typical power bloodline. This guy has size to breed mature cows as a yearling and is longer then you can imagine. The perfect bull to build feedlot steers and make your pockets fill with cash. A combination of True Grit and Cracker on the cow side, with the powerful pedigree from the Stone bull, these bulls have tons of potential and punch.

POLLED/SCURRED FULLBLOOD. NON-DILUTER. I didn’t really take much of a look at this guy at the start since he is a late almost March birthday but I tell ya, this calf is coming in hot! He is looking so good, maybe he’s one I should consider keeping for myself. Things he has going for him is his colour, pigment, and darkness, he is probably one of the softest made Fullbloods in the offering and he really is holding his one with those Jan borns. His mother is a nice feminine female that is coloured the same as this guy, and back to Gibbons Jeremiah and back to the Baron bull from Bonchuks. lot

POLLED FULLBLOOD. NONDILUTER. Every year we seem to always have a few Imax calves off first calf heifers, and this year is no different. Don’t judge him for his little bit shorter tail, still not sure what happened, but at the end of the day, you don’t need that to produce and breed cows. Polled bull with calving ease in the bloodlines, should allow you to make calving a breeze. He did come with a 104 lb birthweight but his momma is a fairly large cow that had no problem having him. Again, he has that interesting outcross pedigree on the bottom and comes with a stand-up female who is back again in the barn for round 2! Easy doing bull who will get the job done, and turn into an awesome herdbull someday.

Calving Ease
Over the last few years, we have noticed a fair share of Cattleman wanting a touch smaller birthweights on the bulls they are buying. We have put that to mind and used some calving ease sires while still maintaining that growth and performance. You don’t need the biggest cow to raise the best bulls, you just need a cow that puts her calf before herself! Every calf gets weighted right after they are born and anything that needs our assistance, loses its chance at making the bull pen the next year! Here is a helpful system to assist you in selection!
* Recommended for cows only ** Recommended for cows or larger framed heifers *** Recommend for heifers and cows.
Weights
Weaning weights were taken OCTOBER 10, 2021 Yearling weights were taken JANUARY 28, 2022 ALL WEIGHTS WERE ACTUAL WEIGHTS ON THESE DATES, NO ADJUSTING.

HOMO POLLED. NON-DILUTER. Over the course of the year, bull calves begin to get that herdbull look. If there was one individual that came across the horizon in the pasture and really had that front-end pasture look, it was the red calf we call Brooksy! Brooksy has many unique characteristics that would add a lot of elements to pretty much any type of cow you could think of. He’s deep, soggy, and portrays the most natural muscle of any calf in the bull pen, and has tons of testicular development. His mother, 93C has turned into a herd matron that milks really good, and is just a simple doing female who continues to bang out a good one every year. His mother is actually a polled fullblood cow who is almost solid red. Little bit of red genetics mixed with fullblood! It’s not often that a bull with this much punch comes around and we are really looking forward to seeing what he can do in the cattle industry. 17J was part of our show string at Lloydminster Stockade Roundup.

HOMO POLLED. NON-DILUTER. When it comes to explaining this guy, I’m not quite sure where to start. He’s put together so well, deep, long, tons of pigment, and off an awesome Super Duty cow. 9D continues to produce exceptional progeny on a regular basis and has shown that regardless of what she’s mated to, you bound to have something incredible. This year she popped out a real good set of twins, she should have no problem raising the both of them! It’s not often we are excited about a calf as much as this one but he has begun to outshine some of his brothers and we couldn’t be more thrilled at the look, build, and desirable when you walk through the pen. This one is the complete package, here is your opportunity to chase a good one.

HETERO POLLED. NON-DILUTER. Definite sale feature here! 23J has rose to be one of the top reds in this year’s bull sale. Again, another Freadey son who comes with ease of calving but a large amount of growth and performance. A full brother in last year’s sale sold to the Redlich family at Biggar, who was very similar made. His mother is a cow who is very consistent with calves every year and seems to make them soft made and very ideal to the commercial cattleman. Being off the great Recoil bull, you know there’s going to be tons of milking ability off the females!

HETERO POLLED. NONDILUTER. When we discuss cows that are probably under rated on the farm, I think 118Y comes into conversation. She is a cow that never really comes across the radar to often but every year she raises one of the largest calves and which are always at the top of the list for keeper pen. She’s a real good Suspect that has tons of milk and will never let you down. 94J has that real herdbull look to him, he’s probably one the thickest bulls in the offering and has the nicest hair you could slap on an animal. Calving ease, performance, and proven genetics to back him up.

HOMO POLLED. NON-DILUTER. A bull nicknamed “Big Mike” for a good reason. This fella has been the friendliest individual since day 1. The day we decided to pull Herdbulls from the pasture where the bull calf pairs were, 92J just so happened to come into the corrals and we looked at him, and thought, “why not throw a halter on him and take him to the show.” He’s deep sided, heavy barrelled, but yet holds a very eye appealing and attractive look. His mother is a young Merchant daughter who drops a gorgeous udder and maybe the squarest and tidiest within the cowherd. He’s got that special baldy face and splash of white that can produce the magnificent baldy females that are highly sought after in the livestock industry. Nice modest birthweight and a really great weaning weight, these calves come small and grow!

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Hairy, stout, long bodied, and just how we like them! Tons of performance with this guy and we are really happy with how he is a complete package and clicks a lot of boxes. He is one of the first sons born out of the Mappin bull that we unfortunately lost to injury just after one calf crop. If you notice this guy’s birthweight, you will realize that it’s a nice modest 85 lbs, they come small but really grow. Another heavy milking Recoil daughter who has raised bulls for Eric Huard, Bob Heather, and Prairie Hill Farms.

HETERO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Last year’s bull sale brought us a powerful pen of red bulls. This guy’s maternal brother was one of them selling for good money to North Creek Simmentals! His dam was purchased from Perlingers a few years ago in the Source sale and she has really done well in her first 2 calves. An interesting combo of genetics with Circuit Breaker and Three Sixty in the bottom side of pedigree, and off the Mappin bull with Brooks. Anytime you can get a second calver weaning off calves at 880 lbs, you know that they are worth their weight in gold! lot

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Last year we sold a bull named Cash to Cole & Landon Weiss. This guy reminds me a lot of that same calf. He has many favourable characteristics that cattlemen strive to find in the cattle they are breeding. Hair, stoutness, dark red colour, and the idea of sticking out. This guy sticks out! You might notice that he is off one of our largest cow families, the Tori family. They are a giant group of momma cows that literally always get the job done. His mother 846F is a big time female and off the great Absolute bull that we had a few years back. I’ve had my eye on this guy since they came back after being weaned and I really appreciate how he is built. Moderate framed, but still has the potential to make those high-performance calves. His dam is a young female with a kick of fullblood in her bloodlines, being off a polled fullblood cow, the gramma is a female you would fall in love with. HETERO POLLED. It’s a shame that we only have one calf crop off of the Mappin bull. We really thought he was a bull that would be here for a long time, unfortunately due to an injury, we no longer have him. This guy is interesting, he has tons of shape, substance, and masculinity. Broad topped and deep flanked are things that he can appreciated for. An easy doing bull that will go out and produce with his proven cow family behind him. His grand dam is one of the older females here now and she has always calved in the first couple weeks of the calving period year after year and has sold multiple high selling bulls.

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Early February calf that is off one of the oldest cows on the farm. Again, these Freadey calves all come looking the same, small, with tons of vigor. 280Z is off one of the good old Erixon cows that we still have today and it’s a strong example of how long these females last in the cowherd. Defiantly not the largest frame cow, but at the end of the day, the biggest cows don’t always raise the biggest calves.

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. A real solid moderate framed guy here! Another Mappin son and off the Satin cow family. These females are known for their nice small tight udders. His dam is a Royal Red daughter who is a very unique individual. Hard working and easy doing are a few characteristics about her. This guy is a deep sided calf that has tons of spring through his rib structure and can really get out and move.

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. A nice opportunity to acquire a herdbull prospect off the best uddered red cow we have! The 26C female was purchased out of the Draves dispersal many years back and she turned into be one hell of a female. She’s a moderate framed cow that has really put everything into her calves and has one of the strongest mothering abilities. We sold a bred female this fall in the Source Sale that sold to the Hoffman Family. Her calves always come small if you take a peek at this guy’s birthweight, you will notice it’s a real small 74 lbs. 29J’s maternal sister has calved and its truly incredible how cool built she is. A no brainer cow family mixed with the great calving ease bloodlines on the sire side, what more could you ask for.

MATERNAL SISTER TO LOT 32
HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. If you’re after something that’s going to throw darkness, I think I would say 178J is the one to do the job. He is a just a March calf that has shown that it doesn’t matter if you a Jan, Feb or March, when your made to be good, you’re going to make the bull pen. His mother is still here as a W female and she has an incredible track record to her. She has produced multiple bulls and females around western Canada. The granddam was actually my first 4-H female that I ever had the first year in the early years of showing cattle. Throw in the fact he is homo polled, you can defiantly use him in any situation you find yourself in.

HOMO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Quick story on this guy, he is considered a ¾ blood but he is actually fully purebred. His mother cow couldn’t be registered due to a hair sample issue with the sire of her. Regardless of all that, he is a baldy, which makes him really desirable in the bull pen. Notice his birthweight, another middle of March calf that will turn 12 months old around his birthday. Another small birthweight on him, and comes with lots of performance on the cow side. He will do many great things maternally and it would be interesting to see the type of females hes going to make. lot

HETERO POLLED. NONDILUTER. Another solid calf that comes from a real awesome baldy cow. Most of these red calves would be considered ¾ siblings and you can really tell the depth in quality of the offering. This guy is stout, moderate framed, and comes with great foundation and structure under him. Another moderate birthweight on him and I think that he has the opportunity to really throw some calving ease into a program.

HETERO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. Here is a bull with a little bit extra age, being born in December, he will have the size and athletic ability to get those larger cows bred. 805H is a stud when it comes to balance and structure. He’s incredibly stout, loose hidded, and off the good Mader Impulse bull we walked. It is for good reason that we decided to lead off 805H for the black offering of the sale. His mother is a young red cow who has a picture-perfect udder and off one of our 4-H heifers from years ago. Little splash of fullblood way in the bottom, it’s only going to add performance. These Royal Red udders are some of the best we have seen and are tidy as can be. Nice modest birthweight of 88 lbs with a 950 lb weaning weight, its exactly what you look for in cattle.

HETERO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. WOW! A pedigree and cow family that we are excited about. This guy is a lady’s man, he has it all. A younger birthdate for sure but one who won’t let the older calves surpass him, 158J has surprised us and gained our full attention when he came off pasture. He’s got tons of barrel, maybe the stoutest and soundest bull in the pen, he is special! His mother is a fantastic looking baldy cow and off one of the herd matrons in his grand dam, 19W. She is a cow who still walks BRSF and actually was one of the first females to calve again at the ripe age of 14. The baldy gene continues to be passed along down the line, and you can guarantee is what you will get with his offspring.

HOMO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. Dale is a pen favorite for sure! One of the coolest baldies bulls we have raised, and who causes many second looks in the bull pen. He is off an awesome D cow who could very well be sent to the donor pen to be flushed. A red cow with tons of capacity, huge barreled, and one that has a ton of milk production. 64J was a standout with his mother as a pair in the pasture, and I might say was our favorite for sure. With an outstanding weaning weight of 980, and outcross pedigree to the industry, I think Dale will be one to keep an eye on. He will add that chrome, add structure, and make those replacement heifers that everyone is after. He will really move a program ahead in the future.

HOMO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. Years ago, we went out and searched for a black bull and ended up buying one at Anchor D, and after the dust settled, we bought Black Beard. His females are amazing, hard workers, and always bring in the big calves every fall. 9E, the damn of 51J is a great example of what they can produce like. Like his Grandsire, 51J has a stocky build, wide topped, and has tons of hair that is so useful in the environments their raised in. He has a nice birthweight of 92 and another off the good Impulse bull. His granddam is one of our favourite red cows that continues get rebred early and continue her career!

HETERO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. Here is another awesome Impulse son off one of the cool baldy cows we purchased from Spring Creek Simmentals! The young Gracie cow has come up to the plate and hit a home run with 40J. He is incredibly deep ribbed, strong footed, and fleshy as you can make them. Many folks are looking for smaller birthweights and this guy came across the calf scale as 89 pounds. It takes a good second calver to wean off a calf at 820 lbs after a dry year. 40J is backed by a phenomenal parent on both sides of the pedigree, we think he’ll be an easy decision from the offering! lot

HOMO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. Little bit different pedigree here! We purchased a female from Dart Simmentals a few years ago that has shown she can produce with the big girls. Allegiance in the bottom of the pedigree can guarantee something a little different than what we usually go for with genetics. Another low birthweight Impulse son that is built just like his sire, they are long, deep flanked, and meat machines!

HOMO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. We usually have a few good half-blood bulls every year and this might be the best guy we’ve ever brought to the table. His mother is a young black cow that is a dandy when coming to disposition and how you imagine you’d want all your commercial females. Nice square udder that is tight and just the perfect amount of milking capabilities. When there that good of cows, does it really matter if their registered-on paper? 27J is built with tons of hair and is extremely loose hided and stylish to boot. He should work extremely well on any type of female and be really maternal when producing those females. Come and see his damn in person and I think you’d really admire her!

HETERO POLLED. HOMO BLACK. ¾ blood here, these guys are rugged and thick! Of course, another Mader Impluse son that has risen to be another legitimate herdbull prospect. Moderate framed and super soggy is a few words to explain what this guy is like. His mother is a nice young E cow that is turning out to be a top-notch producer after her first few years of production and we feel that she’s the type of female that would be a front runner in a lot of different operations. His maternal grandsire Black Beard is the most influential black sire we have used and the number of females that he produced for us is incredible.

HETERO POLLED. HETERO BLACK. The ideal herdbull prospect for the heifer pen! This is one of Maxi’s first calves to sell, last year she decided it was time to purchase a group of red bred heifers. This is one of the results of that purchase! 290H came small and with tons of vigor. He is built with a clean front end, smooth shoulder, and a nice small head. He is one of the longer bulls in the offering! He should have the ability to calve with ease and get up and go. His mother is a red baldy cow who did a bang-up job on her first progeny. Calving ease bulls can sometimes be hard to come by, so take a peek at this neat individual. lot

How to Participate in this DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auction with Extended Bidding : 1. Visit https://farmgatetimedauctions.ca , click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button. First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and pass word to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. 2. You can choose your favorite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/ or an email noting this activity. 3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.
4. At Closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding for 5 minute if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. When no bidding occurs for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. 5. Within 24 hours of the sale close the Sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or Sale Consignors. More Info: What is Racehorse Style Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding. How will Extended Bidding works? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
EPD TERMS DEFINED BY THE CANADIAN SIMMENTAL ASSOCIATION
CE - CALVING EASE The ease with which a bull’s calves are born to first calf heifers. A first calf heifer is defined as a female calving for the first time at 33 months of age or less. EPDs are reported as the expected difference in unassisted calvings. When comparing calving ease EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a higher percent of unassisted births for calves sired by this bull. BW - BIRTH WEIGHT Calf weight at birth adjusted to a mature dam equivalent. Expected progeny performance is reported in pounds. The EPD value predicts the difference in average birth weight of a bull’s calves, compared to calves of all other bulls evaluated. When comparing the birth weight EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a heavier average birth weight for calves sired by this bull. WW - WEANING WEIGHT Calf weight taken between 160 and 250 days of age and adjusted to 205 days of age and a mature dam equivalent. Expected progeny performance is reported in pounds. The EPD value predicts the difference in average 205-day weight of an animal’s calves compared to calves of all other animals evaluated. When comparing the weaning weight EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a heavier average weaning weight for calves sired by this bull.
YW - YEARLING WEIGHT Weight taken between 330 and 440 days of age and adjusted to 365 days of age and a mature dam equivalent. Expected progeny performance is reported in pounds. The EPD value predicts the difference in average 365-day weight of an animal’s progeny, compared to the progeny of all other animals evaluated. When comparing the yearling weight EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a heavier average yearling weight for calves sired by this bull. MWW - MATERNAL WEANING WEIGHT The weaning weight of an animal’s daughters’ calves. Expected progeny performance is reported in pounds. The EPD value predicts the difference in average 205-day weight of an animal’s daughters’ calves compared to calves from daughters of all other animals evaluated. The evaluation reflects both the maternal ability of an animal’s daughters and the growth potential of their calves. When comparing maternal weaning weight EPDs of two sires, the larger maternal weaning weight EPD indicates heavier weights due to daughters’ ability to produce heavier calves MCE - MATERNAL CALVING EASE The ease with which a sire’s daughters calve as first calf heifers. A first calf heifer is defined as a female calving for the first time at 33 months of age or less. Expected progeny differences are reported as the difference in % unassisted calving’s. When comparing the maternal calving ease EPDs of two sires, the larger EPD indicates a higher percentage of unassisted births for calves born to this sire’s daughters. Maternal Calving Ease = 1⁄2 of the CE EPD + Maternal Calving Ease. MILK - MATERNAL MILK The maternal ability of an animal’s daughters. Expected progeny performance is reported in pounds of calf weaning weight. The EPD value predicts the difference (due to maternal ability) in average 205-day weight of an animal’s daughters’ calves, compared to calves of daughters of all other evaluated animals. When comparing the maternal milk EPDs of two sires, the larger maternal milk EPD indicates heavier average weaning weights due to the daughters’ greater maternal ability.
