Hillsdown Gelbvieh is very pleased to present to you our first ever bull catalog. When we started our herd almost 20 years ago our focus was on foundation females and throughout the years the upmost importance has been placed on careful selection of genetics, phenotype and EPD’s. This has resulted in a herd of cows with phenomenal maternal qualities that can perform in the most dismal of circumstances. That was proven again in 2018 during a second consecutive drought year. Our females posted impressive weaning weights despite the lack of good pasture and maintained good shape for January calving. Our bull pen is in a 15 acre grassy paddock where they must walk up and downhill many times a day for water and feed. They are pail fed a specifically tailored bull ration along with free choice hay, with shelter and ample bedding which is an absolute necessity during this brutal and unforgiving winter. We feel that this selection of red and black purebred Gelbvieh bulls, packed with Dam of Merit and Distinction pedigree’s, will fill the need for any situation, from calving ease to low birth weights to performance. We want our bulls to work for you and earn their keep by producing great genetics, be it terminal for the feedlot or replacements and herd builders. There is something here for everyone, from the discerning commercial producer to the purebred breeder looking for his next herdsire. 2019 is going to be a year of new experiences for Hillsdown Gelbvieh. We have our first bull in exportable AI service with HDG Hillsdown Finnegan 4F who is currently calling Alta Genetics his home. We also have started our embryo program with donor cows HDG Candy Girl 13C, HDG Avery 13D (Finnegan’s Dam) and HDG Baylee 14B (Avery’s Dam). Delivery is available, bulls have been DNA tested for parentage and Homozygous polled and will be semen tested by a certified veterinarian. Thick is a good word to use when discussing Atticus a JRI Home Brew son, he is all that and more. He is very moderate framed but is as wide as he is deep, with a ton of muscle. Harper Lee HDG 28D is out of a very maternal and performance cow family going back to HDG Katy 44W. 25F has a ton of curly dark red hair and would make a phenomenal heifer bull without sacrificing those very important WW numbers.

One needs to appreciate the planning and commitment that has gone into a breeding program that offers genetics like Fraggel. His maternal Grand Dam is a 4 time Dam of Distinction and his sire (Astro son) is a sibling to HDG 13C Candy Girl. Private Treaty Bull Sale

BULLS WILL BE SOLD ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. We require that bulls left at Hillsdown be insured.

Delivery is available, please inquire with Eddie or Wanda. We will keep and feed your bull after you purchase him until April 1st at no cost, after that, you will be charged $5/day. Bulls will be semen tested by a licensed verterinarian. Bulls are fully guaranteed under the terms and conditions of the Canadian Gelbvieh Association. HERD HEALTH PROTOCOL All bulls have received Ivomec and have been vaccinated for IBR, SOM, Blackleg Ultra 8.
