Welcome
This year has been interesting with record setting calf prices and a significant decrease in the cow herd size across north America. We all hope that these prices are here to stay for a couple years, and we get the much needed moisture to have a really good year. As you flip through our bull sale catalogue it is our goal that you are seeing the evolution of two programs that are consistently looking at the demands of the cattle industry. Whether you are a seedstock producer or a large or small cow/calf producer, it is our goal to be moving the needle for what your program needs.
With the combination of these two purebred programs, that offer both yearling and two-year-old bulls, you should feel confident in the product you are buying. Both of our programs have been built on a strong female base bred to elite Gelbvieh bulls. We are continuously striving to find new genetics that allow us to provide the best possible bulls that will add profit to your bottom line.
For those who don’t know about our programs:
Nelson Gelbvieh has a long-standing tradition of producing top quality commercial and seed stock bulls. They have acquired some of the best bulls in the breed that have produced high selling bred females in The Gathering, year over year. This year they have over 30 top quality yearling bulls.
Pin to Point Gelbvieh is a smaller yet progressive program that focuses on quality with an extensive A.I. and embryo program. They have gone on to find top quality females from programs all over North America to create a solid female base. Calving in March and April, has allowed them to focus on developing 2 year-old bulls with high standards, the 6 bulls on offer this year are elite herd sire prospects.
All bulls will have a semen and breeding soundness evaluation done prior to the sale. We will have a supplement sheet of current weights that we will post on our website prior to the sale.
We want to thank everyone for your continued support throughout the years and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us:

Here’s a bull sired by the great Secretariat 285E 78 bull from JRI. This will be one of the last groups of natural sired calves from Secretariat; who sires calves with lots of capacity and growth while moderating birth weights and frame score. He is very quiet and DDN 628D is a 3 times Dam of Merit female.
DDN 340L has a great disposition with lots of capacity and was sired by the great “Where’s The Beef” bull raised by Judd Ranch in Kansas. He was the high selling bull out of 300 in Judd’s 2022 sale. “Where’s The Beef” has not disappointed any of us breeders who have used him. As we settle into our new home, we are so lucky to have such great family and friends that allow us to continue to do what we do and continue to expand our purebred operation. We are very privileged to work alongside Duane & Linda Nelson and provide you will great quality bulls. Their continued partnership in this year’s bull sale, is something that excites us every year to bring our best bulls to the sale and continue to develop long standing relationships with our bull customers.
The six 2-year-old bulls we have for sale are all homo polled, parent verified, and come from Johne’s free Dam’s. These bulls have a great disposition and are grown with longevity in mind well not sacrificing growth. Although we don’t have quantity, we feel that the 5 red bulls and single black bull is a reflection of years of hard work in acquiring and layering on genetics. Of the 6 bulls on offer 4 are directly out of our ET program and the other two are due to a progressive AI program. We feel confident that these bulls are the best we have produced and are not only a good representation of the Gelbvieh breed but also the direction we are heading with our purebred operation.
If you have questions on the bulls in our sale or want to come for a tour please do not hesitate to give us a call. Come see these bulls in person as I am sure they will impress you!
Thank you,

Here is an outcross bull that has really impressed us over the past year. He ranks in the top 3% for Weaning and 2% for Yearling and Docility EPDs. He has an impressive 85lb BW to 913lb YW. You have to appreciate this bull for his natural muscle shape, lower quarter expression and depth of rib. This bull is layered in his pedigree with the likes of SLC Parkland 31E (our leading Donor), RWG Captain C701 (the 2016 Canadian Bull Futurity Champion), and SLC Lora 164Y (a prominent donor female at Royal Western Gelbvieh). Expect his calves to be long, hairy and naturally muscled.
This mating has flat out worked! These two solid red elite full ET siblings offer so much depth of rib, capacity and natural muscle that you can’t go wrong with either one of them. Unfortunately, we lost our leading Donor SLC Parkland 31E in the middle of January and this will be the last available genetics on this breed changing female. From birth, Keepin it Cool and King of Cool have been standouts in the pen. You have to respect the top and overall look of these bulls. Both of these bulls can truly be a program changing herd sire, that will add top quality, easy fleshing progeny.
4K
4K ET
When looking at this flush these 2 bulls follow in the footsteps of their siblings. Their 2 full sibling sisters have impressed us with a similar growth pattern, near flawless udders and have already made it into our donor pen moving forward. A full sibling, RWG Just to Cool 1416, gathered a lot of attention last year in the 2023 Draft Picks bull sale and ended up in Mexico. Keepin it Cool and King of Cool, have followed in their brothers footsteps with lots of hair, natural growth, and eye appeal. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own these herd sire prospects.

This flush mating was out of the box thinking that we feel has worked out really well. Knight, our only black bull on offer, is built on the maternal characteristics from SLC Parkland 5E layered with the natural muscle expression and length of body of PHG Enigma E32. Enigma, the 2018 Grand Champion bull at Farm fair and 2017 Canadian Bull Futurity Champion, has very limited genetics available in Canada and the US, which made this combination even more unique. We have had 3 flush sisters that have made their way to the top of our breeding program with great udders and loads of style in a moderate package. Knight is a solid herd sire prospect we feel will add performance and style to the cows he is bred to.

King Pin is a complete bull that could be used in a lot of different scenarios. With a lighter birthweight of 85lbs and an adjusted weaning weight of 873lbs he has done a great job. Unfortunately, we lost RWG Malibu last year and this was her resulting flush that we had as insurance. King Pin is a great herd sire prospect that has a lot of capacity and natural muscle expression. This is a bull that could be used on heifers and cows and still produce calves that wean off well in the fall!

Kodiak, is a bull that is truly unique in his make up. He might have one of the nicest front 1/3rds and head design of any of the Guilt Trip calves we have raised. His overall neck extension blends into a nice smooth shoulder and long spine that will add length and eye appeal to his progeny. His dam, RJH Fancy Lass, was a female we purchased out of the 2018 gathering who has turned out to be a standout in the pasture and is also sired by HL SLC Masterplan 58C. His sire, RWG Guilt Trip was the high selling bull in the same sale for 29,000 for 1/2 possession. Kodiak is a bull that provides options for those high performing cows that you want to keep the birth weight down but not take away from their overall performance and growth patterns.

HOW TO BID IN A TIMED AUCTION
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max
Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process. Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
WATCH LIST FEATURE
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
SALE ENDING / CLOSEOUT
Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
What is Racehorse Style Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How will Extended Bidding work? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
BIDDING CLOSE & FOLLOW-UP
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions. Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.
BIDDING OPENS AT 9:00 AM MARCH 22ND - CLOSE-OUT BEGINS AT 6:00 P.M. ON MARCH 23RD
