‘Journey’ river. A children’s fun run begins at 8:45 a.m. The half-mile run for youngsters begins at the halfmarathon’s ofďŹ cial start-ďŹ nish line. Parents are welcome to run with their youngsters. The main event of the day, the chip-timed USATF-certiďŹ ed half-marathon, begins at Court Square Park at 9 a.m. The course takes runners along Minnesota’s Scenic Byway with rolling hills and stunning views. Half-marathoners will then run back through the historic Avenue of the Trees and Blakeley village, until a gradual climb takes them back to the ďŹ nish line in Belle Plaine. If 13.1 miles seems excessive, a two-person relay is also available. It also starts at 9 a.m. from Court Square Park. A 5-kilometer run begins at 9:20 a.m. It is also a chip-timed, USATF-certiďŹ ed race on a route through Belle Plaine. Runners are encouraged to register online at www.belle-

The BPHS cross-country team will be serving a free-will offering spaghetti dinner for runners. Check-in on race day is 7 a.m.

Harvest Festival

The Scenic Byway River Run is part of a day of family fun. The Belle Plaine Historical Society will also be giving free tours of the historic HooperBowler-Hillstrom House.
