H.S. Tennis Ireland Lambrecht Advances to Semifinals Before Falling to Familiar MRC Opponent Belle Plaine High School junior and No. 3 seed Ireland Lambrecht won two matches at last Thursday’s opening day of the Section 2AA Individual Tennis Tournament at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter before falling to defending section champion and No. 2 seed Carlie Brandt of Le Sueur-Henderson 0-6, 1-6 this past Monday afternoon. Following her loss to Brandt, Lambrecht still had some tennis left to play. In the third-place match, Lambrecht defeated Ra-
Football Academy winner will play the G-SL/Holy Family winner in the section championship game at the home of the higher seed 3 p.m. this Saturday. Tigers 42, Watertown-M 21 Last Wednesday’s game against Watertown-Mayer marked the second time in a row that the Tigers had over 500 yards of offense. They had 519 against previously unbeaten Marshall the Friday before and against the Royals they piled up 506 yards (350 rushing and 156 passing). On Belle Plaine’s second possession, running back Carter Brink scored on a 45-yard run. Ruben Baltierrez, who would be successful on all six of his extra-point kicks, made it 7-0 with 7:31 left in the first quarter. The Tigers also scored on their next two possessions – a 32-yard TD pass from Luke Narveson to Jonny Vinkemeier and a 24-yard run by Marcus Walsh, making it 21-0 with 52 seconds left in the opening quarter. The Royals cut the lead to 21-7 with a scoring drive early in the second quarter but Belle Plaine built it right back up to 28-7 on a 24-yard keeper by Narveson with 7:24 left in the first half. W-M quarterback Adam Heilman scored on a keeper a few minutes later before a 71-yard screen pass play from Narveson to Walsh made it 35-14 with 23 seconds left in the half. The second half was relatively quiet as the Tigers and Royals both scored one touchdown. Walsh’s third TD of the game came on a 66-yard scamper with 7:50 left in the third quarter. The Royals countered late in the fourth quarter on a 14yard run by Nick Nolan. “I thought the kids did a pretty good job of avoiding a let down after the big win the week before,” said Tigers coach Justin Johnston. “Anytime the playoffs start you know that the next game could be your last if you don’t give maximum effort. We jumped out 21-0 and I thought we relaxed a little bit but were able to finish strong. Every game will get tougher from here on out, so we have to play our best ball every game.” Narveson completed eight of 13 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Walsh had two receptions for 74 yards and one TD, while Vinkemeier had three catches for 55 yards and a TD. Brody Curtiss added two catches for 20 yards and Wally Schultz had one for 7 yards. Walsh had 12 rushes for 144 yards and two TDs, followed by Narveson with eight keepers for 88 yards and one TD. Brink had nine rushes for 71 yards

chel Huber of St. Peter 6-2, 6-3. She then met up with Sperr for true second place, losing 1-6, 1-6. “Ireland had a great finish with a third-place medal,” said Tigers coach Annette Moylan. “She played six sets of tennis on Monday and played incredible, finishing third out of 18 singles players. She showed great determination. As a coach all you can ask is that your players give it their all, and Ireland did that the entire season.” Last Thursday, Lambrecht defeated Sibley East’s Alyssa Weber 6-0, 6-1 in the first round and Holy Family Catholic’s Sophie Lynch 6-3, 6-2 in round two.

Students obtain and study the safety information on the interactive CD at their own pace in the comfort of their own home under the guidance of a parent or guardian. Depending on the youth’s age and experience, the CD should take approximately 2-4 hours to complete. Once they complete the CD, students print out a “voucher of completion” and look on the DNR website to find and register for a one-day Snowmobile Safety CD class in their area. The one day class includes classroom review of priority safety information and a performance driving course.
