FISHERIES & MARINE While there has been millions of dollars invested in Belize’s Fisheries and Marine industry and many infrastructural and other start- up hurdles crossed, the industry is still bedeviled by the reality of competing on a fierce global landscape. Despite these concerns however, entrepreneurs both local and foreign keep embracing the challenges; for example, the shrimp industry in Belize is in existence for over 39 years.

There are a number of farmed species planted in Belize and these include but not limited to: pacific white shrimp, nile tilapia, cobia, spiny lobster and queen conch. However, investment opportunities lie in the farming of sea weed, sea cucumber, finfish, florida stone crab and their value-added products.
