Annie Humphrey to perform at Grassroots Concerts March 8
NISSWA — Grassroots Concerts will host Annie Humphrey in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 8, at the Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar, 5459 Lakers Lane, in Nisswa.
Humphrey is an Anishinaabe singer and songwriter from Leech Lake. She will share new music from her recent release, “The Light In My Bones,” a release said.
”Her songs inspire, and emphasize the power individuals have over
their own destiny,” the release said. Humphrey worked with producer Jeremy Ylvisaker on the project, and he will join her on the Grassroots stage.
Grassroots Concerts are the nonprofit cultural offerings of a small, happy society of “largely omnivorous but gentle folk” dedicated to the preservation of live entertainment in vicarious times, the release said.
The series began in the day of house concerts, which filled living rooms in Little Falls and Baxter, where musicians shared mostly their original songs. From homes, the venue moved to a town hall, after-hours medical center lobby, church, Odd Fellows Hall and community center, the release said.
”Artists love our series, love the acoustic venue, appreciate not playing in
a bar and love that people are listening,” said Dawn Stattine, artistic director of the series, in the release.
Tickets are available for purchase at the door. Admission for general seating is $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12 with listening attention, when accompanied by an adult.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item or cash donation for the food shelf.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with showtime at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served. To learn more about Humphrey, visit anniehumphreymusic.com. View a complete list of performers for the 2024 Grassroots Concerts series at grassrootsconcerts.org.
