About BeMSA The Belgian Medical Students’ Association (BeMSA) is a Belgian student-run organisation. As of the 2018-2019 academic year, it represents medical students from 9 of the faculties across the country, while also establishing international connections through the existing network of 137 national member organisations of the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA). Each year we organise a series of events on a local, national and international level. Additionally, our clinical and research exchange programs send over 100 Belgian students abroad every year, while accommodating the same number of foreign students. This allows them to explore innovations in medicine, healthcare systems and healthcare delivery in various settings across the globe. BeMSA brings people together to exchange, discuss and initiate projects with the goal of creating a healthier world. It provides medical students with the skills and resources needed to be health leaders. With the help of the IFMSA, it also advocates for the pressing issues that matter to us to shape the world we want to live in. And it does deliver: our projects, our campaigns and our activities positively impact the physicians-to be alongside the communities they serve.
About the IFMSA The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA), founded in 1951, is one of the world’s oldest and largest student-run organizations. It represents, connects, and engages every day with an inspiring and engaging network of 1.3 million medical students from 137 national members organizations in 127 countries around the globe.

Belgian Medical Students’ Association – Sponsorship Prospectus
1 Why Should You Support Us? The Belgian Medical Students’ Association is the only organisation representing and uniting students from both French-speaking and Dutch-speaking medical faculties across the country. We can therefore provide you with easy access not only to the student community, but also the future generations of medical professionals. Moreover, while the majority of our projects are organised on a national level, we also frequently interact with our colleagues from all around the world, working on projects such as the Professional and Research Exchange Programs. It is through such activities that we provide access to the network of 1.3 million students represented by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) throughout the entire globe. On an international level, our parent organisation, the IFMSA, has established partnerships with organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations (UN), the World Medical Association (WMA) and many more. By supporting us, you would join them to actively participate in the shaping of the future of medicine, as well as positively influencing our communities through our public health, sexual education and human rights activities.

Public Health Programs
8 Standing Committee on Public Health The Standing Committee on Public Health organises projects targeting all issues related to public health, including global health issues, health policies, health promotion and education. Each year our local committees in each city coordinate the following projects:
8.1
Teddy Bear Hospital (TBH)
Teddy Bear Hospital aims to overcome the fear from doctors that young children often experience by teaching them about various procedures in a fun way. We use teddy bears or costumes to make them more comfortable around medical staff and equipment.
8.2
Heart for Life (H4L)
Heart for Life aims to improve prevention of cardiovascular disease risk by examining passersby in a public location.
8
9
Reproductive Health
9 Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS The Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS (SCORA) gathers passionate students in Belgium who are committed to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights in order to positively influence their local communities. We are fighting for a world where every individual is empowered to exercise their sexual and reproductive health rights equally, free from stigma and discrimination.
9.1
S.O.S. Sexual Education in School
Sexual education in School is a volunteer project, initiated by BeMSA and supported by ICRH. With this initiative, we want to give adolescents access to reliable information about sexuality, relationships, contraception and STI prevention. In an airy educational way, we try to give youngsters the ability to make informed and individual decisions about their body and health. In addition, we want to break some existing myths and taboos about these topics. The SOS project is a form of peer education in which young people are supported to bring about a healthpromoting behavioural change with other young people. This leads to a lower threshold for talking about sensitive subjects. 9.2
The Stigma Challenge
Every year on December 1, the world celebrates the World Aids Day. Unfortunately, this day goes unnoticed to many. Therefore, SCORA organized another event apart from World AIDS day - ' The Stigma Challenge'. This is a small festival with the purpose of breaking the taboo and stigma surrounding HIV, AIDS and other STIs. The stigma that patients with HIV carry along each day is partly caused by ignorance, but mainly because of the lack of proper information in our society and our aim is to change this by all means available to us. On the 1st of March 2017, several of our Local Committees organized a mini-festival on central squares of their respective cities. The musical and festive atmosphere allowed students and passers-by get educated in a pleasant yet informative environment. We plan on expanding this project even further in the upcoming years.

Human Rights and Peace
10 Standing Committee on Human Rights The Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP) unites Belgian students who strive to create an equal and peaceful world, and believe in international, intercultural as well as interpersonal solidarity. We in SCORP work for a fairer and more inclusive society, against all forms of oppression, inequalities, racism and sexism – in Belgium and in the world.
We at BeMSA believe that communication, collaboration and exchange of ideas with our colleagues abroad is essential in order to improve our way of working and therefore, increase our contribution to our societies. It is for this reason that we encourage our members to participate in a series of international conventions.
