COURSE GUIDEBOOK
HISTORY OF COPETOWN WOODS GOLF CLUB Copetown Woods Golf Club represents not only one of the premier championship courses in south-western Ontario, but also one of the Provinces finest. The meticulous condition of the course and the yesteryear beauty of the Victorian-style clubhouse disguise the fact that Copetown Woods took only fourteen months to build. The land the golf course now graces was once a broccoli farm owned and operated by Gordon Forth Farms Ltd, still in operation today farming three neighbouring properties. Gordon Forth and his brother Neil grew numerous varieties of fresh vegetables for many years, however in 1984 they made a decision to specialize solely in Broccoli, a theme that is still present around the golf course today. For many years, the gently rolling 200 acre site pose many challenges in producing a high quality crop up to the Forth
Farms standards, so an investigation into an alternative use for the site was initiated. The idea of building a golf course came in 1998, when Gord started to enjoy the game himself. He began to research Golf Course Architects and Planning Consultants to determine if it was feasible to develop a golf course on this piece of land. Dick Kirkpatrick was hired to design the course. He presented numerous designs and layouts to the consultants and engineers for their approval. After a long struggle to have the farmland re-zoned approval was finally given in the winter of 2001 to proceed with construction of Copetown Woods Golf Club. The rolling landscape and naturally sandy soil made the location a perfect choice for a golf course. Development began on April 1st 2002 and was completed June 2nd, 2003, only fourteen months later.

PRO’S PLAYING TIP FOR HOLE 1
A great starting hole for the big hitters who can easily reach this straight away par 5, 59

PRO’S PLAYING TIP FOR HOLE 2
The most difficult hole on the course requires accuracy from the tee. Players wanting to challenge this hole off the tee 39
should be aware of the pond that boarders the right side of the fairway. A tee shot down the left centre will leave the best approach into this double green.

Great risk reward par 5. Favour the left side of the fairway off the tee to give yourself the best 37
angle into the green. A tough green to hit with a long iron or hybrid so if you choose not to go for the green lay up to the left to give yourself a straight forward wedge into the green.

Keeping your tee shot in play is most important on this short par 4. Long hitters 46
should consider leaving the driver in the bag to avoid hitting through the fairway into the fescue. A fairway wood or hybrid off the tee here is enough and will leave you with a wedge approach to a sloped green.

This picturesque par 4 has a lot of bite! With water lining the entire left side and fescue 25
