Hello Healthy Friends

We are swooning over all the family run businesses we had the privilege to feature in this issue. We are cheering for their success as we personally enjoy their services & products on our own Wellness journey. Please support these local Bend businesses. Let them know you found them in Bend Health Guide. When you support a small business you are helping a mom pay for their child’s dance lessons, birthday parties or prepare for college. Shop local whenever you can and keep your money circulating in our community! Thank you all for your support of our business this year. We’ve enjoyed all the Win Win collaborations featuring so many of your businesses on our Youtube channel, check it out.

Good times, bad times, you know we’ve had our share. Even as we were having our best year supporting Bend businesses...We’ve also had a weird year when another business caused confusion with a “Bend Health” fair and pamphlet. Many of you reached out to let me know they were approaching you, wondering if they were related to our Bend Health Guide? The silver lining in this challenge was hearing from so many of you that you have our backs and 100% support us, as we’ve supported your businesses since 2016. As a Massage Therapist, I am more comfortable giving than receiving, yet it was wonderful to receive so much love! I hope you will join us for our Fall Health Fair at UUFCO.

A Soul-Nourishing Gathering Space

When Lisa Stark first stepped foot in this hidden gem in Midtown, she knew she had stumbled upon something magical. She fell in love with the cozy farmhouse first, but as soon as she walked out into the back yard, surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, fragrant lilacs, and ancient olive trees, Lisa knew she was meant to be the steward of this special piece of Bend’s history.

Over the next year, Lisa (a Yoga Teacher and Breathwork Guide) poured all of her love and energy into carefully curating the home into a sanctuary for authentic, meaningful connection and deep healing work… and Breathe Love Bend was born.

Breathe Love Bend is a soul-nourishing gathering and retreat space located in the Orchard District of Bend. The adorable 1930’s farmhouse has been lovingly curated to be a sanctuary for deep healing and conscious connection. Painstaking care has been taken to preserve the original charm of this special home, while updating it to include all of the modern-day comforts you need. Ample space to gather indoors and out, cozy bedrooms, and character galore make this the perfect place to bring people together.

What role does ambience play in your gatherings? If you’re seeking a space that feels as special as it looks, Breathe Love Bend is your spot.

REPAIR REGENERATE RENEW

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an all-natural, non-invasive treatment where a client simply breathes 97% oxygen at an increased atmospheric pressure. HBOT can increase the oxygen concentration in the body by up to 1,200% —this gives it the potential to lead to extraordinary health benefits. This treatment delivers the oxygen that every cell in your body craves to repair and enhance cellular function. In turn, it stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, improving circulation. The entire process also encourages the release of stem cells, which are vital to help you achieve long-term optimal healing. Within the comfort of one of our soft hyperbaric chambers, it can heal a variety of conditions from chronic pain, concussions to long COVID.

Here at Halo Hyperbarics, we offer 5 soft chambers that reach 1.3ata while breathing 97% oxygen. Comfort is important so our clients lay on a memory foam mattress while wearing their everyday clothes. Phones, tablets, laptops, headphones or a

book are encouraged to bring inside while you relax. You will be offered a blanket or a fan depending on the current temperature. Once inside, our HBOT tech will turn the compressors on and it will take 5-7 minutes to climb to pressure. While climbing, most of the time clients will experience their ears to pop as if you were on an airplane but that will stop once the chamber reaches 1.3ata. The HBOT tech will then set the 1 hour timer and you get to enjoy the time inside!

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED
10

The inspiration to start this business began with our owners son, Cutler, who was born with a condition that required surgery. After 5 failed surgeries in Oregon, his parents found a surgeon who specializes in his condition in Texas. Hyperbaric treatments were an absolute requirement from the surgeon because of its quick and effective healing capabilities. Cutler would need 3 surgeries and 20 HBOT sessions after each surgery (60 total treatments). The more we learned about Hyperbaric and the many benefits it can provide so many people, we wanted to bring this to our community! 2 years of hard work, determination, and a boy who inspired us, we are proud to offer this holistic, natural affordable approach to healing!

Doulas educate, support, and companion in ways that are often difficult for close family members and friends. We assist in the preparation of advance directives; hold vigil for actively dying patients; provide household support; support survivors through the after-death services; create legacy projects and provide support through the grieving process. Doulas walk alongside individuals and their families as informed companions. We listen with compassion and without judgment.

As a late-life doula I strive to minimize the loneliness and isolation individuals experience at the end of their lives by providing non-medical, compassionate, consistent, and steady support and creating sacred space for clients. I provide spiritual companionship to my clients and offer care to caregivers granting them some respite.

In our culture death, dying, and loss are somewhat taboo topics. We prepare for birth, but often avoid preparing for death. Doulas support individuals embracing the inevitable. We understand that those who have a say in their own end of life process feel a sense of peace and that survivors of loved ones who have had end of life plans felt more at peace after the death of their loved ones.

Why I serve as an End-of-Life

Doulas step in whenever needed and meet clients where they are at the time of terminal illness, diagnosis, or in late life when companionship and support may be needed. We complement care from hospices, hospitals, and funeral homes, and although we do not provide medical support, we may help educate individuals regarding their options.

Serving others as a doula is truly my heart’s work and is deeply rewarding.

I am so fortunate to have completed my doula training and to now work as a doula with The Peaceful Presence Project here in Central Oregon. The Peaceful Presence Project is a nonprofit organization founded by Erin Collins, Elizabeth Johnson, and Kari Sims that strives to reimagine the way communities talk about, plan for and experience serious illness and the last stage of life. They are actively cultivating a Compassionate Communities Model of Care in the United States and are improving death literacy to improve end-oflife experiences for all.

ather Sauna House is a Baltic style, traditional wood-fired mobile sauna business established in 2019. This mobile concept is used in the heart of nature where traditional sauna has always been practiced. Our mission is to help folks reconnect with themselves, their community and nature. We pride ourself on creating custom cozy spaces and experiences of hygge that combine traditional wood fired sauna & thermal contrast therapy. It all began with a hand-built sauna created by a local husband and wife, Halina Kowalski-Thompson and Dorian Thompson, within a vintage horse trailer clad with locally-sourced western cedar and Juniper. Gather provides unforgettable, traditional bathing experiences through community pop-up events with local businesses & private rentals, plus custom sauna builds. Gather plans to expand to a permanent “Sauna Village” in Central Oregon with an outdoor charm and cozy atmosphere.

At the heart of each sauna built is a wood-burning stove that produces an exceptionally soft, even, deeply penetrating heat that emits stress reducing negative ions. The steam or “Loyly” (in Finnish) produced from throwing water on the rocks has added health and relaxation benefits as well.

Gather Sauna House teaches traditional healing methods including thermal contrast therapy, a regimen of exposing the body to hot-cold-rest-rehydration cycles for the ultimate holistic health boost. Research shows it increases immunity,

14

reduces inflammation, improves cardiovascular functioning, decreases pain, improves sleep, regulates the nervous system & boosts metabolism. Gather Sauna House is available to the community through monthly community sauna pop-up events and private hosted rentals.

A MISSON TO HEAL

Courtney Rebel and Josiah Alexander founded Manuka Mana here in Bend, in 2021. Manuka Mana combines Manuka honey with functional mushrooms for products that heal the brain, enhance immunity, and promote sustained energy. The Manuka Mana family are regulars at local events – you may recognize them from the NW Crossing Farmer’s Market, downtown festivals, or holiday markets. As a small family business, their children, Koa (7) and Lily (3) play active roles in every aspect of the business from product taste testing and photography to shipping/fulfillment and marketing.

The origins of Manuka Mana go back 6 years ago when, at only 32, Josiah

suffered a mini-stroke – brought on by concussions he’d had as a teenager. The recommendation they received from doctors left much to be desired so they took it upon themselves to learn how to heal Josiah’s brain.

When they stumbled upon the research for Lions Mane mushroom, they were instantly inspired by its neuroregenerative properties. Together they used their backgrounds – Courtney’s as a wellness director and Josiah’s as a chef – to create a Lions Mane mushroom supplement as delicious as it was potent. This is what inspired them to use Manuka honey as the base of their blends – its natural sweetness, and powerful medicinal properties made it the perfect glue for their formulations.

Today Manuka Mana’s product offerings have expanded to encompass a variety of mushroom tinctures, mushroom honeyblends, and honey tonics, in addition to a propolis spray and a CBD tincture. Sourcing the best ingredients from sustainable sources is a top priority – all their mushrooms are wild-harvested in the United States and triple-extracted using ultrasonic technology.

Manuka Mana community favorites include the Lions Mane THINK Tincture, the Royal Boost Honeyblend, and the Superfood Honeyblend. All Manuka Mana products are crafted to complement your lifestyle – you can take them on their own or pair them with your favorite foods and beverages for a superfood boost. You can order Manuka Mana products on their website or come visit them at one of their many in-person events.

GlinWood Fae

If you’ve spent time in Central Oregon, it’s likely you’ve stumbled upon Willow FernBoots and Lavender TangleDust of the GlinWood Fae. You may have spotted them in Downtown Bend on a First Friday, blowing breathtakingly magical bubbles for all to see. Maybe you were lucky enough to find them in the Willamette Forest on a pixie hunt during Spring months. You may have received a special fairy stone from them. Any encounter with these fairy friends is a magical memory you’ll never forget.

McKenna Hartrick and Lilianne Ash have been creating fantasy costumes and taking magical photos together since 2012.The idea of bringing their own fairy characters to life was spurred when McKenna met several fairy performers at the Colorado Renaissance Festival in 2010. Seeing how fairies can bring so much joy to the world convinced them to start GlinWood Fae. Even after all

this time, their favorite interactions are the ones where they see a person truly begin to believe in fairies. GlinWood Fae has grown over the years to include other fairy friends, Thistle and Dandelion, who make appearances at local parades.

Willow and Lavender travel Oregon on their adventures and participate in many events around Central Oregon like the Redmond Starlight Parade. Their favorite events are children’s birthday parties. If they can’t make it to your event in person, Willow has created special Fairy Mail packages to share their magic across the country. Their mission is to spread magic, light, and laughter to humans of all ages and encourage young and old to continue believing in fairies. Packages can be found at:

IVvitamin

and micronutrient therapy has been used for dehydration or vitamin deficiencies, it has numerous health & wellness benefits. Our local team of experienced doctors and nurses can customize an IV treatment specific for you. We offer infusions for performance, beauty, immunity, Meyers, illness relief, headache/migraine & hangovers. When you get an IV infusion, enjoy our comfortable power reclining chairs at our medical spa located upstairs from AOS Skin Care in Downtown Bend. Or let us come to your home or office in the Bend/Sunriver region. An experienced nurse will place a small IV catheter in your arm with minimal discomfort. We’ll mix your vitamins and micronutrients in a bag of fluids that goes right into your body. Infusions typically last 40-60 minutes.

We’re excited to offer NAD+ key coenzyme infusions. NAD+ is used in energy production in every living cell and production decreases as we age. IV supplementation allows direct entry of additional cellular support. NAD+ improves brain fog, increases energy, detoxifies and improves sleep. This therapy is popular among professional athletes and executives for mental clarity and performance benefits.

We also offer the revolutionary FDA approved weight loss drug called Semaglutide, known as Wegovy and Ozempic. A weekly self administered medication has an average weight loss of 15% total body weight, about 35 pounds, after a full course of treatment, results may vary. We have contracted with accredited compounding pharmacies to offer the generic version of this medication for over 70% off the retail price. Free physician consultation available for treatment.

Please note that IV vitamins and micronutrients infusions are not approved by the FDA and not intended to cure or treat any specific disease.

X-1 Solar Storms

Solar Storms are increasing in frequency & intensity as solar flares reach their peak in 2025, as the sun’s polarity reverses. Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy that impact radio communications, electric power grids, navigation signals and pose risks to spacecraft. Solar flares are classified according to strength. The smallest ones are B-class, then C, M & X is largest. Similar to an earthquake Richter scale, each letter is a ten- fold increase in energy output. We have more X-1 Solar Storms now.

Solar Storms can affect our physical & emotional health according to the Journal of Biomedical Science. Solar Storms affect our electromagnetic field and transmit strong energetic frequencies our body has to integrate. Mystics believe our collective DNA is being upgraded to allow more light to come into our body.

Side Effects of Solar Storms:

Insomnia or Excessive Sleep

Vivid Dreams

Exhaustion / Depression

Dehydration

Anxiety

Ears Ringing

Cardiac Arrhythmia

Heart Attacks

Stroke

Low Blood Sugar

Headaches / Migraines

Blood circulation issues

Dizziness & Vertigo

Anger & Emotional Outbursts
