Megan Mendoza

Hi Bend! My name is Megan Mendoza, the proud owner of Central Oregon Doula. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula serving the tri county area for home and hospital births. My passion for birth work started after having a doula at my first birth in 2015. The way she weaved a web of communication and positive energy between myself and the hospital staff was inspiring. I carry that same spirit with me to every birth I attend. Born right here at St. Charles, I am passionate about giving back to the community that helped shape me into the woman I am today. The word doula loosely translates to a woman who serves. My favorite interpretation of the word doula is to mother the mother. Labor is a vulnerable place to be. Through your love language, I make it an empowering peak life experience and a love story you’ll be able to tell with joy to your child on the day of birth for you both. Doulas are chameleons. We jump in when needed and fade into the background when not. This includes giving your partner guidance so they feel of service as well. A doulas role is not to replace your partner/ OB/Midwife but rather be an invisible string to thread everyone on the birth team together. Prior to birth, I offer three prenatal in-home visits. We talk about coping skills, birth wishes and go over any concerns or questions you have. From 37 weeks on I am available 24/7 for calls/texts. Once labor begins I will join you and help to guide you into motherhood. My services also include two postpartum home visits to process your birth, lactation support and ease the transition of an earthside baby. Postpartum doula services are available after birth to empower you to feel confident in your skills through education and guidance. My ultimate goal as a postpartum doula is to work myself out of a job by the time your baby is 12 weeks old. I am certified to accept OHP.
