Rangitoto College celebrates all-round

Awards season is an important time of year at Rangitoto College, where we get to celebrate the excellence of our students in a wide variety of areas, from our athletes to our outstanding academics.

Our school vision is excellent opportunities for all students. The awards events of Term 4 really highlight this and the efforts of our students to make the most of these excellent opportunities.

Sports Awards

The 2022 Sports Awards evening was an elegant event to celebrate the successes and commitments of all of our sportspeople and their coaches, teachers, and other volunteers. Without the hard work of all of the sports community, Rangitoto College would not be able to boast all of the sporting achievements that we have had this year. This evening was a great opportunity to acknowledge the dedication to sport of all these students, but most particularly the two sportspeople of the year, Seb Menzies and Darcy Spark.

Arts Awards

The 2022 Arts Awards evening was a lively and festive celebration themed with orange and masks, and over 160 students were recognised for their service, contribution, and achievement in the extra-curricular arts at Rangitoto College. It was a great opportunity to celebrate all the students’ success, but most importantly to honour this year’s recipients of the Zigliani Cup for Excellence in Performing Arts, Anna Haine and Amelia Ullrich.

Māori and Pasifika Success Evening

Joined by friends and whānau, our Māori and Pasifika students were celebrated in our annual Success Evening. This was an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work that these students do to exemplify the mana of their identity within the kura. Ngā mihi nui ki a Tamati Kingi for winning the Korowai Supreme Award for 2022.

Senior Prizegiving ceremony

The Senior Prizegiving ceremony is our biggest and most prestigious awards event, where students, staff, and whānau can come together to acknowledge and reward all the hard work that happens in the college throughout the academic year. The quality of our teaching and learning was on display in the large numbers of students who received awards for excellence in their subjects. We also had a record number of scholarships awarded by universities and other organisations to celebrate. Special congratulations go to our IB Dux, Richard Li and our NCEA Dux, Ashley Huddart.
