Distillery wins Entrepreneurs Challenge at Hertfordshire County Show

Hertfordshire’s prestigious County Show was back this year for the first time after a two-year break. In their marquee Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce hosted 14 of the county’s best new business hopefuls who pitched their entrepreneurial ideas to a team of judges as part of the

Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire’s Entrepreneurs Challenge.

St Albans was crowned the winner of the one-of-a-kind business development prize.

Briege Leahy, CEO of the Chamber,

who attended the Herts County Showground spectacle as a guest of Lady Salisbury, said: “Congratulations to Black Bridge Distillery for their passion.”

“The Challenge attracted a wide variety of entries from around the county, all with great ideas. It’s exciting that we have so many entrepreneurs who are passionate about what they do and who want to develop their businesses.” EziDrops, from Watford, was named as runner-up with Art by Vanessa and Castaway Cottage, both from Hemel Hempstead, being highly commended.

Black Bridge Distillery will receive a package of business development services from the Challenge’s sponsors, which are: Croft Communications;

Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce; Willmott Dixon; Pearldrop Video Production; Heart Radio; Cleveland Scott York; Mercer & Hole; Longmores Solicitors; Enterprise Nation; Garden City Assurance Ltd; Sales Optimisation Ltd; Business Incubation; and HR Dept.

The competition was first held in 2019 when Suzero, which makes low-sugar snack bars, took the prize. Because of the pandemic, this is only the second year the event has been held.
