12 years ago, a team of French skaters pushed wheelchair users from Paris to London to celebrate the start of the 2012 London Paralympics.

Inspired by the brilliant work they did to bring skaters and wheelchair users together, we decided to set up our own organisation in London, and thus Wheels and Wheelchairs was born.

12 years later, with the 2024 Paralympics taking place in Paris, it was only right that Wheels and Wheelchairs should celebrate 12 years of bringing happiness to wheelchair users. It was decided to go on a huge adventure pushing 4-5 wheelchair users from Brighton to Paris over 5 days. The journey covered more than 121 miles to celebrate the start of the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

This year’s skate was not just a physical challenge but a dynamic team effort, woven with the spirit of inclusivity and endurance. Participants had the unique opportunity to conclude their journey in the festive atmosphere of the Paralympic Games in Paris.

Local business owner and Chamber member, Ash Sanjenbam from Kingfisher SEC, successfully participated and completed in this epic charity event.

This ambitious plan could only have become a reality, due to the kind donations which help fund the trip. We would like to thank everyone who donated and help make this trip one our skaters and wheelchair users will remember.
