Dear Berkeley Hall Member,

We are proud to introduce the 2024 Golf Program Book to the membership. We look forward to the upcoming season which will include exciting new tournaments, updated tournaments, and golf programs for the whole membership to enjoy.

The 2024 Golf Program Book is available to view via the Club’s website, as well as via the Club App. Go to www.berkeleyhallclub.com, under the Golf Corner Page and click on 2024 Men’s Program. The event registration portal is available via the Golf dropdown menu of the website or under the Golf section on the Club App We will be using Golf Genius event registration for all tournament entries in 2024

This year’s Tournament Book includes the complete 2024 schedule and information for the “major” tournaments along with information on Golf Course Maintenance & Nine & Wine Events.

As a reminder, all 2024 tournament/event registration will be available on the Club’s website via the Events Registration Portal. Men’s and Ladies’ day events will continue to be held on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s respectively and registration is through the Events Registration Portal or by calling the Golf Shop. Please remember to register early for all your favorite events!

BerkeleyHallDressCode

Appropriate golf attire is required for all Players. If in doubt as to appropriate attire, players should check with the Golf Shop staff.

Shirts must be worn at all times. Men must have shirts with sleeves and collars (turtlenecks or mock collars are acceptable) and their shirts must be tucked in at all times. Women's golf specific sleeveless tops must have a collar. Women's golf specific tops without a collar must have sleeves. Slacks, trousers, athletic pants with pockets, shorts, skirts, dresses, skorts, and other attire, in styles designed for golf are permitted. There is no specific length requirement on dresses, shorts, skirts, or skorts; however, attire must present a professional image and undergarments may not be obviously visible. Leggings may be worn underneath an approved bottom but may not be worn alone. Hats must be worn with the bill facing forward. Denim, bathing suits, cargo pants/shorts (sewn on/extruding pockets), cut-offs, sweatpants, halter tops, tops that expose midriffs, and t-shirts not branded/designed for golf are prohibited. Fashion and industry standards are constantly changing; therefore, this is not an exhaustive list of acceptable and inappropriate attire but should serve as a guide. The Golf Shop staff reserves the right to make the final determination of the appropriateness of attire.

Shoes: Soft Spikes and Tennis Shoes are the only acceptable shoes for the golf courses and practice facilities. Large rubber spikes, metal spikes, and/or field shoes are not permitted. Acceptable spikes are available through the Locker Room.

Berkeley Hall’s pace of play policy has been set at 4 hours. Any group that falls behind the four-hour pace will be asked to speed up by the professional staff. Groups will get two warnings and if they cannot get back into position, they will be asked to pick up their balls and proceed to the correct position on the golf course. Members that are asked to skip ahead two times throughout the course of a year will meet with the Director of Golf to discuss different techniques to play in 4 hours or less. Members that are asked to skip ahead a third time will be invited to a Golf Committee meeting and may be restricted from “prime time” tee times. On days that we are Cart Path Only, pace of play will be set at 4 hours and 20 minutes.

Looking ahead to Men’s Day in 2024, there will be eight events with four in the spring and four in the fall We will be doing a Season Long Points Race with the top place finishers receiving prizes. For each event you play in, you get 5 points. 1st Place gets 50 points, 2nd Place – 45, 3rd Place – 40, 4th Place – 35, 5th Place – 30, 6th Place – 25, 7th Place – 20, 8th Place – 15, 9th Place – 10, 10th Place – 5

2024 - 2025 President’s Cup

Season Long Individual Match Play Event

You are cordially invited to participate in the fourteenth annual President’s Cup event to be contested during the months of October 2024 – April 2025.

The field will be limited to the first 64 individuals to register.

This year’s President’s Cup will have 2 stages. The first stage will be the group stage where players will be in Pods of 4 players and will play each person in their group to determine a winner for that Pod. The next stage will be the Knockout stage where the winners of each Pod will play Individual match play until the Overall Champion is decided. For grouping purposes only, players will be grouped based on their Handicap Index** as of September 15, 2024. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. Each month, the professional staff will send an update with the matches that have been completed. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. Our members who are not “full time” residents are reminded to only enter if you will be able to fulfill the match schedule requirements. Brackets will be posted by September 22, 2024.

2024 - 2025 Four-Ball Match Play

Season Long Team Match Play Event

You are cordially invited to participate in the annual “Chairman” Four-Ball Match Play event to be contested during the months of October 2024 - April 2025. The “Chairman” will be a year-long, single elimination, handicap, and flighted match play event. Team’s must be comprised of 2 Members and will be flighted based on combined handicap index.

For seeding purposes only, players will be seeded based on their Handicap Index as of September 15, 2024. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. If a match has not been completed in the first thirty days, the golf staff will send a match reminder. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. Eligible teams will consist of a Golf Professional and 3 Amateurs (Teams may consist of Berkeley Hall Members or Guests. Our Professional Staff will assist your group with finding a Golf Professional if needed.)

Men’s Club Championships

Friday & Saturday, May 10-11, 2024

The Club Championships will be contested Friday & Saturday, May 10 & 11, 2024. Members may compete for all Championships, however in order to do so they must be playing from at least that tee box.

Club Championship – Blue Tee

Senior Club Championship (55 years of age or older by May 10) – White Tee

Super Senior Club Championship (65 years of age or older by May 10) – Green Tee

36-hole stroke play event with the Overall Champion being the Member who returns the lowest Gross.

A Net Club Champion will also be crowned, and will be awarded to the member that returns the lowest 36 hole Net total regardless of tee played.

You are cordially invited to participate in the North ~ South Challenge to be played September 28, 2024. We hope that you will join us for another round of fellowship and spirited team competition. The tournament format and schedule of events are also listed below. Please note that all dress for our tournament activities will be club casual.

Format

Players will sign up as pairs (the golf staff will help pair individuals) and will be assigned to either the Northor Southteam based on the following criteria:

You are cordially invited to participate in the Tenth annual HAIG Member ~ Member event to be played Friday & Saturday, October 11-12, 2024.

Teams will compete in a 36-hole Stroke Play Event using the Modified Stableford Scoring. The Golf Course will be set-up to play as “Hard as it Gets.” The team returning the lowest Net score for 36 holes will determine the Overall Champion. Net prizes will be awarded in each flight and a Gross winner for Men and Women will be awarded.

The field will be limited to the first 54 teams to enter. The golf staff is available to answer any questions you may have or to help you find a partner if needed.

Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to help schedule any outside activities. Please note that all dress for our tournament activities will be club casual.

Berkeley Classic

Wednesday - Saturday, November 6-9, 2024

You are cordially invited to participate in the Men’s Berkeley Classic to be played November 6-9, 2024. The field will be limited to 60 teams, and eligible teams will consist of 1 Member and 1 Guest.

The tournament format will consist of 6 nine-hole rounds played over three days. Flights will be made up of 6 teams based on a combined team handicap index. Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to assist you. Please note that all dress for after golf activities will be club casual. We welcome you to play a practice round on Wednesday, November 6.

Players Program

Six 9-hole rounds

Teams made up of 1 member and 1 guest, Flighted by total team handicap index (6 Teams Per Flight)

The Tournament Tees will be the White Tees (The rule of 75 is in effect. Please see the golf shop if you would like to play from a different set of tees and we will adjust your handicap accordingly.)

Optional cash buy-in pool

All players must have a current USGA handicap index USGA recommended Handicap Allowances for Formats

Maximum strokes 30 Handicap Index Differential between partners must not exceed 10.0 strokes (If higher than 10.0, the higher-handicapped player will be adjusted)

December 5-7, 2024

You are cordially invited to participate in the Club Challenge to be played on December 5-7, 2024. We look forward to seeing teams representing clubs from around the country as we gather for this exciting team competition to be contested over our North and South courses.

Eligible teams will consist of:

• 1 Berkeley Hall Member and 3 Guests from current or previous club.

• 2 Berkeley Hall Members and 2 Guests from current or previous club.

The field will be limited to 28 teams. Golf Professionals are not eligible to participate. All social functions are limited to the contestants only for this event. Please note that all dress for the tournament will be club casual.
