ON THE GREENS:

LOOK AHEAD.

As I embark on my third season at Berkeley Hall Club, it’s been a true pleasure to see how far we’ve come on both the North and South Courses. They both present unique challenges and the Agronomy team has made significant strides in the past year to achieve a good number of our goals. The new Fazio Green project was superbly executed as our team and the construction team worked seamlessly to improve this Berkeley Hall amenity. Each day, it’s now common to see members out there working on their putting and positive member feedback continues to grow as more members enjoy the new scope of the green’s design and increased size. Once Spring and Summer roll around, we’ll see the grass mature and will be able to maximize its full potential. Agronomic practices implemented over the past two summers are now having an impact on the playability of both golf courses, as the drill-and-fill has created firmer, drier and healthier surfaces. In addition, the sand channel, topdressing, and deep aeration were instrumental in coming through an August which brought almost 25” of rainfall. These processes are disruptive, yet pay off exceedingly well when we experience such stressful weather conditions and position us to provide the premier conditions required. Great courses require an excellent team, and great consideration to our culture and direction will continue to lead us forward. Utilizing contract labor, part time and seasonal employees, to round out the exceptional work of our Agronomy team has had an enormous impact on the quality and integrity of our course work. As we enter 2023, we will continue to build on our successful agronomic practices as we look toward North Course Native area improvement, new irrigation pump stations, along with other future projects. With a continued goal to improve Berkeley Hall courses and enhance the member experience, we thank membership for your support.
