BHCF Mission is To Make a Difference in addressing the basic human needs of the greater Bluffton community, especially those most vulnerable. Thanks to the Berkeley Hall community’s generosity, the Charitable Foundation has raised over $2.5 million for Lowcountry charities.

Baby Berkeley’s story begins long before she actually arrived. Her story is one of love and tradition, which isn’t surprising when you consider her grandfather Ross Marancos first purchased a property in Berkeley Hall in 2004.

The Marancos family spent their time between Canada and the Lowcountry, with Ross bringing sons Kyle and Taylor for annual golf outings and staying in the cottages before building a home in 2013. Taylor and Jill began coming here as a young couple, later marrying in 2021.

Over the years, Berkeley Hall has become the family’s favorite gathering spot. So, when they found out they were soon to be parents, the baby’s name was naturally the big question. One afternoon, while here visiting dad Ross (Poppy) and Mary Beth Botz (Gigi), they were considering a few names when Gigi, as she is affectionately called, suggested “Berkeley.” It was an immediate yes!

Jill and Taylor have always had a special bond with Berkeley Hall and come here as often as possible. From young adults to parents, that connection has grown even more meaningful.

Now that Baby Berkeley is here, we had a chance to spend some time with this young family and learn what they cherish most about Berkeley Hall. And how their family story begins anew, as we welcome Berkeley into our BHC family.

BH: Did you always envision Berkeley Hall as part of your family story?

Jill: Most definitely! I was lucky enough to start coming here in 2016 (a year after Taylor and I met) and we've been coming every year since. We love the community, the golf and more importantly, spending time with family. Bringing Berkeley into the world has made Berkeley Hall even more special and we will ensure she knows what she's named after. We hope to make many more family memories here with the newest addition to our family!

BH: Has tradition become more meaningful now that Baby Berkeley has just turned 7 months old?

Taylor: Tradition is very important to us. We love celebrating holidays and having Berkeley in our lives makes it that much more special.

BH: Favorite Berkeley Hall memory?

Jill & Taylor: Our favorite memory is bringing Berkeley here for the first time in February. She was born in Canada in October while it was chilly outside, so it was her first time experiencing the lovely warm temperatures. She loved her first visit and can't wait to come back!
