LINDA’S LINES Many, Many Thanks!!! To an anonymous donor who donated $1,000 towards the purchase of a new ice machine, after 14 years our ice machine called it quits. To Andy Anderson who made a coat hanger for the pool room. They now have a place to hang their hats. To all the volunteers who helped at the Harvest and Holidays Dinners. Without their help these events could not take place. Also to the Senior Citizens Foundation who sponsored our entertainers at the dinners. A special thanks to our Santa Clause, Buzz Smith, who made a great Santa. To CareMore who provided refreshments at the December Community Band and Singing Seniors Concert. To Moss Rose Owner, Mary Ann, who donates cakes all year long to the Senior Center to be enjoyed by the participants. What a treat! Also Cost Less Market donating baked goods that are distributed and enjoyed at lunch. The Senior Center is lucky to have so many generous people, businesses, and agencies helping out through out the year. Happy New Year!

CONGRATULATIONS OAKDALE SENIOR CITIZENS FOUNDATION The Oakdale Senior Citizens Foundation has been nominated by the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce for the 2014 Community Service Award. This award is awarded to an non-profit organization that has provided services to the Oakdale Community. The Oakdale Senior Citizens Foundation was established in 1999 with the specific purpose of supporting the Oakdale senior community and within that time has fundraised approximately $300,000. The Foundation does an incredible job of financially supporting the Gladys L. Lemmons Senior Community Center and other Oakdale senior groups, including CAPS Senior Outreach. With the Foundations support these groups are able to do projects, purchase much needed items, and provide services to the senior community where these items are not funded in their budgets. The winner of this award will be announced at the Annual Chamber of Commerce Award Dinner on January 16th. Good Luck Foundation we are all rutting for you!

SENIOR SERVICES ASTRO FOUNDATION The ASTRO Foundation was established in 2012 to save the lives of homeless animals in the communities of Riverbank and Oakdale. The Oakdale Animal Shelter is far too small to meet the needs of the current population that it serves. As a result, many healthy, adoptable pets are euthanized. The ASTRO Foundation rescues animals from the Oakdale Shelter, and also from the community at large, and finds loving homes for them. In addition ASTRO works with students in both Oakdale and Riverbank and involves them in the animal rescue process. The students help with fostering, at adoption events, with fundraising and marketing. The students learn responsibility, leadership and teamwork while enriching the community. To date over 100 animals have been saved thanks to the work of the ASTRO Foundation. We are an approved nonprofit 501 (c)(3) and all donations to ASTRO are tax deductible. If you are looking to adopt a new best friend you can find us at astrofoundation.org or at www.facebook.com/ AstroFoundationInc. You can also call us at (209) 604-2649 or by mail at ASTRO Foundation, P.O. Box 457, Oakdale, CA, 95361. The ASTRO Foundation has and will continue to bring by dog and cat food to the Senior Center towards the end of each month for those who are in need of pet food.
