Mit extremer Körperlichkeit und Radikalität, aber gleichzeitig in fragilen Situationen von hoher Intimität, drehen sich die Werke von Jared Gradinger und Angela Schubot um die Frage: Wie können wir zusammen existieren? Gradinger und Schubot erweitern diese Frage auf nicht-menschliche Akteur*innen und laden andere Wesen in ihre Arbeit als Mitgestalter*innen, Mitarbeiter*innen und Partner*innen ein – in dem Bestreben, neue und immer vitaler werdende Formen des Zusammenlebens zu finden. Im Rahmen des Rituals „The Opposite of a Shadowland“ schaffen sie einen sich selbsttragenden Garten, der die Ankunft der Jahreszeiten feiert: ein Renaturierungsprojekt, welches die Institution dazu einlädt, den gewohnten Modus der Eigentumspflege aufzugeben, um eine bewusstere Beziehung zum Boden und zur Natur im öffentlichen Raum herzustellen. Wie können wir Dinge mit Liebe und Absicht initiieren, ohne sie besitzen zu wollen – und sie dann einfach sich selbst überlassen?

Radically physical, while at the same time exploring delicate situations of intense intimacy, the works of Jared Gradinger and Angela Schubot examine the question: how can we co-exist? Gradinger and Schubot extend this question to include non-human agents and invite other creatures to contribute to their work as co-devisers, collaborators and partners – in an effort to find new and ever more vital forms of cohabitation. As part of the ritual “The Opposite of a Shadowland”, they will create a self-sustaining garden that celebrates the arrival of the seasons: a renaturing project that invites the institution to abandon its customary mode of property maintenance in order to establish a more conscious relationship with soil and nature in public spaces. How can we initiate things lovingly and deliberately without wanting to own them and simply allowing them to be themselves?
