Yachting in Style with Peace of Mind
The Yacht Market Overview
Following the trends of the earlier months of 2022, BGYB has continued to flourish along with the entire yachting industry thanks to global travel restriction relaxation and an eagerness among clients to return to the waves. We are keen to see what this winter has in store for us and are keeping a close eye on Covid announcements to avoid disruption for our clients, in both sale and charter.
Sales
Regarding sales, 2021 saw a return to quasi-normality but 2022 has seen a thriving growth, which we hope will last into the winter season and the new year. We are pleased to announce that we have concluded 14 sales since the last issue of our Episode. Notable sales include the Motor Yacht Amer 116 S “IL GATTOPARDO” and the Sailing Yachts CNB 100ft Carbon Sloop “BLUE DIAMOND”, CNB 77 “SWALLOWS AND AMAZONS” and Botin 65 “HIGH SPIRIT”, as well as the more recent sale of the 90ft Hoek Design Sloop “ATALANTE 1” and 100ft Alan Buchanan Ketch “PROVENANCE”. With 7 sales currently in progress, we expect this list to continue to grow.
It is also with great pleasure that we announce the additions of the following boats to our sales fleet: the Motor Yacht Ferretti 630 “ELLION” as well as the Sailing Yacht 104ft “ASAHI”, Shipman 72 Sloop “GEOMETRY” and, Vismara V71 “RED CARPET” plus the VPLP 78ft catamaran “TAJ”, and New Classic Sloop TM 52 “LAZY DAYS”.
Charter
This summer has seen a spectacular charter season, soaring to heights not seen in the previous five years. While this certainly can be attributed to the weakened restrictions and encouragement of the tourism industry in part, we are seeing clients return with a positive spirit and an enthusiasm to enjoy their summer freedoms, which were previously taken for granted.
The market has also received an influx of American clients once again, indicating that the yachting industry is heading down the right track towards its former glory. Furthermore, we have seen a notable shift in interest towards sailboats, which can be attributed to the rising prices of fuel following dramatic world events this year. Whether you prefer old and classic or modern efficiency, it is wonderful to see sailboats obtaining the recognition they deserve and serving so many clients with the charter of their dreams this summer.
Here at BGYB, we are already receiving enquiries for the Summer 2023 season, even confirming several reservations. It is clear that clients are getting in early this year, another positive sign for the recovery of the charter market.
We have further welcomed a brand-new sailing catamaran to our Central Agency Fleet: an Alegria 67 SEMPER FIDELIS, which has seen high levels of popularity this summer. The long-awaited return of Multiplast 80ft catamaran MAGIC CAT has finally occurred, reinstating her premier status following an extensive refit.
For winter, we are seeing several yachts crossing to the Caribbean, including the three sailing catamarans ARAOK, SEMPER FIDELIS and MAGIC CAT Scattered over various Caribbean Islands, our Central Agency Fleet is seeing enquiries from clients keen to spend their winters on sandy beaches, escaping the harsh European temperatures.
We are therefore looking forward to the profitable winter season ahead and welcome all enquiries extending to Summer 2023.
Marketing and Development
Last month, we welcomed our new annual Charter Assistant to the Montpellier office team to aid in handling our high volume of enquiries and furthering marketing strategies to see a continued increase in bookings and revenue.
We have also announced an exciting new partnership with the German shipyard, YYachts, located on the Baltic Sea where yachts, up to 35 metres in length are manufactured. YYachts are an innovative, technologically advanced company who guarantee efficiency and precision in all their models. BGYB intends to work closely with our partner, maintaining their philosophy to Keep It Simple’.
The aim is to build yachts that give yachtsmen time for themselves, as well as freedom and pleasure to share good times with family and friends, becoming a reliable investment for a better quality of life.
Finally, yet importantly, we are delighted to announce our participation in the Cannes Yachting Festival. Displaying two of our Central Fleet Yachts and being present on Y7 and Y9, 2 new models of the YYachts production, BGYB will be in attendance to this major event in the yachting calendar among the biggest names in the nautical industry.

2010. She is the replica of legendary ATLANTIC which was commissioned in 1903 Her victorious 1905 Transatlantic Race ensured that she went down in yachting history.
After owning, restoring, rebuilding or recreating a number of famous yachts such as Thendara, Aile Blanche, Borkumriff, Zaca a te Moana and most recently Eleonora, her owner planned his ultimate masterpiece; with her overall length of 64.5 metres she is the largest classic racing schooner ever to be recreated. Above all else, she, like her inspiration, remains breathtakingly beautiful, turning heads wherever the wind takes her.
Her dimensions are simply incredible; overall, she measures a remarkable 64.5 m. Her graceful sheer line and long overhangs accentuate her grace while her waterline length of 42 m and narrow beam are a promise of unmatched speed under sail. Her spars tower some 45 m above the waterline and support a staggering area of 1,750 m² of sail, more than two and a half times that of the already awesome J-Class yachts.
